Yoann deserves all the exposure he can get. Guy is a freakin' beast on the trails and an amazing teacher. His channel is incredible, great vibes and a lot of knowledge.
This is by far one of the best episodes I have seen on PinkBike in years! Christina, Yoann and awesome guidance explained simply and effectively! More of this, please PinkBike!?
I got my fair share of ski coaching back in my ski racing days and from that I recon Yoann is a great coach. He is so on point, its amazing. More of him please!!!
The commitment to examine your riding faults and exercise those changes in the stream are what sets pros above most. If you tell yourself the line and the braking are here and there, and then actually hit those markers at speed, it’s really rewarding. I think for me the head up exiting the corner, or obstacle, changed my riding and I never looked back. The braking has always been before and then exit with speed, but I’m too dangerous about not caring and believe in myself to adjust to anything in a blind situation. How to adjust with pre-brake/visualization to a blind at speed safely without overthinking is what I got from Yo in this exercise. Thank you! 🤘🏼
45 year old beginner here - the 'head up' just made a huge difference at the pump track for me. I felt like I had so much time through the turns. it felt really relaxed and stable but was absolutely faster. Thank you!
Yoann, Christina, Pemby, Spring 2022 and life is good. Thx for making this video, Yoann does a really good job of explaining all the fundamentals I've heard before but makes them way easier to understand. Christina soaks up the knowledge and demonstrates the techniques with the cameras rolling, great job! Theres so many nuggets of riding wisdom from Yoann in this I'm definitely going to watch it few times. I really like the ones about the "millions of different corners"
6 seconds was a huge gain! 10% faster and more confidence which came from being specifically intentional about exercising control. You owned the trail vs the trail owning you! Great instruction!
Chistina and Yoann are two truly worthy people to be doing these videos. So often the credibility just isn't there. Not with these two. I seriously appreciate watching them both.
Very enjoyable to see someone being a great teacher. There’s definitely a knack to it and Yoann has it. I don’t get to ride anything like this, but I’m inspired to try.
Christina, the videos you’re putting out are the best in the MTB UA-cam-verse. Whether it’s riding progression, follow cams, or random rider interviews. Pinkbike, pay Christina and anyone helping her 10x.
He forgot step 1 to becoming faster: be French! J/k of course - an amazing coach and rider. Between these, Christina’s other vids, and the Ben Cathro series, PB is killing it with the tutorials lately!!
101% agree studying the zones. I did that on my 1st race experience. i did practice the same race track for 5 days. using gopro you can see the zones u want to target your lines and zones for improvement normally it was marked on yellow or red.
I would have liked to see her ride it three times. One to see it, two to adjust, and then a third after having two run's worth of knowledge. THEN...have him give her the advice, and have her do 3 more runs, so that it takes trail familiarity out of the equation, and really illustrate how the change in technique made her faster. But....still, a great video, and those tips will make her faster everywhere!
Good on ya Tina! Sure you could have made it 10. Yoann is always in the zone I guess. :D Love how hes flying through tech sections like it´s nothing. He´s good at seeing nuances and explainging things as well eh. I suppose he´s just that guy you wanna ride with for a few days when you wanna progress.
I'm broken right now, fractured right clavical, had a Open Reduction Internal Fixation surgery a week ago and I'm super worried about recovery and loss of fitness, strength and confidence. Love to see something about that.
Since getting on mountain bike scene, I notice that the industry are more focused on being light not on safety. Coming from Snow board and paintball, the sport over emphasized on safety. I'm always full gear. I learned my lesson from snow boarding to wear helmet at all times espcially being a beginner. On paintball, you have to have full gear because you slam your whole body on ground on purpose. I know these two are pro mountain bikers, but never once in this video they talked about safety! They wear their helmet, but that's about it. No body armor, knee pads, elbow pads. If you're a beginner not knowing anything, you try what these pros are doing, you'll have a rude awakening after you get your first injury. Our body isnt made to slam on anything hard going 15 mph+! you'll need the right gear to prevent or minimize injuries. If you ever watch friday fails, how many of those people you see wearing full gear on and they're trying things way above their skill level?
@@ninjazzrhythm400 thanks bro. Yeah I wear a good Helmet Bell R2 MIPS, IXS X-Matter knee and elbow, been riding since I was tiny, guess I'm atleast 25 years into propper mountain biking, some bmx, flatland, skateboarded for like 6 years, had my fair share of injurys, snowboarder a couple of seasons too. Never have I busted a collate bone before, but sadly there is not any body armour I know of (I work in the industry) that would protect a clavicle. Done my elbow, got landed on in the park and off peast on the snow, ankle on the skateboard, wrist and concussion on bmx, and pelvis a few years back on mtb. Injury was a random pedal strike at the entrance to a trail I've run litterally a hundred plus times, so go figure. Just shit luck at less than 15kph and did a full otb flip to back if sholder as 1st point of impact. Is there anything in the snow sports or paintball sector that can protect upper body and clavicle? I was already planning to get better protection for some local trails and bigger bike parks, impact shorts, knee/shin and a upper body armor, helmet is already EWS compliant, but maybe even a really full face lid. Very difficult to find gear that fits when you're a 6'4", 235lb gorilla! 🦍😂
It looks like when he does the gap he is braking on his rear tire, it stops spinning but when Christina does the gap her rear tire is spinning. Why does he do that? I noticed it a couple of times in the side by sides.
I would have thought, you Christina would have these braking and vision skills well rehearsed prior to the time of shooting this video! Your coworker also Pink Bike presenter Ben Cathro released this information an entire year earlier! Your resources to have direct contact with Ben should have given opportunity to receive coaching from him direct with considerable time before this video. I think you would have been seeking this information from him earlier. You have improved during the short sessions time demonstrated in this video. Congratulations on that. Keep practicing for further improvement. Yoann did a good job evaluating you and instructing correctionss, But after reading other comments. This video is no contest to curriculum presented by Ben in just his single cornering better video.
Tom would be good at helping you win after won at the PinkBike Academy. I mean he clearly won landing a gig at PinkBike and represented at Sea Otter this year 🤣

“Eyes up” vs “looking where you’re going” was explained so well. Big difference.
Yoann is the best teacher, we all need him during a ride lol. Great content and nice riding Christina!
Braking to go faster! This makes so much sense when explained correctly. Great video as usual Christina!
I got my fair share of ski coaching back in my ski racing days and from that I recon Yoann is a great coach. He is so on point, its amazing. More of him please!!!
Love the Yoann! PB needs more Yoann. Seriously, I've watched this video three times already. I'm learning so much.
6:03 the way Yohan rides this section is an absolute thing of beauty 😍. This is the way I want to ride my bike. Just lovely.
The gems hes dropping are priceless. One of my favorite vids, I learned a ton.
Best video I've seen on PB for a LONG time. Yoann is just so cool, such an amazing entertainer and a great pedagogue at the same time.

Wow Yoann is an awesome teacher. Love it. Keep it up Pinkbike! Also mad respect for Yoann.
This is fantastic content and Yoann very talented on bike and can coach as well that's very rare. Will be trying some of this my next time out.

It help me a lot to understand when Yoann explains things with body movement. I can't wait to go out there and try all this great lessons.

thank you so much. It is unusual to have tips for advanced riders and it is so cool. Christina is so impressive
Just polishing the hard earned skillset before the race is essencial. You have shown how its done. Congrats PB, great content!
Sweet film! Such a natural feeling once you get in the zone. Thanks for the prez and have an excellent day!
Really enjoyed the video, nice job. Yoann accent is great! 6 sec improvment is awsome!
14:00 it wasn’t explicitly stated. But I think that self-talk is also key:you’re constantly reminding yourself of the key things to focus on.
OMG where do I have to go to get this lesson for myself?! Well, even if I can't, I learned some things, lol. Great vid!
Love this kind of content! Keep it coming!
10% improvement! Great tips for carrying speed 👍🤙
This was awesome. Great to see the progress on the last run that early braking was on point
Last year at Tweed valley (EWS) first and second place was separated by 6 seconds on 24 minutes of descending. 10% is a massive improvement!
What a sick video! Learned heaps
More of these type of videos please!
It's cool how much racing Karts as a kid has transferred to bikes. Slow early, fast on the exit.
GREAT video. Thank you
Like.. two best mtb personnages in one edit.. tooo much love 🤩😍🥰
Yoann is the best, and Christina is an awesome entertainer. Loved this video and I'm ready to get up to race speed 💪
Some really good tips in this one
This guy is a damn good teacher. 10% time saving on a short section isnt to be sniffed at.

@@willbros1499 fair point sir!
Amazing video you pair ! Loved it and took loads from it.
Great video Yoann is a great rider and couch..
Thanks for this video. Really appreciate the amazing instruction from Yoann!!
Really interesting video, thanks for sharing !
YB is a legend!
Great skills Christina
Wow! I learnt quite a bit just now.
Great teacher!!!
10% improvement is substantial! On a longer race that can easily mean the difference between 10th place and a place on the podium.
Good job Christina and Yohann! Great video as always
Great video! Definitely going to try it on track at my first race ever!!
Super helpful tips!
This is amazing content. Thanks!
Nicely done Christina!!!
Awesome!

Nice Video! I love these techie things. 🤘

Nice work! 6 sec is a chunk! More Yoann!
More Yoann💪💪
0:36 dude just casually crawls up in-frame to say he found a "good line" 😆
Yo! Always brings it.
Eyes up? Or Heads up? Great video Christina and Yoann!
Yoann! This guy is awesome
love the vids
Great content!!! Anyone know what is that background music?thanks
I'm curious to know what time Yoann put on this piece of trail 😅
wait part 2 👍👍😋😀
I love to see more xc racing on the channel not just gravity mtb
Good on ya Tina! Sure you could have made it 10. Yoann is always in the zone I guess. :D Love how hes flying through tech sections like it´s nothing.
He´s good at seeing nuances and explainging things as well eh. I suppose he´s just that guy you wanna ride with for a few days when you wanna progress.
0:34 You CANT get up to race speed without racing, a golden rule in Motocross and i dont see why it doesnt apply to MTB also :P
Awesome 🤩🤘🔥
Good luck in your next race you should let us know if these sessions with other pro's help your skills and times.
Yoann and Ben Cathro should team up!
Yoann Barelli is the most fun person to listen too. I think there is always a carnival going on inside his head..

Two of my favourite people in one video 🤯
Just missing Olly Wilkins!

The start though
If you not following Yoann’s channel, you’re missing out on some gems.
Hi Chappy.
Third ball rider 💕
The intro sound like Demoler - Los Saicos
Yoann - great rider, even greater personality.
Tom would be good at helping you win after won at the PinkBike Academy. I mean he clearly won landing a gig at PinkBike and represented at Sea Otter this year 🤣
Yoann spreading wisdom
Having a third ball helps, too
0:01 😂
Can webput a chefs hat on this guy bc he is "cooking" up some tips!
The 29 'wheels are little too big for you...try 27.5, as it's more nimble and easy to move your body over.
God damn Yoann.... rev that shit up!!!!!!!😂
Yoann is great, but preferred Ben Cathros explanation of braking and release after corner crux
