I think lots of people sleep on the sway bar upgrades for this car. That was the first suspension mod I did on my 13 gt and it made a great difference as far as reducing some of the roll and making the car more planted on the ground. Its not the same effect as coil overs but if you can find a good deal on them with the endlinks then I think its worth it. Next for suspension will be shocks/struts as I dont plan on lowering my car anytime soon. Love the look but dont like the comfort level as much 🤷🏽♂️
Very nice mustang GT. I found me one in 2020 a 14 mustang GT sterling gray and a 6 speed transmission the only thing I have done so far is put a set of chrome deep dish billet wheels staggered
You need the Torsen diff if you don’t have it. The GT with open diff is likely the reason mustangs lose control on take offs. Also, watts link is better than a pan hard bar. If you track it (not autoX) get a ducktail spoiler.
Yup, I have the Torsen diff. May swap to something better in the future. Watts link is also on the future mod list, and I’ll be doing full big aero eventually.
Yes definitely, but only when I'm cornering very hard. It's not because of my 285s though. Since I run this car on the street 99% of the time, I only have -1.5° camber in the front and the car sits super low. So either raising the car or adding more camber would mitigate the rubbing on my front fender in hard corners. I've also rolled my front fenders since this video and the rubbing has been greatly mitigated.
Do the Magnaflow resonators help with a rasp? I got an off-road h pipe on my 13 5.0 to keep its deep tone, but louder. And for the most part, it worked, the only real problemis that there is some rasp now that the cats are gone (3inch h pipe from MRT on Borla s types axle backs).
It may get rid of a little bit of rasp, around 5-10%, but the key to getting rid of that rasp is going to be throwing on some cats. That will take down the most amount of rasp for sure.
This channel is awesome. Dope videos with great information. Giving me new ideas for my 2012 5.0.... Im really surprised this channel only has 375 subscribers! Im not sure what your goals are with youtubel but I really hope you keep making content and the channel keeps growing.
Do you happen to remember the specs on your mgw? I'm going to ve ordering one soon and i like how yours is set up. Did you go with standard throw or shorter?
I went with the standard throw and low profile spec. I called MGW personally and did lots of forum research from MGW owners and that seemed to be the best running with the MT-82 and not putting any stress on the transmission with hard shifts. Still love the shifter years later.
What setting do you normally have the rear sway bar on? A lot of places say that the s197s benefit from a lot stiffer front bar but only slightly stiffer rear bar
I’m onboard with that. My front is set to very stiff between the coilovers and sway bar, but I’m still figuring out the sweet spot for the rear stiffness. It tends to get tail happy and oversteer more than understeer.
Love the car, very cool stance. I'm considering coil-overs vs. lowering springs for my 2013 Boss 302 LS so would love to know what your ground clearance is at the front spoiler and/or how far you dropped the front with the adjustable coil overs.
I love the Boss 302 LS and recommend lowering it - the car will handle a lot better. I'd recommend coilovers if you want to dial in the ride height and be low, which I've found to be a very useful feature of coilovers and something lowering springs can't offer. I don't know how much I've dropped the car, but I'd say probably 2-2.5" in the front. However, my front Boss 302 splitter still sits very high off the ground and I can count the number of times I've scraped my splitter on 1 hand (I take all steep grades at an angle just in case). The major disadvantage in S197s of going so low is not the front splitter clearance but rather the front fender clearance. I've rubbed the inside of the front fenders down to bare metal. But honestly I'm not worried as it's on the inside of the fender which you never see. I've also considered rolling the fenders but read you can't roll these front fenders without flaring them, which is not something I want to do. And keep in mind, I'm pretty dang low and you wouldn't be able to lower my front end anymore without the car being slammed and unusable around corners. So at around the lowest usable height is where your front fenders will lose paint. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helped!
Apologies on the incorrect link. I changed the link to the Corsa Sports that I have. The stock resonator was removed by the previous owner of the car. Instead of going for a stock resonator, I liked the idea of straight-through Magnaflow resonators.
Thank you!! I’m not sure which HREs you have, but I’ve found they can be hit or miss. There’s some beautiful wheels they’ve made, and I see others that look kinda cheap. Depending on which ones you have, Apex wheels could be a really cool upgrade! I have nothing but good things to say about mine!
@@MassimoO Currently running the HRE FF01s. I'm eyeing the EC-7s from APEX. Similar wheel design but I like the concavity on the APEX. More aggressive for sure. I'm also running the extended lugs from ARP which makes the wheel look 👌🏽
Hey man car looks awesome! Quick question you look about as low as my s197 is now with 275/40 19 tires on it. Im wondering if I switch to 285/35 square setup how much lower it will drop since the shorter diameter. Have you measured the ground to front fender height? Im jut worried of going too low in the front esp for scraping the oil pan and lower brace.
I actually had 275/40s and swapped to 275/35s a while back on my first set of tires. The 40s were made the car look weird and quite high off the ground. Swapping to 35s lowered the car and front end down a good amount. But I’m not 285/35s now and I don’t scrape on roads or bumps in the road or anything, just go over speed bumps quite slow and you’ll be good!

Agreed! Sway bars do quite a bit for these cars. It’s a good mod for eliminating body roll.
Hands down the best video yet. Keep it up man! Love the build on the Mustang
Much appreciated! Lots of time went into the setup of this video, glad it doesn’t go unnoticed 😃
High quality edit, great great vid. Finally badass s197 content.
There’s not enough good S197 content on UA-cam! Hoping I can change that 👌 Thank you!
That’s a dam clean setup, nice work!
Thanks!
Hope your channel grows! This video is top tier
Much appreciated! Share with your friends if you’d like 😄
Nice build bro , suspension is very important ppl fail to realize that
Totally agree. Thank you!
Loved the video! They just keep getting better and better!
Also love the car too 👍👍👍

What made you want resonators? Was it droning before?
I too just picked up some Apex sm10 wheels. Good vid keep it up.
This is amazing content brother! 🔥🤝
Thank you! 🙌
Luvvvv your mustang dude
appreciate it dude!

@@MassimoO thanks for the info. I don’t plan on tracking my car so hopefully it won’t rub much.
Love the build! How did you keep the cats with the long tubes? Did you get aftermarket hi flow or are they the stock converters?
Kooks makes H-pipes with their own high flow cats! I used their H-pipe.

@@MassimoO Thanks for the reply! Good advice...the stance and the way your Mustang sits is perfect! Do you have spacers for the wheels>

@@MassimoO so what do the mags sound like there not resonators should be louder then the stock resonators
@@jimbrow83 all of those details and sound clips will be in the upcoming video :)
I’m curious with the Recaros, do you just live with the ABS light on or did you find a way to bypass that?
The ABS light is not on with the Recaros installed. ABS would be brake related.
we want more vids of this car

Question about my s197 suspension , i just have it lower with aftermarket shock and spring , my front 2 wheels are always towing out any ideas ??
Short of the obvious "tighten your tie rods", I don't have any advice here as I haven't had this issue. Sorry!
