Thanks for the tutorial. You make look so easy. I need to get some Kreg jigs. I told my family that I want gift cards to Lowe’s and Harbor Freight. My kids no my husband are not surprised at this request. I’m not your average nana.

Kreg Jigs make it so much easier. Here is a link to some of my favorite Jigs, these are even easier to use than the one I was using in the video.

Nice wood working skills! Where did you learn them? My daughter did wood working at school.
The saw gives me the heebee jeebies!! Yikes! Id love yo make bases like this.
Guess a tapering jig is the next item on your shopping list! Want you to be safe!

This is a great video and one that shows exactly how to build a base. My question is, how do you know where to put the pocket holes.? I did not see you measure and as this will be the first time I will be doing it I would like to know how you decide where they go.

Yeah that’s a great question, I just placed them periodically making sure the sides have at least 2, and the front has at least 4, but you can do more just to be safe 😊

Another great video! Re cutting the legs on the mitre saw, the clamp arrangement is a little sketchy 😉
You could make a tapering jig and cut them on a table saw, or make a simple jig for your mitre saw. If I linked it right, this video (full credit to Mr Peech) shows how from about 9mins 30secs: ua-cam.com/video/ypSaacgY8kc/v-deo.htmlsi=d5PRAKDECPu8FDYW
Might be worth doing if you make a few legs like this, but cut to length after so your fingers stay further away from the blade.
Chamfering the 90 degree edges (breaking the arris on this side of the pond) can help your finish stay on better, help avoid splintering and definitely help stop feet from splitting. Hope that makes sense?
I think the safety comments are all meant kindly. If you cut wood long enough, accidents can happen and I think we like you much better with all your fingers, toes, eyes and ears etc. 🤗

Your work is excellent!! However you need to stop making that leg like that immediately! You would get fired on the spot doing that in any commercial shop including mine, That leg is made on a table saw only with a tapering jig. That saw has enough power to take that stick and implant it right in your stomach, That nice long clamp you think is making you so safe is the worst possible thing you can do!! If it comes lose it is going to go right in that blade and send metal flying all over the place including at you, if you look at it closely you will see that the top of that clamp is headed right for your eye It is a guarantee you will lose it, at the very least break your eye socket. All that is going to happen so fast you will not see it coming!! When you have the right equipment to make that the next thing you do is round off the bottom or put a 1/8 inch chamfer on the bottom so it doesn't spit on you or the person that buys it, without that that leg is guaranteed to split and make that a worthless piece of furniture. Look at any leg if you don't believe me they are usually rounded on the bottom
