First Impressions of JAKARTA Indonesia 🇮🇩- NOT what we expected 😱(Indonesian food,Monas,Kota Tua)

- Thanks for watching our first ever Indonesia Travel Vlog!!! This is our first day exploring Jakarta, Indonesia. Before we went to Jakarta, we couldn't find too much information on what to do in Jakarta so we didn't have very high expectations....however Jakarta amazed us! We were lucky that we happened to arrive on a Saturday evening and stumbled upon a blog post that talked about Jakarta's 'Car Free Day'. We knew that this was something we really wanted to see!! The following morning we got up early and headed to the main road which is completely closed to cars every Sunday morning! Instead it was full of people biking, running, walking, and just enjoying the big city! It was such an amazing feeling to walk along a huge city street with no cars! We were also so surprised by how kind everyone was! When we were tired of walking we tried to take Jakarta's metrobus to the Monas, however we couldn't buy a bus card (and we didn't have Indonesian SIM cards to be able to use our phones). One man who got off the bus saw us struggling and proceeded to walk us the whole way to Indomaret, order our transit cards for us, and walk us the whole way back to the metro bus - all while giving us amazing tips on what to do in Jakarta! Once we were back and getting on the train, Carles didn't have a mask and another random person from Jakarta just gave him a mask so he could get on the bus! Then once we got off the bus, we couldn't find the entrance to the Monas and another man walked us to it! SO NICE!!!
After exploring the national monument, we stopped to eat our first ever Indonesian food! We tried Nasi Goreng and Ayam Bakar - both of which were so good! After eating we were able to get a SIM card so we continued on to the famous Istiqial Mosque in Jakarta - the 3rd biggest mosque in the WORLD! We were lucky that we arrived right before a free tour of the mosque. After there, we walked across the street to the cathedral. They were purposefully built right across the street from each other to show that both religions live together peacefully in Indonesia - so cool! From there we took a tuktuk up to Kota Tua - the old Dutch area of Jakarta. We stopped at the famous Cafe Batavia in Taman Fatahillah Square. The coffee and cake were SO good! Unfortunately then it started raining so we cut our day a little early to go home and rest.....but don't worry, we have more Jakarta videos coming soon! ❤️

The best part is when the guy helped you out. It showed that he truly cared. That is why I must leave the US. I miss being around people like that. He reminded me of an old friend of mine who was also Asian. May he be rewarded a 1,000 over for his kindness.

A bit of history info: Indonesia is former Dutch Colony "Dutch East Indies" and Portuguese in some part since 1600s, so don't surprised if you often find similarities in Indonesian language with European language such Dutch and Portuguese plus we read alphabet as what it said just like Spanish but with Dutch alphabets.
Go back to main discussion: There a lot of struggle and conflicts to gain independence along the years 1928 to 1945, finally gain independence in 1945, but invaded again by Dutch 4 years battle until the war ended in 1949, if you visit Surabaya city (2nd biggest city after Jakarta) you'll find a lot monument, memorial, and museum, because there was once the bloodiest battle in Indonesian history, in November of 1945 Indonesian against the returning Dutch with help of British and Japan, yes 1 vs 3, the war turn the city into ruins, hundreds thousand of casualties from both side. And that's why Surabaya given its nickname as The Heroes City, or popularly known as Indonesian version of Stalingrad by gen Z.
I love your excitement visiting Jakarta can't wait for you both to visit Surabaya its on the eastern coast of Java next to Bali, also have fun traveling in Indonesia ♥☺

It’s also okay to ask the price of the food first before buying, if the price wasn’t displayed.

Jakarta is not only the largest city in Indonesia, but it is also the largest city in Southeast Asia as well as the second largest metropolitan in the world after tokyo. In the weekend Jakarta is peaceful enough, though in the weekdays especially in the rush hours (7-9 AM and 5-7 PM), the traffic is a nut and absolutely terrible because 4,5 million people move from the suburb (Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, Tangerang) to the city center (Jakarta City) for working. For your information, The metro area has 33 million people while Jakarta has 10 million people population and become 14,5 million people in the weekdays afternoons.

Jakarta is not nice at all. Even I hate living in Jakarta. The people are not nice at all. Most motorists use this big special muffler which they call brong muffler.
This muffler will shoot black smokes to the face of the people who happen to be behind the motor.
Welcome to this beautiful country 😎 , I hope you enjoy the delicious food too 😍
Thank you! We’re having a great time here! 😍
Hi guys love your energy..what a positive vibe radiates thru this video, if I can suggest, since you will spend a relative long time in Indonesia, you guys should add Labuan Bajo on your list, Labuan Bajo is a place where you can see Komodo dragon in Komodo National Park, it will give you a jurassic world experience😁
Thank you!! We’d love to visit there! 😍
This episode needs to be seen! Komodo dragon was interesting; On the condition that you take me to the island of Bali, brother🙂🙂
I really like you exploring the city of Jakarta. You can also go to Bandung, Surabaya, Medan in Sumatra. Enjoy the beautiful scenery in Indonesia, which has thousands of islands.
We’ll have videos from those places coming soon! 😍❤️
thanks for promoting Indonesia. have a pleasant trip to meet with fantastic foods and warm people.
Thanks so much 🥰 we’re having a great time!
Welcome in Indonesia. Integrated Jabodetabek (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, Bekasi). You can around all of them with 🚂 KRL. Have a nice trip
Thank you!! ❤️
That chilli paste is called Sambal. And most Indonesian literary couldn’t live without it. Every part of the region has its own signature sambal. If you lobe spicy food you come to the right place. I hope you enjoy your time here!
Thanks so much 🥰 we like Sambal now but sometimes it’s so spicy 😱🤣
Thank you for sharing the city of Jakarta as the capital city of Indonesia, have a nice day in my country❤
Thank you! ❤️ we’re having a great time in Indonesia!

yes, that's right, because there is a SIM card that uses the "LOCAL DATA INTERNET" system, for example you buy internet data in Jakarta, then you go to Sulawesi or a city with a different local data, then the internet data cannot be used, so you have to open the SIM application and buy in the city area, but don't be afraid because there are still many SIM cards in Indonesia whose internet data system is UNIVERSAL
Ahh we should’ve looked into a universal one first!! We had no idea that it was different in different areas until after we had the cards 🤦♀️🤣🤣❤️
@@NataliesPassport because Telkomsel is a nationally owned provider, and it's very expensive for internet data, especially since Indonesia is a vast country, Telkomsel divides prices according to the distribution of places, the further to the east of Indonesia the more expensive, calm there are still other providers such as TRI, INDOSAT, XL, SMARTFREN, it is recommended to use INDOSAT & XL, but if you want a cheap one, use TRI, but TRI has bad signal in different places
Selamat menikmati alam Indonesia
Thank you ❤️ there are so many amazing places here!
Datang sekali aja dah kapok.
Terimakasih sudah jalan jalan di negara indonesia😊

6:45 Barbed wire was due on Monday 1 In May, because of International Labor Day, students demonstrated in front of the president's office, as is generally the case in parts of the world.
Oh wow 😱 we hadn’t heard of that before! ❤️
Nice video.. Hope you enjoy in Indonesia..
The typical chili sauce is Sambal.
Indonesia has many different sambal.
BTW, you can use your phone number in every region in Indonesia.. You dont need to change the number..
From Sumatera, Java, Bali, Kalimantan (Borneo), Sulawesi, and even to Papua.. Just use that phone number..
Ohya, you can enjoy more natural views in Bandung City.
There are many mountain, waterfall, cave, aven the crater..
The big different between Jakarta and Bandung is the weather.
Jakarta is hot, but Bandung is cool (cold)
The weather in Bandung is so nice.
That's why more people in Jakarta will spend their weekend in cool city, like Bandung..
Hope you can enjoy Bandung too..
I live in Jkt, but I love Bandung so much 😅
