Jason I'm sorry that link does work. I was confused. I am looking for the make and model of the laser level you had in the video. Do you have that. Or is it somewhere in the link you have up. I'll keep looking.

13 years after I retired and sold off everything out of my 2 car garage, it was so full I used to say that I had to exit the garage to change my mind. Most jobs would end up out on the driveway which was concrete so I was only hindered by the rain (in Houston)

I put the screws in at 3 feet and then 16 feet for that so I had something to attach my string line to so I could pull the strings for my post. Yes I can add 16+3 it’s 18! Lol.

The UA-cam rabbit hole sometimes leads you to great places.
I discovered Perkins channel a couple of months ago and have been chewing through their playlists, until just the other day I saw the vid Building A House Start To Finish | Episode 24 from 3 years ago where they mention Ray & Jay, and from there to this vid.
    Great work, Jay!
Learning from such experienced and generous masters of the craft as Jamie & Arlo is the best experience, and it shows in your work!

Jason, your level of video production has drastically levelled up. I can see the thought process and effort, and creative ways to capture your work coming through. Each video gets better and better. I cant stress that enough. And the fact youre doing projects that all of us will do, or plan to do, or dream of doing - on our own property someday - its a huge bonus for me. If I can offer some small small criticism, its that your mic is a little loud, and muffled sometimes. May be a result of the improvements you've made lately. Well done again brother, cheers!

Love your channel brother. Just a note though I would double check with Arlo on that trick. If your string line is not parallel to the existing wall the trick will still work but it just tells you where the perpendicular bisector of that wall will intersect your string line (aka center). Comes from a pencil compass. But it doesn’t tell you if your string line is parallel to the wall or not, just helps you find center. I would pull diagonals to your 8’ marks to double check maybe I’m wrong!
Still I’m sure it’s close enough for what you need and can’t wait for the next video!!! Keep up the great videos brother!!

When we build retaining walls, we:
    1) Stake a line, just as you did
    2) Dig all the holes in a row
    3) Set the first and last posts
    4) Pull a string line between the first and last post, but tape a carpenters pencil to those two posts and have the string rest on the pencils
    5) As you work on setting posts through the middle, have them offset from the string the width of the carpenters pencil
5.5) Double check the offset of the post and string by sliding your own pencil between the post and string till it barely touches.

I learnt three good tricks watching this. The first was how to check square other than the 3,4,5, method, the nails into the sides of the post to stop lateral movement and the laser level at any height and then measure up. Just hope I can remember them if I end up doing something in the future. BTW i felt the pain of having to dig those post holes.

Jay, I must have missed something along the way, is the add-on to the garage going to be like a storage area for your riding mower and other machinery, thus making room in the garage to transform into your wood-shop? (work-shop)
Or, is the add-on going to be your new little work-shop?
I guess either way it's going to be awesome having the room you need to work in w/o having to move stuff around. Having a stationary place for your skill-saw and other tools is important! 😊👍

Looking really good. Having a dedicated workshop is great to have every thing in its place. I have a 14'x14' concrete base with a 14' x 8' workshop close to the base. Living halfway up a mountain where everything is a slope having flat areas is a blessing 😂. Rather than having 16" centres for the roof supports I would have thought 24" centres was sufficiently strong for a non-load roof. That would mean having 8 supports instead of 12, saving both time and money. Still you've probably built it by now 😂😂😂 Regards to you and your family / employees 😂 great post, thank you 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
