  • In a further attempt to add some colour & shape contrast around the F11 I use some more matt black rubber paint.

    Reminds me of painting tetraseal on the sills of the shit boxes I had when I first started driving. At least your not having to paint over rust. Think a curve down at the front also would have made it look a bit like an eighties body kit. At least if you have second thoughts, it will peel off easy enough.

    Ace job for some lockdown DIY. I would maybe add a motorsport decal or something in white lettering near the rear just so it can be seen as a skirt and it doesnt make the sill look higher than it is. How did the rear bumper look in the end?

    Hi, great video !! Do you have any picture of your wheels with calipers painted blue? does the blue caliper look good on background? because the wheel have too much ray. Thank you and regards from Argentina!

    Greatings from Italy and congratulations for your helpful videos!! I'd ask you if this full dip was gloss or not. Because it seems to be more gloss than the windows trim you've done. Thank you

      Hi there 👍
      It’s actually matt black, although the finish I got on both skirts was much smoother than with PlastiDip & I noticed it doesn’t have a rubbery feel like you get with PlastiDip. I think this smooth & even finish gives it more of a ‘satin’ look, but up close it really is matt black. I think I prefer using Full Dip over PlastiDip after this 👍

    I think vinyl wrap looks better, however you do need a decent quality wrap and a heat gun to apply it successfully, now you have back side skirts I think you need to upgrade those rims too!

    How resistant to stone chips, road debris is plasti -Dip would it need a top coat of clear lacquer for durabilty ?

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому +1

      No, it’s very resilient. There are special glossy or satin top coats which you can apply, but they aren’t absolutely necessary

    Have you ever tried to use longer strokes when spray painting?

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому +1

      You’re right, my spraying technique is probably quite amateur but I’m improving all the time. This job was a little different because I noticed immediately that these Full Dip cans layed down much thicker & darker than the PlastiDip I had used before.

    Does the spray withstand a automatic car wash with the nylon type roller mops ? Don’t want to try this and then next week have to peel it off after half of it gets demolished in a car wash !?!?

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому +1

      Well, I don’t actually use those type of car washes so I’m not certain. I do know it’ll hold up to a decent pressure washer up close though 👍

    Hi
    Following your vids as I have a F10.
    One modification I want to do to mine is changing the colour of the headlining and pillar covers from light brown to black.
    Can you do that project and make a video of how you did it?
    Only way I can think of doing it is by buying a replacement set which on fleabay is around the 800 mark.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому

      If you’re talking about the main fabric parts of the headlining then you could dye it black with some fabric dye. I’ve actually used some spray-on black fabric dye for a similar job before, although it may be better to apply it carefully and slowly with a brush for your job. You do not want to get drips or accidents on the interior.

    • @bobwarner8345
      @bobwarner8345 4 роки тому

      @@Nut_Job. I personally think all interiors should have black fabric headlinings as they look much better than the light brown colour they tend to use.
      Would you consider changing the colour of yours?

  • @simonnelson7770

    Looks pretty good but won't it come off quite easily?

    • @Nut_Job.
      @Nut_Job.  4 роки тому

      It shouldn’t do. PlastiDip and other rubber ‘paints’ are made to be peel-able, but they don’t start peeling easily - you have to really rub on the edges to get it started. I had a PlastiDip panel on the rear of a Mitsubishi car for over a year with no problems at all. People paint whole cars in this stuff and usually expect 3+ years from it.
