it's actually common that voice actors forget exactly how to do a characters voice when they haven't done it for a while. joel's voice probably sounds a little diff in the sequel or he simply just wasn't in character and has to be more into it in order to sound more like joel. cause he was casually doing joel's voice here ya know? not trying too hard.
