    thematically speaking, this is her best album. this is a harsh, heavy and crushing electronic album that stands out from her other albums because of all that darkness surrounding it. it's a shame that she regrets making those old stuff, because this is true art nonetheless

    The complexity and the duality of her work is honestly so fucking powerful. The ability to mix heaven and hell in such a dynamic way is something that is both disturbing and beautiful. It’s like I can feel her pain in every beat and synth on each track. Controversial, versatile, and emotional.
    There is no other artist like her.

      What are the themes?

  • @SyntaxDaemon
    @SyntaxDaemon 3 роки тому +137

    I keep thinking about that opening monologue for Little Ones. It's so interesting.
    On one hand, the ideals it is advocating for are good ones, but on the other, the person sounds vicious and possibly sarcastic, which is further enhanced by the distortion and other effects.
    I would guess that the meaning is to do with how progressive values are often warped, both by conservatives and liberals, and how even good intentions can be harmful and regressive, but I'm not at all sure.
    It might be another layer more meta than that, and the confusion it inspires is itself the point. Knowing whatever meaning might be behind it won't help me enjoy the music, anyhow.

    • @jon...5324
      @jon...5324 3 роки тому +25

      Imo the next layer is likely jvnko's own experience, of those values being parroted over and over but in the end when she needed it there wasn't any of those ideals in the actions of those who spoke them. it's about the tension between how people want to act, and what people perceive as "right". and on the other side, how people are perceived to act, and how they actually behave when the chips are down. and how those differences can be damaging to the people caught in the middle

    Иногда я сижу и думаю о том, а сколько ещё таких музыкантов, писателей, художников и им подобных просто отказываются от своих работ. Сколько труда, сколько эмоций могло быть и было вложено в то, что люди потом просто никогда не увидят. Насколько же интернет все-таки великая и непостижимая вещь, если он позволяет найти то, что должно было быть скрыто от остальных, уничтожено, выброшено на свалку небытия.

      Насколько я понимаю, отказались не просто потому что перестало нравится или стиль поменялся, а поскольку человек находился на тот момент в депрессии.
      А ещё на первой картинке альбома было изображено лоли порно.
      Короче, кажется эти работы напоминают музыканта о говне, которое хотелось бы забыть.

      Этот альбом - темнейшая работа Джун. Довольно сильно отражает темные 2018-ые года (для автора) - проблемы с психическим здоровьем, несостоявшийся Роскомнадзор, куча диагнозов от психиатров, и последующее что угодно. Понятно, что человек способен признавать что допускал ошибки или повзрослел, решает удалить все альбомы вплоть до этого (остальные альбомы начиная с Drowning In The Sewer не были как-либо тронуты), но людям свойственно любопытство, и вот к чему оно привело.

    In my opinion this is the best material jvnko has made, slowly grew a distaste for her more popular releases they don't attract me as much as they used to. I never knew she messed with harsh noise/PE, as a fan of the genre, this is very top notch use of it. It's dark and suffocating, with only the most necessary amounts of evil. If only people could quit being such snowflakes about what jvnko does.

    im so happy and sad i stumbled upon this album,,,, because im a sewerslvt fan and i enjoy her music greatly, but sadly these tracks are a bit too heavy for my epilepsy hehe,,, im afraid that if i started to listen to it on a regular i could trigger something, which obviously i dont want to happen :(( im gonna stick to her newer albums,,..

    Я бы посчитал самой агрессивной работой Джуньки в плане музыки. Тут больше мистически настроенных треков, их звучание искажено, басовые удары качают, но этот перегруз-дисторшн мне почему-то приятно слышать, будь то Pandora's Box, или Cold Steel.
    Может и ругали работу за что-то, именно что-то мне в ней и нравится. Звучание. Атмосфера.

    I listened to like 30 minutes of this and I genuinely can not see why one would praise this so much. It's got some decent stuff like every 8 minutes and some parts really feel harsh like so often thrown around here but there is so little variety and when there is it's way too spread out. just your 2 cents from a random guy on the internet so it's whatever. Just makes me jealous when I look at more modern stuff and everyone shitting on everything claiming it doesn't sound like the old stuff.

    • @vithor592
      @vithor592 3 роки тому +13

      30 minutes is when track 9 starts, so you went pretty far.
      I honestly really disagree with the "lack of variety" criticism. Starving Slvt Overture has some ambient wonder followed by intense harsh noise, Cold Steel is the song with the greatest abundance of voice samples, giving the feeling that it's being sang by a tortured soul, Lips has some unnerving nostalgic Playstation energy to it, recontextualized with the modern trap beats and intense sound design making it painfully creepy, Pandora's Box being another trap song that sounds more modern but still with this unnerving feeling something is seriously wrong. Private Life having a "calm before the storm" feeling, building up to the album's third act.
      It's an album that is admittedly not very interesting in your first sitting, but the more you listen to it, the more you appreciate it. The more you start seeing the intense pain it portrays. The more you appreciate how nostalgic yet modern it feels.
      Although yeah, I have to admit that it sucks when people crap on June's more recent releases just because it's not what she used to do. But Starving Slvts has grown on me, in such a way I enjoy it more than Skitzofrenia Simulation, for example. While Skitzofrenia Simulation is admittedly much more polished in terms of sound design and arrangement, there's something about Starving Slvts that is really fascinating. It messes around with various different sounds, it's harsh, it conveys pain in such an aggressive way you just can't properly describe it with words.
      I admit other Sewerslvt albums have a much wider variety of sounds and genres, like Sewer//Slvt and Skitzofrenia Simulation, but I see Starving Slvts as more of an album that keeps a common theme across the whole experience, but makes the best out of what it has and makes an experience that feels fresh all the way through while not distancing itself from the theme it established.

    I just had to go look at a bunch of Power Electronics songs just to be sure, and I dont think the genre of this album could really be considered that.
    The main differences that i've noticed are that the songs in this album have more of a beat to them, they have a sort of rythm. As for most Power Electronic songs, they dont really have a rythm or a beat at all, and most likely dont even have any sort of bpm. They're mainly pure noise. If you wanna know what power electronics really is, i suggest you listen to something like 'Whitehouse - Why You Never Became A Dancer". a horrible song which could be considered barely listenable to most.
    I dont really know much about power electronics, but what i can say is that its barely even music, although still technically is. It's not really something you can say about this album

      I'm not sure, but I believe it's because of 1 of the samples she used, and because of the cover, containing loli hentai. I heard Jvnko stated she sampled an interview with a p*dophile once, and I believe this is the album where she used that interview, but I don't know if that is true. You can hear someone talk about children at 35:52, but this is just my own observation. I don't know what sample that is. This led to people thinking she also sampled child pornography, but she has stated she never sampled that. People tried to cancel her for it. Because of that and some other smaller controversies, she decided to delete a lot of her work. It's sad cause dopamine rush is one of my favorite songs.
