More Avatar. I love them. I heard about them before, but thanks to Babimetal for introducing them.

Johannes (the lead singer) has always the clown facepaint. It represents their style of music.They combine avant garde metal,groove metal and melodic death metal. You should check all of their albums bc they are different every single time.Check out Colossus by them,it's from their new album!
They are kind of circus like i'd like to say, the costumes I think for this album was behind their concept album "Avatar country" where the guitarist with the crazy dreads was the king and the band were his assistants of such? They are a really great theatrical band and have really explored with their sound. They have a new album out next week too! You should defo check out more of them
haha this is so crazy. I just watched this "Live from Alcatraz" right before your review popped up in my feed. I was thinking the same thing cuz even though they've been to the states many times, I don't remember them ever playing at the old prison and I didn't think the island off the coast of San Fran was big enough to host a show haha. So it must be a town or place -- looks like an old castle or something -- in Europe. This band is doper than dope and I'm glad to see you getting in on the fun with this criminally underrated band. The lead singer is a phenom and they are so damn entertaining and captivating with their live show. I saw them open for Baby Metal and they blew the roof off the joint. BM didn't stand a chance...their thunder was completely stolen that night. Their dress is part of their "Avatar Country" Kingdom concept. They actually did a fan-financed movie that is 45 minutes or so that takes you through this conceptual journey in which heavy metal saves the galaxy sort of thing. It's quite funny but also very well produced and the music score, which is really their previous album, really makes the movie. Just a rollicking good time. So many amazing songs to check out but you should check out Smells Like a Freakshow from Wacken Open Air show. And yes, they are very funky and their rhythm laden metal is kinda "proggy" and really gives it depth...but they also fucking rock like crazy!!

Love love avatar! Swedish melodic avatarmetal, yeh they should have their own genre! :D You got alot more exploring to do, they have loads of different styles withing their own style :D Like someone said, this is the costumes for Avatar Country - album. Every new album they change their outfits to fit the current album :D
hehe - The reactions of some when they first 'see' Johannes. I can imagine the kick he'd get out of watching people react to him, lol. I'm new to the band (only been down the rabbit hole a bit over 2 wks now), but I've read/watched a LOT of interviews, videos and reactions. This is from Alcatraz in Belgium, not the U.S. :) They're not sailors, it's a circus theme and Johannes' look is meant to represent a "demented ringmaster/leader". He's donned the make-up before the costumes came about, but has said it is not an "alter ego" (like Alice Cooper & the like)... he says he's "still me", but that it allows him to bring his dark lyrics to 'life' better, performance-wise. The costumes grew organically as their music shifted into "Avatar Country". ~ He is THE frontman!! He's also got incredible vocal range, richness & depth. Quite a few reactors (and fans) will comment about the variety of influences and singers they hear when listening to/watching them. My first foray was via another reaction channel, where they reacted to the song "Bloody Angel" (live, PolandRock).. and I picked up on the beautiful, rich David Bowie-like quality to his voice. Others I'd read mentioned and/or heard: Marilyn Manson, Cooper, Kiss, Jim Carey (in regard to Johannes' crazy performance style!), the scream/fry from AC/DC, Ozzy... it goes on! ~ Anyway, great reaction, liked & subbed and can't wait for more... All Hail the King & Horns In the Air!!!
I am in the US and they can't even fill a small club here. How is it that there are this many people at the show in Belgium? Is this part of a big concert festival over there?
@@NR-xd1vw They're pretty big in parts of Europe, at least from what I've gathered from watching live performances (like this one at Alcatraz, ones from PolandRock, Wacken, etc.). Although I have yet to see them, I'm pretty sure they can pack more than a small club here in the US. Babymetal did their first headlining tour here last year with Avatar as their opening act.. which would've sold out much bigger arenas & venues. Sadly, a LOT of great music from Europe doesn't get the attention, airtime & love it deserves in the U.S. Here, it's only about the cookie-cutter sound/formula. Eventually, we'll come around (I hope)... until then, thank goodness for more broad music avenues and sites like UA-cam.
@@crystalrainfeather Yeah. I agree. The music in the US is terrible. I did get to see Avatar live 9 times, but only 4 were headline. At the one headline by me, I was told by someone that they wouldn't come back because the venue was not sold out. It seemed pretty packed to me. But that could be an issue with the venue and not Avatar. But at least Avatar is making attempts to play in the US even if they are not doing that well here. I am just sick of having to travel two hours every time to see them. There is another awesome band I recently found out about called Battle Beast. They are from Finland. You should check them out. I was supposed to see them in August opening for Amaranthe but because of the virus it of course got cancelled.
@@NR-xd1vw I haven't been to a concert since I was around 16! I live in SW Missouri and we rarely get very 'big' names, and when we do, I never have the $ to go. I came across a performance Avatar did at one of our local radio stations when they were here, 3 years ago. As far as I know, they haven't returned yet, but if they ever do I'm going to find a way to be there! ~ I hadn't heard of Battle Beast so thanks for the recommendation! ~ My other favorite band is Nightwish.
@@crystalrainfeather Yeah if you like Nightwish, you will probably like Battle Beast. Some other recommendations are Amaranthe and Beyond the Black.
Saw them live about 10 or so years ago in their home city of Gothenburg, back when they weren't as big. My friend ran into them multiple times at a local heavy metal night club. They played here frequently and seeing them almost got to the "meh" state, they were very re-occuring here and nowadays it's different, they aren't as stationary here in Gothenburg. I'm looking forward to see them again now.
The tour had a circus theme with Johannes as the ringmaster. Hence the outfits.

soooooo Avatar! love them 😊 as for the outfits - is changes from album to album since Black Waltz. this time it was "Avatar Country" metal fairy tale, so guys were dressed up like a royal retinue or smth. and yes, that guitarist with dreadlocks and fabulous beard is the King! :)
they have new album out, Hunter Gatherer! there are two music videos - Silence in the Age of Apes (fast tempo) and Colossus (mid-tempo). the album is great! aside from the singles, my fav songs are Child and Wormhole. but no concerts - no live recordings :c

You should check out the studio version of Hail the apocalypse or the live version 5 / 17 / 17. Kick ass song. Whole album is a masterpiece if you ask me.
