I'm an infp and I feel like I'm pretty good at understnading Te in the sense that I am good at organizing projects, setting myself deadlines for in between steps etc. However, I find it extremely hard to stick to these plans, especially if nobody else has to rely on me. It's like in theory Te comes quite naturally to me but as soon as I actually have to execute any of the plans I made I struggle a lot.
Yeah, that's Te inferior for you. My INFP brother has the same problem. Keep pushing yourself to organize. If you develop your Te more you will be amazed by what you can accomplish. Remember, Tolkien was an INFP and he wrote Lord of the Rings. That's the kind of thing an INFP can accomplish if they push themselves to organize.
For someone with an ENTJ mum this is scarily accurate! Any goal I want achieved? I go to her- she’ll instantly start creating a plan and prioritising what things I need to do to get it done. It really is quite mesmerising how seemingly and naturally she does it- a truly admirable gift indeed!
@Mira Aljarrah Completely agree with you, Mira. High Ni use combined with either a Te or Fe function is a great tool for planning and solving problems. Being typed an ENFJ myself I tend to operate in this way. XJ's in general are great at this- SJs focusing on present and past resources (which can be equally as valuable) and NJs being more future-oriented, definitely lead to great outcomes!
@Mira Aljarrah Don't be silly Mira! Each type brings its own unique perspectives and strengths. I admire so much how emotionally understanding my INFP friends are. They're so in-tune with their emotions and values and unquestionably always know the right thing to do. However, I can imagine it probably is more difficult seeing as, in the Western world anyway, we live in very SJ oriented cultures.
@Mira Aljarrah Yeah well apparently only 20% of the world are real intuitives so it makes sense why we're rarer lol! But regardless, at the end of the day, it just makes us more special and valuable to be around in my opinion haha!
As an INFP, I can make very detailed, beautifully planned ways to organize things, but when it comes time to execute, I end up rebeling from my own plans and doing something else instead. I didn’t understand why until I learned more about myself. But I’m STILL a mystery that I’m dying to solve. 😆
I am philosophically, emotionally, spiritually, and morally invested in doing things efficiently. Work smart, not hard. Even feeling my feelings should happen efficiently...one emotional outburst, to the concerned parties only, state possible solutions if needed, then move on. Whether situation improved or not. Next.
@mystic mediator Reflection may come at a later time, if it seemed the outburst was impractical. An emotional outburst can be positive (joy) and negative (anger), so sometimes reflection isn't necessary. TBH anger is really draining, I don't like it, so if I've gotten to that point it's because plenty of thought has gone into it, i.e. I have to have decided it was worth potential consequences before I went there.
4:02 "Ti users create rules, Te users create systems" At first thought, the two things seem to be two sides of the same coin. But it was an interesting though experiment trying to figure out the difference between the two by thinking of examples. As a software developer, I very quickly jumped to a programming language or framework being the "Ti" part, as in it gives us an understanding of the compiler and how we can use it to write code and programs. The software created are the actual systems, or the "Te" part, which exist to actively solve problem and achieve specific goals.
As an INFP, I find that I am largely resistant to big uses of Te (like concrete goal setting, planning a weekly schedule, etc.) but thrive in applying Te to small things, such as loading the dishwasher in the most efficient manner... I get really, really intense loading the dishwasher 😂 . . . . That being said, as a tip for others who have inferior Te, I have noticed that if while making plans and trying to schedule/organize/bring to order larger things that actually involve me, I am much better able to implement a system if I account and plan ahead for my own chaotic energy and dislike of being forced into a routine, and make exceptions and allowances ahead of time... it's a backwards way of doing things, and kind of like working around an insolent child, but it works ;)
INFP here. Totally agree with your second point. Plan for your chaotic energy, eheh! How true! I like using spreadsheets. But I often end up with too many and too many papers and to-do lists, one here, another there (typical Ne problem)
Agree with the dishwasher point so strongly! I get very intense about random little things too, like when my mom decided to put a garbage can in a cupboard in the kitchen. The thought of having food-covered hands and having to open two doors before being able to throw anything out seemed insane to me. Every kitchen needs a foot-opening garbage can. It should be the law. Your tip is great, too. Gotta work around the insolence 😅.
INTJs may or may not agree with this: INTJs have emotions that are there but don't show them fast enough (or they are analyzing them). INTJs have few close friends that are typically other INTJs, INTPs, INFPs, ENTJs, ENFPs and ESFP. INTJs have the ability to "shut down" emotion from a situation to deal with the emotion later, privately. INTJs will procrastinate if they can, but would not like it and would see it as a waste of time which could have been spent on setting up and ensuring plans are being met. INTJs are nearly always stressed and don't fall asleep fast. INTJs never think that they are good enough and always want to be better. INTJs can and will obsess over something intensely for a period of time before moving to the next object of our attention. INTJs will consciously and subconciously follow and achieve their goals. They will achieve their goals through any means necessary, and at most times would maintain morality. INTJs like introspection and understanding everything around them and about themselves. INTJs like to feel like they are in control of their life, and any other situation that has weight upon their goals. INTJs can be called "detached" and "coldblooded" by family and friends. INTJs can take a while to make decisions because they are thinking about pros and cons, and what the decision means to their future, and what the risks are. INTJs are reluctant leaders and will lead only if a) they have to, b) no one else is suitable, c) they want to in order to further advance their goals/ keep on a plan. INTJ's envisioned life might be: good profession + loyal/ intelligent spouse + possibly children + house + wealth + small fame in professional field. INTJs can have a fixed wardrobe to avoid thinking about clothes (I plan on doing so). INTJs are generally slow to anger, loyal, will forgive but slowly. INTJs are generally pessimists and think about existential crisis as well as paradoxes. INTJs values these 5 traits (in order of importance): intelligence, loyalty, integrity, efficiency, understanding. ~ INTJ who has INTJ friend
I'm an INTJ so my answers : "INTJs have emotions that are there but don't show them fast enough (or they are analyzing them)" - *Somewhat agreed* - truth to be told it all depends on the situation and the emotion in question. 1. Anger and fear make me act irrationally, I try to restrain myself from both action and speech when I'm angry, as for the unreasonable fears, I see it as a weakness that I tend to face and overcome them. 2. Sadness, negative emotions like sadness, I almost never feel this way, and crying doesn't help me solve my problems, although I would not hesitate to show these emotions. 3. Happiness, I have no hesitation at all about showing happiness or spreading positive energy. "INTJs have few close friends that are typically other INTJS, INTPS, INFPs, ENTJS, ENFPS and ESFP" - *Agreed* - I think I agree with this one, in my social circles people are usually like me, NT types, one of my close friends is INTP, but I don't mind being around any type, I can usually recognize a trustworthy peoson on first sight, I avoid toxic and fake people, while I don't mind being around emotional people, I avoid being a shoulder to cry on, I would instead help them solve their problems which made them feel like that "INTJs have the ability to "shut down" emotion from a situation to deal with the emotion later, privately" - *Mostly agreed* - as I already said this is mostly true, but I would rather confront the problem, or person which made me feel that way after I'm calmed down than keep it myself "INTJs will procrastinate if they can, but would not like it and would see it as a waste of time which could have been spent on setting up and ensuring plans are being met. INTJs are nearly always stressed and don't fall asleep fast. INTJs never think that they are good enough and always want to be better." - *False* - I agree with seeing the procrastination as a waste of time, however, I almost never do it. To me procrastination and burnout happens when I don't have a clear goal and I don't have a clear vision or plan to achieving that goal, It makes me feel that what I'm doing is essentially pointless and I lose motivation to continue. Also I'm not that often stressed out and I can be very focused and concentrated even under stressful situations, I do not stress myself about something that I cannot control, I also have no problem falling asleep quickly? However I do *agree* with the last statement that I always strive to be better, and that I always look for improvement, as for my self worth I know my capacities and I'm not afraid to take the risk and go far beyond them, so the low self-esteem is *false* as well. "INTJs can and will obsess over something intensely for a period of time before moving the next object of our attention." - *Unsure* - if it's an idea, some great idea that I have in my head with great chances of working, then I *agree* however I wouldn't move on until I see my idea becoming reality. If it's something random to obsess about, I usually don't obsess over trivial things such as events or what other people are doing in their lives. I'm far more interested in discussing ideas, theories and possibilities of what could be, scientific theories etc. gossips do not interest me in the slightest, events like "Some famous singer ate the potato" do not interest me at all "INTJs will consciously and subconciously follow and achieve their goals. They will achieve their goals through any means necessary, and at most times would maintain morality." - *Mostly true* - Because I would not maintain my integrity and morality "most times", I will maintain it all the time, and if I have to stand up against someone because I think they're wrong, I'd stand up for the right thing and my beliefs, I'll never say something is true if it isn't, I'm a very objective person "INTJs like introspection and understanding everything around them and about themselves." - *False* - plain false I can't even remember the last time I thought of introspection, or wondered around in introspective thoughts? Are we supposed to be like this? This is false? However I do appreciate knowledge, understanding and knowing how systems around me work "INTJs like to feel like they are in control of their life, and any other situation that has weight upon their goals" - *Very agreed* - I like being in control of everything, I enjoy and prefer being the one in charge / control / organizer. And school for example, which restricts freedom and makes me feel like I'm not in control of anything, indeed is nothing more but a weight to my goals "INTJs can be called "detached" and "coldblooded" by family and friends." - *False* - I'm not called detached from reality or cold by others? We are supposed to be cold? "INTJs can take a while to make decisions because they are thinking about pros and cons, and what the decision means to their future, and what the risks are" - *False* - I'm very decisive, and I quickly make decisions. However, there are two different kinds of decisions. 1. It concerns only me, I can make this kind of decision extremely quickly as I know exactly what I want and I only have to think about how does this decision help me achieve my goal. 2. It concerns me and others as a group, I like considering how is it helping us as a group achieve the goal, consult others and hear their opinion, list pros and cons, and make the final decision. Note : I almost never second guess my decision. For me, finalizing the decision is more important than necessarily arriving at the best possible decision, I believe sometimes there isn't a right or wrong decision, there's just a decision and they all lead to the same end. I also consider past experiences, but it is not what mainly helps me decide, I consider past faliures and how were similar problems resolved in the past only in order to make a better decision "INTJs are reluctant leaders and will lead only if a) they have to, b) no one else is suitable, c) they want to in order to further advance their goals/ keep on a plan." - *False* - I'd take the role at any given time, in any social situation, If someone else is more suitable, sure, they can lead us, and I'm willing to learn from them. This is all, debatable because I don't know on which situation you mean, in school the most I can do is volunteer to lecture instead of a professor (and I did this many times lmao), but outside of school, in my social circles, I'm usually the one to initiate activities and find something to do. "INTJ's envisioned life might be: good profession + loyal/ intelligent spouse + possibly children +house+ wealth + small fame in professional field." - *False* - I set on purpose nearly impossible goals for myself, to always strive for something greater, to never lose motivation. My envisioned perfect life is a president, a billionaire, huge fame, seemengly unlimited wealth, to build a colony on Mars, to progress science, help humanity become a better place for everyone. Also don't ask me why I want this level of success or the highest level, I just want it, and I'll shape my own future. As for my love life, I'm not really into that kind of thing, if I find a good wife, I found her, if not, doesn't matter. "INTJs can have a fixed wardrobe to avoid thinking about clothes (I plan on doing so)." - *Unsure* - I have never really cared about what I'm wearing or what others think about what I'm wearing or what others think about me in general, I only wear clothes I feel comfortable wearing "INTJs are generally slow to anger, loyal, will forgive but slowly." - *Somewhat agreed* - I am sometimes impulsive, but I try to avoid showing impulsiveness. However I will never forgive someone who betrayed me, I will never truly trust them again, not even in the lifetime, this doesn't mean I'll take revenge either, for me such people are not worth more than a tool, I'd rather have a medium performing high trusted worker than a highest performing and untrusted one "INTJs are generally pessimists and think about existential crisis as well as paradoxes." - *False* - I'm not a pessimist, actually, I'm quite optimistic in my approach to everything, and existential crisis? Why would I have that? Although I like and enjoy reading about paradoxes as a hobby, especially time paradox, trying to think of a solution to the problem. "INTJs values these 5 traits (in order of importance): intelligence, loyalty, integrity, efficiency, understanding." - *False* - The actual order for me is : integrity, loyalty, efficiency, understanding, intelligence #1 Integrity and loyalty - you can be the smartest person in the world, the most competent person to ever walk the Earth, if you're a liar, fake, dishonest, you're nothing to me and not worth more than a tool #2 Efficiency - efficiency is very important to me. I like getting things done quickly, so naturally I like this trait in others as well, if you're not an efficient person, not a big deal, I'll help you become more efficient and productive, you can always talk to me about efficiency issues #3 Understanding - not of high importance to me, if you have difficulty understanding anything in general, it's not a big deal, as long as you're willing to listen and ask, I will help you understand #4 Intelligence - almost not important to me at all, intelligence isn't everything, and I don't judge people based on how fast they can learn something or if I'm quicker than them when it comes to figuring out the solution. You can easily pass without this trait if other four are fulfilled. As long as you're willing to improve, your IQ is of no importance to me
Someone here is not INTJ I'm supposed to be INTJ, but I just realized I answered on most of the questions with false, meaning there's someone who isn't INTJ Also I forgot to mention I'm 8w7 enneagram
"Ti users might create rules or principles, whereas Te users create systems" i really like this point, makes a lot of sense I thought it was weird, because i also try to systematize a lot, as an INFJ After you said that i realized i have a ton of principles and rules - that i forget to follow - but not really systems
I'm so envious of all high TE users! Seems to be the most useful function of them all for coping succesfully with the outer world. I'm so struggling with that. I'm an INFJ and can't 'TE' very well😅😅 I think it's the most boring and stressful thing to do.
@@Tori-je1dm I think that most TE people do have good people skills. We are highly observant and want to maximize our interactions with people. We are not good on the empathy side, but we are friendly, usually outgoing, and constantly want to help people achieve their best life. Sometimes we can be too pushy or abrasive. Experience and maturity can smoot those traits out as time goes on.
As an INTJ, I have to say that whenever my Te comes 'out' it seems to make people dislike me, I'd much rather have Fe in that slot. Wanna be able to read that room yo!
@@youreworthyourweightinavoc7189 As you get older and hopefully wiser, it gets easier to read the room even as a high TE user. I admire his FE users, but we all have pluses and minus to our personalities. While it is nice to be liked by people because you are a people pleaser, I enjoy having just a few friends that I can call TRUE friends, with whom I both admire and trust. And my best friend is NI/FE!
@@susankievman642 As a Te user, how can you ever be confident you're reading the room well? You are never going to be able to make a factual analysis of whether your interpretation is correct. And you don't have the benefit of Fe as a natural strength. I will always err on the side of caution and assume I do not understand either individual or interpersonal emotions in the room unless it is made abundantly clear.
As an ISFP what he says about resisting standardization is pretty spot on. Honestly, I don't understand why I have such an aversion to it. Making a plan is difficult, sticking to it is even harder. it's like do or do not there is no try and there is no plan I make it up as I go. it's effective in certain areas of life like learning skills and creating art but so incredibly detrimental to others like long-term sustainability and systemization.
I am an ISFP myself. And I also do find it hard to stick to a certain flow of activities. Like on one occasion, there'll be a conscious decision to really follow or do what everyone else is doing, but in my case I can't really put myself into it. I do become harsh with myself thinking I'm not doing great because I do different things.
You just explained my Te brain, lots of truth in that! Te is like we're so focused on something, its everything to us for that particular moment, then when its complete we move on like it dont exist anymore! Now we have a new target to focus on the "next goal," we are thinking about, this keep happening till we put all our goals together making one huge functional system. And the order is everything we tend to organise a plan of the correct order to tackle task, then start building from there. Yes efficiency is king for Te and we tend to get angry irritated stressed out etc if anything is inefficient and it applies to everything in our world. From the way you make my coffee at the coffee shop, to the way they structured the information of a text book at school, with lots of unneeded topics which aren't even in the assessment. I'm constantly asking "why" is that there? It dont need to be... do they not see they dont need that? Or "why" do you make it so hard for yourself? Waste more time then needed, make your life harder then it has to be? (meanwhile we have no clue others dont see what we see) We constantly find better ways to make things more systematic, to flow better, to be faster, to be more effective, for all who are using it, we want to make it easier for all involved etc. We want a system that everyone can pick up and find useful.. where happy when we can succeed at that, that's an accomplishment to us.
Dude I JUST realized that this guy and Frank James aren't the same person, and I've been watching videos from both of them for months. How far can bad facial recognition go?
so bad that there's a named disorder for it and some movies made about it ;) Who's gonna play you in the next film? Lol you don't even know what anyone looks like, so you can't pick haha
As an infp, I can get super driven as soon as I can see how to do things. Like I can take a while before I can think up a melody, but as soon as I’ve got an idea of what I want to do, ideas keep flowing and I keep going until it’s done and it’s exciting. Other people would get tired but I love it so much I forget to eat and sleep and it’s all I think about. So 🤷♀️ I remember I got super inspired when I was told to create a musical. Everyone else got super exhausted but I had limitless energy and stamina and was super excited.
I'm an INFP and the last two years have been all about developing this function for me. I started bullet journaling a year ago and it has changed my life. Life is better with Te -- I'm developing efficiency and follow-through.
Can you elaborate. My weekly monthly journal looks like a repeat of failed execution, a spider web of possibilities, affirmations/quotes, self care intentions, and it all seems important to do now yesterday and then I feel the sauna or cycling, a walk is the most important thing. It helps but then I need a ten day week to actually feel I’m working on the administrative tasks. I have hired people which helps yet the training takes time and often I know I could’ve done this in two minutes by myself. Annoying. Anyhow I’ve drawn out a bullet template but it seemed a lot of preparation to do on the regular. Help! Thank you.
@@SEVENTHREEANDNINE I'm not sure how much I can help. Most of what I've done is just trial and error. I've tried a LOT of different spreads. And I know that I'm prone to what I'm calling "tracking fatigue" so I never have a tracker unless there's a very good reason. Mostly I'm just writing things down so I don't forget them and having a to-do list every day so I get a little satisfaction from coloring in a task. The big thing is to do what works for you, not follow the instagram trends. Also sometimes I get bored of my bujo so I switch a lot of my planning to an app/website called Habitica for a while and then switch back when I get bored again. I also use an app called forest for a focus timer. (Forest isn't free --$5 I think) I have attention and boredom problems so I have to switch things up fairly frequently. I respond well to challenges, creative projects, and gamification. Find the things that trigger hard work in yourself though because they could be wildly different. I will say a BIG help was a course called HB90 by HeartBreathings here on youtube. It does cost money, but I had a discount because I took her publishing course. And you DO get lifetime access. It's pretty ADHD friendly too, which is important to me. If you don't want to take the course, you can probably get the gist from her quarterly planning videos. I really like her realistic approach to time management, although I've never been able to follow through with a kanban -- I do my planning in my journal.
My boss is an ENTJ and I'm an INFP. This chick is always trying to fix everything including us. I ignore her for the most part, but she can be difficult at times. My counterparts fight her at lot and love to point out her flaws which I know makes her want to fix whatever it is they point out or prove them wrong. I only check her when necessary as occasionally. She often takes my kindness for weakness. However, I'm no sucker or pushover. I just make sure that when I have something to say to her it's at the most effective time. She is an impatient bugger though. I am looking for a way out of there because her behavior is anxiety inducing. I am usually often the target of her efficiency tirades as I do things completely different than her. And that's because my TE is my weakest function. My father is an ENTJ and gave up trying to constantly improve me. He has learned how to accept who I am and only gives suggestions when necessary.
Your father may accept you the way you are, but in the workplace you must use the best option towards efficiency. As you’ve mentioned, TE is your weakest function and you’re complaining because the boss is picking on you for doing things in a different way. Very often, the person is stuck in the way of doing one thing, even if that doubles the time for the task. Well.... as a manager of a team that drives you crazy because you must use the resources of the entire team in the most efficient way. I am aware that from outside it doesn’t look like we’re the most friendly, but what we’re doing is for the group efficiency regardless of someones feelings. From an ENTJ that is constantly developing the weaker functions.
Interesting and correct as usual! Me - ISTJ and my dad ESTJ, My dad is the boss of his company, always making procedures, always get something done, his work day last 16 hours of working!! As my Te as auxiliary function, I use Si to find and summarize, squeeze all the information, and details unknown to me, then after knowing all have to know, i use Te to practical and pragmatic execute what i've learn from my Si, so it's pretty much my way to approach work. And my ESTJ dad, who always giving me procedures, and know-how, which is the really great thing i really appreciated. My dad work in Engineering and Automation field, that's also my major :)
The words that you English people consider elegant are just derived from Latin. They are the regular words that us romance language's speakers use on the daily.
this is not related to the video, but I just had to say that I love how organized your channel is. you explain everything really well, you bring us very fitting quotes for the topics and you put every video on a playlist related to the subject. I love your channel. thank you.
As an INTP, I had to deal with Te since forever because my brother and grandmother are both ESTJs. They indirectly and directly helped me a lot in being more organized and objective in regards to external things. And I think I help my brother a lot with being more patient and understanding different "rules" in different contexts, being more assertive etc. Btw Nathan, I guess Jose Mourinho must have Te inferior then😂
My mom is ESTJ and she acts exactly the same, but the worst part when I abstractly explained something then my mom just being agitated and I'm getting frustrated for can't explain it in simple way and it goes around everytime we have an argument😅😅
"...managing to kill multiple people-multiple birds-with one stone." Was that a "Freudian" slip, or intentional humor? I was raised by an ESTJ, a very unhealthy one, and...,um,...let's just say, between his navy career, and the habits (urges, is maybe more correct) that never left him upon return to civilian life...uh, he would have gladly continued. Since he couldn't kill people physically anymore, he honed in on certain ones to kill emotionally...mostly his kids and stepkids....
As a really high Te and Ni user, you are right. I am not interested in celebrating my success every time, at least I don't say it, and the surrounding people are more cheerful than I am. Indeed, secretly I make little things for myself and I feel just better, just in peace but never relaxed because I know my goals are endless.
"Te users tend to create external systems. They spend time and effort creating this external system, then the system itself does the work from then on." Me, an INTJ: *spends hours building automatic spreadsheets and commands just so I don't have to do things manually in the future, stressing myself in the process* My teammate: it's... it's okay, I don't mind doing it manua- Me: *fist slam, with my eyes twitching* NO ONE IS DOING THINGS MANUALLY IN THIS HOUSE.
I'm currently working on a monthly schedule so that I don't have to do daily logs just to track progress. In fact, I'm just gonna find a better daily and weekly planning system to support the monthly plan. And a daily check list would be more satisfying, because i love checking boxes.
It just depends on how you define 'most active'. Extroverted functions are more active than internal , but all on different fields. Te is most active with doing things, Fe is socially most active, Ne is ideationally most active and Se sensory most active.
My younger brother enfp, my younger sister entp. I'm intj. I built a structure and system and taught them how to use Te. They're now really good at it.
A question to Te individuals, from an INFP: I have the following to-do list, giving that you Te-types have a genius for systematisation, how would you priority my long-term to-do list: Task 1. Improve my Te skills. Task 2. At age 38 with a young daughter, I am a career switcher, I want to finally construct my new career (I currently have a part-time job and I am searching for a new job more in tune with my career aspirations - I will have a second part-time job in soon in that field to gain skills and I contemplate the option to do a second master) and also to improve my income. Task 3. Improve the relationship with my wife (I am an INFP, she is an ESFJ or ISFJ). Maybe with counselling. Not an easy task. Task 4. Learn her native language (as she might want to return to her home country). Task 5. Find a place of living that suits both of us and the education for our daughter. Task 6. Buy a house. My sense has been following 1 to 6 in that order. Your feedback is appreciated (and please when you do so, let me know which one is your type). Thanks! Being a INFP I found this video to be incredible helpful.
Hm, what are your examples? Everywhere I look is a disorganized mess of Si-like “but that is how we’ve always done it and change is scary”. Every workplace I’ve redone documentation, inventory, operating procedures, etc because people are mostly really bad at meeting standards of quality and efficiency at the same time... one is usually sacrificed for the other rather than updating an inadequate system.
@@Sharkuterie327 that’s a great way of putting it, I think the world that surrounds us today is a product of Si and Te no doubt. And it can be scary, intimidating and rigid. But my examples of Te are the procedures that exist between the Si benchmarks and metrics, include how resources are distributed, how political and economic systems work and shape themselves. It’s the interdisciplinary world of Te that fascinates me, as opposed to the Disciplinary world of Si. I think if one element is isolated, it’s an Si product. The sum of all these parts are Ni. But what bridges that gap between Si and Ni is the Te. Se, Ne and Ti are all external forces to these “operational frameworks” that fascinate me. What do you think?
@@rayanalfadel5911 For expansive, successful and influential systems undergoing functional change, I can agree, yes. On smaller scales or in stagnant systems, “Si” seems to dominate... I was being a bit ranty because I have a bias when processes don’t work well, haha. Do you know of “systems thinking”, a popular framework for approaching organizational structure in business and technology? Your explanation reminds me of it. It attempts to address the pitfalls of the “disciplinary world” and to me sounds very Ni/De. Where do you suppose Fe figures in to your assessment?
As an ESTJ this was super insightful and confirming. Yes, i often try to kill multiple peo.. Er birds with one stone. I also can emotionally detach once a task is done. I actually help coordinate weddings and events at my church and it energizes me. However, as i listened to this, I have articulated that as an ESTJ i enjoy pioneering projects or things, but am very happy for the other types to fill in where i lack in a project because it gets the task done. 👍✅😎
Get an ENTJ friend! We are not needy, we have little drama in our lives, we are a good balance for you. My best friend is a strong INFJ woman. It is a great combo!
Spot on video about someone with Te addiction on the top. 😍 EVERYTHING can and should be optimized: the way to do my laundry+grocery shopping+piano class, multiple friends meeting+stretching sessions+ dance class, the way to cook meals, educate myself, travel, date, and even relax (well, my mode of relaxing is dropping dead and sleeping). And task lists... oh yes task lists!
INFP. I respect systems and I like planning. But following plans in precise order feels stressful and dumb (machinelike). For execution, time tracking and time blocking work well for me. You get into a box but then you can do any task that fits a category, precision be damned
Very interesting, as your explanation at the beginning hits home for me , staying in the moment is a huge struggle at times. For example, I'm always thinking about the next steps and I have quite the few to-do lists, as well as extensive browser bookmarks, alarms, reminders, schedules, etc.
Btw, entp. I've created and implemented many a new system, so I totally relate to this. I need structure in my life, so often wind up being the one who implements better project management systems, too, and find them incredibly useful.
I've had the privilege to observe INTPs and their Ti-Si logical structures and principles and how it's all interconnected with their Ne and how they can see different possibilities of using this information to help people with their Fe. I am currently working with one, and, can I just say how frustrating it is to see how they handle information and data. They have such a high need to understand information and data to the level of it really not being needed to be understood, and I've seen first hand how this results in an ineffective system in a group setting and how it actually makes everyone feel worse when doing their job. Because of their need to understand more and more information before they act, when they lead, they see more and more possibilities of tasks for people to do at the cost of the time and effort that people need to expend to produce that data when that data is not necessarily a priority and of importance to everyone else in the group at the present moment. Even if producing that data could potentially lead to better ways to proceed with a project, it is incredibly time-consuming and sometimes ends up not even being relevant to the project. As an INTJ, I already feel misunderstood most of the time. And to see this happening to people in real-time, to have someone lead you out of procrastination in a very inefficient way all for the sake of understanding information, is quite inconsiderate, in my opinion. I may not seem like I care with my Fi, but I've seen INTPs use their Fe to convince others to do a task even though I can tell, internally, that people don't want to; it's just torture to have to comply alongside everyone! And so, thank you for this. These days, especially working with an INTP, it just seems that Te and how good it is with handling and prioritizing relevant information and data for application in the real world just isn't as appreciated as it should be. -INTJ
It's about the accuracy, believe me I've tried te ways and I just cant understand how information isn't important...honestly it's like I'm stuck in glue if i can't have more information..luckily intjs help me back on route,ti is incredibly important to understand then being vague.. I wish I used Te..
@@pugninja7037 This is how it usually goes: INTP: If we don't do it this way, it's going to come back to bite us in the ass. It may not be tomorrow, or next month, or even ten years from now, but it will. INTJ: LOL no. It will indubitably come back to bite _somebody_ in the ass, but my intuition tells me that it probably won't be somebody either of us cares about. INTP: Touché. Thanks, honey, for saving me from giving undue consideration to the undeserving. Again.
Hey Nathan. Great job! This infj has a tip for u. U should link the videos u mention at the end instead of leaving it up to the viewer to find them, because it'll be sure to get u more views which equates to more money. 😊 But then again more money more problems so what do I know.
INTJ Here been looking forward to this one I have been quite stagnant in life lately and can't get a move on however Deep inside i have this big effin itch to get shit done and keep going and i genuinely feel unfulfilled and worthless if i havent done anything and didn't do things productive and efficient. Interested if other people feel the same.
The order with which thing are done spoke highly to me. Things just flow from one thing to the next if you get the order correct. Having said that, I am constantly rearranging the order to test things out(ENFP)
As a middle-aged INFP who has Te as an inferior function, I realised that in life there are really four pillars that you need to cement in order for your life to function. The first is your health which you can maintain in a systematic way by engaging in a sport or physical activity like running or cycling which you do on a regular basis to get you to your work or after you finish your shift as it can save you money on transport costs while eliminating the need to find the extra motivation to go to the gym. But base the activity you choose on something you enjoyed as a kid and you can do by yourself like running or cycling. The second pillar is to set up a simple saving and investing strategy whereby you invest in boring financial instruments like index funds etc by direct debit every month to generate the money much quicker that's needed to reach goals like saving up for a deposit on a house, travelling the world or retiring early. The third pillar is what you do with your time. Now that you have your health and finances in order, ruthlessly eliminate the stressors in your life and maximise the time spent on your passion projects. This means if you do a job you hate etc find a way to cut the hours you are doing by utilising the financial resources you've built up so you can maximise the time spent on things like writing that novel that matters more to you than all the riches in the world. And delegate tasks you hate to people that would love to do them or hire people to do stuff you don't want to do whether that be home decorating, cleaning or setting up a marketing campaign etc. The fourth pillar is your relationships. Simply put like a gardener pull out those people from your life that are like weeds in the garden of your mind, that make you feel bad about yourself, don't support your dreams, and don't see how wonderful you really are. All you need in life is one or two people that can act as cheerleaders with the occasional word of wisdom and insight that can give you some words of support when the going gets tough and some fresh insight into a problem that's blocking your way to success. As Micky from Rocky said, 'You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder!' Now, go get 'em, champ.
My sisters are not Te Doms and seeing them not following the chore system we've had to change A MILLION TIMES is so fucking aggravating! Idk why it's so hard to keep things clean! I shouldn't be doing people's jobs and now I'm just gonna focus on saving up and getting my own place... 😭
Hmm. I am an INTP, and so high Ti. I am very good at ordering things (I have to be, because in order to get anything done at all that isn't inside my head, I have to break things down into small tasks, and of course I am going to minimize effort. It's far better to think things through ahead of time, since mental effort essentially comes for free, what with there being no off switch on the brain cycles.) I also spend a lot of time creating systems. Perhaps the difference with Te is that my systems tend to remain theoretical. I am not good at follow-through or finishing things that don't have deadlines.
Good one Nate. I find your insight into these things very fascinating. You're absolutely spot on in this video, at least the way I experience this thing, called life. And you are right. We do get satisfaction from working towards goals. - ENTJ[A]
I dunno. I do a lot of this mental shuffling as a type that is supposed be be a lower Te. I do, however, believe I'm way more likely to compromise my system to fit people's preference in, if I have to, than I used to be. For example, 16 types going camping - who gets to decide where the tent goes, and how it gets set-up? You can find out an awful lot about a family if they have some sort of moving, decorating, or set-up task to do. My INTJ father and I used to fight like cats and dogs over the Christmas tree. LOL
Wait someone please explain to me examples of differences between Ti and Te in terms of what Nathan said about Ti liking rules and principles vs. systems
TE has a strong desire to organize and systemize the outside world. TI desires the organization of the internal world - the world inside their head. TE strives to achieve goals in as efficient a way as possible. TI wants to theorize, think more about it, theorize some more, check out other possibilities, then act on what they find. TE needs to get it done NOW! More impatient!
@@susankievman642 Ah this makes so much more sense, especially if you consider what the rooms of a stereotypical INTP or ENTP looks like haha! Thank you so much!
OH my. INTP here and ... Well, I love to play Magic the Gathering with my friends. One day we wanted to replay Lorwyn deck. When I was constructing my pack I heard one friend commenting all he remembered was treefolk decks lost. I took it in my heart and constructed treefolk deck, winning most of the games. Later I demonstrated my cards I put aside, and there were options for the three best decks we had had in our games. My friends, Te types, were in complete shock and accused me of stupidity. I myself congratulated myself on my brilliancy in constructing a treefolk deck that was winning...
My mum and best friend are both ENTJs and they are literally AAAAAALLLWAYS working through a list of jobs and can't ever seem to relax. I'm an INFP so relax is basically all I do ha
As someone with two dom Te users at home (My Dad and Sister are ENTJs). I can relate to this. They try to structure even me. Especially my Dad. I'm ISFJ by the way.
@@englishmuffin7 I won't use the word "pushover", I'll just say that we like to keep peace with everyone (especially those we love and care about) even if it involves doing what people want. But we are also pretty rational thanks to our third function-Ti. People have the wrong notion of ISFJs. In as much as we like for people to be happy (using our second-Fe), there are times in our lives where we stand for ourselves and determine what we want using our (Si-Ti). Sometimes, the situation determines if we use Fe or Ti+Si.
As an INFP, TE is in fourth place. It's more like a choleric with a megaphone always yelling: "GET STARTED!" Normally, I only use TE when important things need to be done and don't really have the motivation. Thanks to tertiary SI, I am always reminded of the consequences if I don't do my paperwork. This is the only time, where I envy ESTJS and ISTJS, it comes naturally to them. They can do boring stuff and thrive on it. Sometimes I find TE very annoying, but it has its uses and I don't want to miss it.
According to cognitive functions, yes. ENFP's are stereotypically great at creative thinking and creating new ideas (dom Ne) but are weaker when it comes to implementation and actually following through with them; hence why Te is needed. Most likely some ENFP's develop Te faster than others depending on life circumstances and theoretically you can work on developing it but according to cognitive functions yes it will get stronger with age..
As a Te inf, I do feel restless when there are tasks not done. Though I didn't do much to finish my tasks, I just felt restless and being swayed around
I have an ENTJ f̶r̶i̶e̶n̶d̶ acquaintance, and they are forever educating me on efficiency 😅 also, I have TE as an opposing function. How would I use it? ~ an interested and enquiring INTP
a simple way for an INTP might be worth making a quick evaluation on any topic on whether it's worth doing all that Ti work. Like will the benefit of using your Ti to figure out the problem to its root be a worthwhile expenditure of your time and energy
@@youreworthyourweightinavoc7189 oh ok. Yeah I have done that before too, like whether it’s really worth the effort 😅 thanks so much for your reply! I found it very helpful 😄
ha! that narrows one thing down. I'm always looking for ways to make something more efficient and easier to do. I'm the character in Jabberwocky who moves the thing closer to make it work more effecient LOL hopefully not in the process causing the whole system to fail like in Jabberwocky. Actually even my conversations are all about how inefficient systems in the world are and how it needs fixing.
I was recently informed that I use Ni-Fe, but I think I often find myself using systems as an approach to life especially in terms of productivity. Does this mean it’s counterintuitive to Ti as my third function?
I think Ni might also lend itself to a systematic approach, since it's about seeing connections between different things and using that to predict possible future outcomes. So maybe it's Ni and Ti working together?
@@youreworthyourweightinavoc7189 I can see why, I always respond by what it means to me and then usually appropriate the statement on how the person may gauge with it, but I’m always skeptical when it comes to my own observation. Relatively, I find myself using systems adapted from books or know theories (though I mix them sometimes as well according to the expected outcome). Still not sure, maybe Ni-Te instead? Btw, the Ni-Fe was only determined as a guess or partial result.
@@hwanchu665 Taking in knowledge and processing what that means to you lends more to Ti than Te. Te isn't going to read instructions or a book on something and then act on it by abiding by a system. That's all an internal process. Te just wants to create the external system and teach others how to benefit from it.

4:02 "Ti users create rules, Te users create systems"
At first thought, the two things seem to be two sides of the same coin.
Out of all the vloggers doing MBTI, I like your format the most. It's informative, structured and well explained.
Kudos from NZ! Good job Nathan!
I happen to have family in New Zealand, Waka Nathan is my grandfather! ~ Nathan
As an INFP, I find that I am largely resistant to big uses of Te (like concrete goal setting, planning a weekly schedule, etc.) but thrive in applying Te to small things, such as loading the dishwasher in the most efficient manner... I get really, really intense loading the dishwasher 😂
.
.
.
INTJs may or may not agree with this:
INTJs have emotions that are there but don't show them fast enough (or they are analyzing them). INTJs have few close friends that are typically other INTJs, INTPs, INFPs, ENTJs, ENFPs and ESFP.
INTJs have the ability to "shut down" emotion from a situation to deal with the emotion later, privately.

~ INTJ who has INTJ friend
As an INTJ, I totally agree to everything 👍
I'm an INTJ so my answers :
"INTJs have emotions that are there but don't show them fast enough (or they are analyzing them)"
- *Somewhat agreed* - truth to be told it all depends on the situation and the emotion in question.
"INTJs have few close friends that are typically other INTJS, INTPS, INFPs, ENTJS, ENFPS and ESFP"
- *Agreed* - I think I agree with this one, in my social circles people are usually like me, NT types, one of my close friends is INTP, but I don't mind being around any type, I can usually recognize a trustworthy peoson on first sight, I avoid toxic and fake people, while I don't mind being around emotional people, I avoid being a shoulder to cry on, I would instead help them solve their problems which made them feel like that
"INTJs have the ability to "shut down" emotion from a situation to deal with the emotion later, privately"
- *Mostly agreed* - as I already said this is mostly true, but I would rather confront the problem, or person which made me feel that way after I'm calmed down than keep it myself
"INTJs will procrastinate if they can, but would not like it and would see it as a waste of time which could have been spent on setting up and ensuring plans are being met. INTJs are nearly always stressed and don't fall asleep fast. INTJs never think that they are good enough and always want to be better."
- *False* - I agree with seeing the procrastination as a waste of time, however, I almost never do it.
"INTJs can and will obsess over something intensely for a period of time before moving the next object of our attention."
- *Unsure* - if it's an idea, some great idea that I have in my head with great chances of working, then I *agree* however I wouldn't move on until I see my idea becoming reality. If it's something random to obsess about, I usually don't obsess over trivial things such as events or what other people are doing in their lives. I'm far more interested in discussing ideas, theories and possibilities of what could be, scientific theories etc. gossips do not interest me in the slightest, events like "Some famous singer ate the potato" do not interest me at all
"INTJs will consciously and subconciously follow and achieve their goals. They will achieve their goals through any means necessary, and at most times would maintain morality."
- *Mostly true* - Because I would not maintain my integrity and morality "most times", I will maintain it all the time, and if I have to stand up against someone because I think they're wrong, I'd stand up for the right thing and my beliefs, I'll never say something is true if it isn't, I'm a very objective person
"INTJs like introspection and understanding everything around them and about themselves."
- *False* - plain false I can't even remember the last time I thought of introspection, or wondered around in introspective thoughts? Are we supposed to be like this? This is false?
However I do appreciate knowledge, understanding and knowing how systems around me work
"INTJs like to feel like they are in control of their life, and any other situation that has weight upon their goals"
- *Very agreed* - I like being in control of everything, I enjoy and prefer being the one in charge / control / organizer. And school for example, which restricts freedom and makes me feel like I'm not in control of anything, indeed is nothing more but a weight to my goals
"INTJs can be called "detached" and
"coldblooded" by family and friends."
- *False* - I'm not called detached from reality or cold by others? We are supposed to be cold?
"INTJs can take a while to make decisions because they are thinking about pros and cons, and what the decision means to their future, and what the risks are"
- *False* - I'm very decisive, and I quickly make decisions.
I also consider past experiences, but it is not what mainly helps me decide, I consider past faliures and how were similar problems resolved in the past only in order to make a better decision
"INTJs are reluctant leaders and will lead only if a) they have to, b) no one else is suitable, c) they want to in order to further advance their goals/ keep on a plan."
- *False* - I'd take the role at any given time, in any social situation, If someone else is more suitable, sure, they can lead us, and I'm willing to learn from them.
This is all, debatable because I don't know on which situation you mean, in school the most I can do is volunteer to lecture instead of a professor (and I did this many times lmao), but outside of school, in my social circles, I'm usually the one to initiate activities and find something to do.
"INTJ's envisioned life might be: good profession + loyal/ intelligent spouse + possibly children +house+ wealth + small fame in professional field."
- *False* - I set on purpose nearly impossible goals for myself, to always strive for something greater, to never lose motivation.
"INTJs can have a fixed wardrobe to avoid thinking about clothes (I plan on doing so)."
- *Unsure* - I have never really cared about what I'm wearing or what others think about what I'm wearing or what others think about me in general, I only wear clothes I feel comfortable wearing
"INTJs are generally slow to anger, loyal, will forgive but slowly."
- *Somewhat agreed* - I am sometimes impulsive, but I try to avoid showing impulsiveness. However I will never forgive someone who betrayed me, I will never truly trust them again, not even in the lifetime, this doesn't mean I'll take revenge either, for me such people are not worth more than a tool, I'd rather have a medium performing high trusted worker than a highest performing and untrusted one
"INTJs are generally pessimists and think about existential crisis as well as paradoxes."
- *False* - I'm not a pessimist, actually, I'm quite optimistic in my approach to everything, and existential crisis? Why would I have that? Although I like and enjoy reading about paradoxes as a hobby, especially time paradox, trying to think of a solution to the problem.
"INTJs values these 5 traits (in order of importance): intelligence, loyalty, integrity, efficiency, understanding."
- *False* - The actual order for me is :
integrity, loyalty, efficiency, understanding, intelligence
#1 Integrity and loyalty
- you can be the smartest person in the world, the most competent person to ever walk the Earth, if you're a liar, fake, dishonest, you're nothing to me and not worth more than a tool
#2 Efficiency
- efficiency is very important to me. I like getting things done quickly, so naturally I like this trait in others as well, if you're not an efficient person, not a big deal, I'll help you become more efficient and productive, you can always talk to me about efficiency issues
#3 Understanding
- not of high importance to me, if you have difficulty understanding anything in general, it's not a big deal, as long as you're willing to listen and ask, I will help you understand
#4 Intelligence
- almost not important to me at all, intelligence isn't everything, and I don't judge people based on how fast they can learn something or if I'm quicker than them when it comes to figuring out the solution. You can easily pass without this trait if other four are fulfilled. As long as you're willing to improve, your IQ is of no importance to me

Making a plan is difficult, sticking to it is even harder. it's like do or do not there is no try and there is no plan I make it up as I go. it's effective in certain areas of life like learning skills and creating art but so incredibly detrimental to others like long-term sustainability and systemization.
i’m an INFP and my sister is an ISFP. we both get so easily angered by standardisation, it’s funny to see. i totally get you
I am an ISFP myself.
(meanwhile we have no clue others dont see what we see)
We constantly find better ways to make things more systematic, to flow better, to be faster, to be more effective, for all who are using it, we want to make it easier for all involved etc. We want a system that everyone can pick up and find useful.. where happy when we can succeed at that, that's an accomplishment to us.
Dude I JUST realized that this guy and Frank James aren't the same person, and I've been watching videos from both of them for months. How far can bad facial recognition go?

As an infp, I can get super driven as soon as I can see how to do things. Like I can take a while before I can think up a melody, but as soon as I’ve got an idea of what I want to do, ideas keep flowing and I keep going until it’s done and it’s exciting. Other people would get tired but I love it so much I forget to eat and sleep and it’s all I think about. So 🤷♀️
I remember I got super inspired when I was told to create a musical. Everyone else got super exhausted but I had limitless energy and stamina and was super excited.
me too!! it’s a switch for us. when it’s something we’re passionate about, our Te takes the stage
(Forest isn't free --$5 I think)
I have attention and boredom problems so I have to switch things up fairly frequently.

It just depends on how you define 'most active'. Extroverted functions are more active than internal , but all on different fields. Te is most active with doing things, Fe is socially most active, Ne is ideationally most active and Se sensory most active.

A question to Te individuals, from an INFP:
I have the following to-do list, giving that you Te-types have a genius for systematisation, how would you priority my long-term to-do list: Task 1. Thanks!
Being a INFP I found this video to be incredible helpful.
completely agree. ESTP, was married to an ESTJ, and she never stopped doing things, ever
Not to blow smoke, but this is definitely your calling... Keep up with the good work, you seem to have a great grasp on personality theory!
In a world run by Te, everywhere I look I see a Te framework that surrounds me that just really captures my interest.

A high Te user that is high can accomplish some pretty incredible things.
Oh, btw time tracking is strictly with a phone app where you push a button to start/stop
When you said that out of the high Te users INTJs are the most artistic, I giggled and blushed like a little girl.
INTJ: Oh yes it is indeed so very painful to watch inefficient systems. Iv learned to curb my gut reaction to just jump in and fix it 😂
Think...(pun intended) of an Intj that act while processing a logical application to solve whatever we can encounter...
We would be truly unstoppable!
not just inefficient, but incompetent. double the pain factor.

Thanks for keeping a nice Te tempo during that Nathan ;)

LOL
Wait someone please explain to me examples of differences between Ti and Te in terms of what Nathan said about Ti liking rules and principles vs. systems
ua-cam.com/video/K_ZOaWVG3O0/v-deo.html
TE has a strong desire to organize and systemize the outside world. TI desires the organization of the internal world - the world inside their head. TE strives to achieve goals in as efficient a way as possible. TI wants to theorize, think more about it, theorize some more, check out other possibilities, then act on what they find. TE needs to get it done NOW! More impatient!

Wondering the same thing and agree that both could apply to us. 😂
As an INFP, TE is in fourth place. It's more like a choleric with a megaphone always yelling: "GET STARTED!"
Normally, I only use TE when important things need to be done and don't really have the motivation.
I m ENFP which is Ne Fi Te Si. Te is my auxiliary function which gets better as you age.Is this true though?Do ENFPs become more active as they age?
According to cognitive functions, yes. ENFP's are stereotypically great at creative thinking and creating new ideas (dom Ne) but are weaker when it comes to implementation and actually following through with them; hence why Te is needed. Most likely some ENFP's develop Te faster than others depending on life circumstances and theoretically you can work on developing it but according to cognitive functions yes it will get stronger with age..
Te is not the auxillary of the ENFP. At most you are a jumper type or you prefer to be in Ne-Te loops when you're extroverting.
We don't rise to the level of our expectations, we fall to the level of our training.

So maybe it's Ni and Ti working together?
did you agree with the assessment that you use Ni-Fe?
I have so much respect for the "doing" element of Te types 😢 I'm an infj, legit cannot imagine what it must be like to just... Get things done... And rolling with the chaos??? HOW. I spend hours thinking and planning and still manage to not get it done
I don't think Te users roll with chaos well at all, instead we contingency plan. I think the chaos champs are Se doms
"Rolling with chaos" are ExxPs(Se and Ne).
@@ianfjay6883 you're right i worded myself incorrectly. I guess i just meant like creating structure out of life in general since life seems so chaotic to me. And the ability to stay out of your head and just do things and move on to the next thing
It’s a compulsion for me. 😳
As an INFJ, my relationship with Te is....fuget about it....I just delegate it 😃
Hi, super informative video but I couldn't find it in the cognitive functions playlist could you maybe add it in there?
Please make a video about 16 personalities sort into Divergent types (Erudite, Amity, Candor, Dauntless, Abnegation) thanks
John Maclean without makeup. The voice and all.
do INFJs tend to make to do lists ? are they organized, because they do have a plan right ? bout they don't have Te , so how much organized are they ?
Hello, thank you for your analysis. What, may I ask, is your temperament?
He's super NT. Like I would date him. I only want NTs. Specifically of the Ixxx variety.
