Restoring a Timeless Antique Dresser // Dresser Restoration
Join me in this restoration of a timeless dresser. The thing that caught my eye on this piece was the wood. It was so unique compared to other furniture I have worked on and I knew I had to keep this piece alive. There are definitely some wood pieces I will paint over, but not this one! Furniture like these pieces are my absolute favorite to work on. What caught my eye first was the hardware on this piece. I knew I had to get my hands on this piece to save it. This piece had some great bones and just needed a little extra love from the years of wear and tear. Let me know in the comments below what you think, and I'll see you in the next video!!

Join me in modernizing this Orange dated white oak dresser. Before flipping this piece I had planned on selling it for a large profit but I ended up loving it so much I had to keep it. Wonderful job!! I love the look of the wood. Malino is such a cutie!
This is ash not white oak
Wowzer! So beautiful, great job! Love your boy, my cat loves his boxes too:)
Did you spray a water based top coat over the tung oil? If so, how long did you wait between tung oil and top coat?
Absolutely gorgeous transformation! Love the drawer pulls they look awesome! The wood grain is soooo beautiful! You did a fabulous job bringing this back to life! Love your videos! 😊❤
Beautiful result 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Wonder if it's some.kind of burl wood. Like burl maple? Either way great job as always. Please send some of your patience my way
What an amazing restoration! You brought it back to life with many more years to give. Great job .
Yes, she is stunning!!
GOOD JOB!
It is beautiful. You are so talented and cute. I love seeing your boy in the videos. Can’t wait to see you and Malino at our house.
Really well done! Gorgeous
22:21 you were channeling your inner Bob Ross 🩶👏✨️🐾❤🐾❤🐾 my grandpuppies love 📦
@@HBSVMom hahaha yes I was. I grew up watching bob ross and loved watching his videos, so peaceful. Idk why they like them but he picks it over a toy sometimes 😂
✨️🤍❄️🐧💙🦌✨️
Hi Sammie, love the finish. Beautifully done.
The wood is called burl and it’s very expensive! A treasure for sure. Sadly, a layman’s term for burl is tree cancer. It’s what causes the beautiful pattern.
Yeah what a beautiful treasure to have such a horrible name! I love it!
Are you really from Alaska?
Yes I really am! It’s really cold there right now 😄
Excellent tutorial i like the finished furniture.
Thank you very much! I love it too!
super travail sammy félicitations sincère patrick
Thank you so much! ☺️
Stunning!
Thank you! 😊

Thanks for watching! 😊
Hey! Beautiful job! Quick tip: if you’re going to use an oil based product such as tung oil, or any other oil based product for that matter, you can eliminate that hazing by sealing it with some de waxed shellac in between your oil finish and your water-based topcoat. I would definitely suggest using something other than tung oil, as it can take 7 to 10 days to dry and up to 30 days to fully cure In addition, I would suggest lighter coats of your water-based polyacrylic to start off with and then one final heavier coat to finish. Hope this helps!
Okay great tips. I’ll have to look into that and give it a try!
So beautiful! I didn’t know we can use poly on top of oil finish, and that we can seal touch up markers with poly.Did you use water base or oil base?Thank you for all the info❤
Yeah you definitely can and on pieces like this I wanted the protection the poly would give as well as the shine. I am not the biggest fan of a wipe on poly but I have used it before and that could work too. I used a water based
@ 😀🙏🏻👌Thank you again!
You married
Hot damn sam❤
Beautiful transformation, she's beautiful! Lots of work but it sure paid off. Here's info on the type of wood on this dresser: Burl wood is the product of irregular tree grain pattern growth. Such irregularities are caused due to an illness, a fungus infection, or natural injury. The tree’s grain will grow abnormally, twisting and interlocking with itself. During this process, the wood forms swirling grain patterns.
Oh Burl wood I have seen that! That’s so interesting, thank you so much for the information! Hope you enjoyed the video! 😊
Excellent! If I may ask, what is the wonderful wall color behind you in the dining area?
Can I pay to see your socks
Bravo!
You should try painting with the drawers in, then with a 2 inch foam roller or brush you can paint the sides of the drawers, so you save some tape, paper and frustration 😊.I love your videos and transformations.
Thanks for the tutorial! I just finished making my first base!
Nice! How did it go? I remember the first time I made one it was a struggle lol 😂
Awesome work and I love seeing young ladies working on furniture and restoration 💖
Fantastic ❤
Thanks 🤗
Gray
Gorgeous! What color is it? Is it brown?
It’s called night club by Behr. I thought it was going to be a dark charcoal but it has blue undertones. I would say it’s a very dark blue almost black.
Have Lauren help you with it. She can help you restore you.
This is beautiful!!! When you took off the plastic medallions, what did you fill those areas in with? I’m currently updating our dining set that has several of them…mostly broken. So they have to go! Thank you for great instructional videos!! 😊
Thank you so much! 😊 once I removed them I just sanded the area and if anything needed filled I would recommend bondo to make sure it’s nice and smooth
Beautiful ❤
Thank you! 😊
Bravo!
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful work !
Thank you very much!
Do you add water to the paint to thin for spraying? Thanks
Great question, yes I typically use a little bit of water to thin it out so it goes through my sprayer easier. Start with a little bit of water because you can always add more.
Fabulous makeover!! I learn so much watching your videos.
Glad you like them! 😊☺️

Absolutely stunning! I adore this type of dresser along with the hardware… what a classic. Good color paint choice too. The Howard feed & wax is one of the best products I’ve tried… I use it to apply inside and outside of those thirsty drawers. It brings the wood back to life. Enjoyed this video! Great job! 🍁
These Hepplewhite pieces are so classic and look good in almost any color. I love the contrast of the gold handles with the off black color that you chose.
Fabulously beautiful!
Thank you so much! 😊
