    Writing emails is so stressful for me but this video is great. Nothing is worse than getting an email and having no clue what somebody is trying to tell you.

    Great tips, but you forgot one. ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR ATTACHMENTS ARE ATTACHED TO THE EMAIL BEFORE YOU HIT SEND. Boom!

    Thanks, never really learned how to email because everyone just assumes that you know how to email. Keep up all the videos, love learning about all aspects of media production, big or small.

    This was great RJFS! And yes although it focused on the film industry it applies to all businesses. I've always thought that I have been a fairly good writer but I tend to write novels when I send texts, emails, whatever. I will remember the 2 objectives! Thank you.

    I was not expecting to have my mind blown on a video about emails. I had no idea about the difference between C.C. and B.C.C. I just used it.

    I liked: "Yo! Jobs?" best.
    Short and to the point. As our great German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe said:
    "What's scrubbed, can't fail."

    Sandy this is exactly where I fall flat, especially when emailing people I have never met. A contact says " Hey you should talk to this guy, he is looking for a project" and gives you his email address.

    To add to this, any email I receive that simply begins with my first name, followed by a colon, will get deleted immediately if I don't know the person. Learn to use a greeting in your email such as 'Hi xxx', or 'Hello xxx', or whatever. It takes an extra second and sends a different message. Using someone's first name only when you don't know them comes off as powertalking and, at least for me, gets your email deleted and never read.

    this bestest word in an email you can type is NNTR; No Need To Reply , see emailcharter.org great for notifications and 1-way messages, or to have that last word.
    P.S. your overly long signature isn't cool it's spam that's multiplied by every response
    P.P.S n/t is the next best when you can cram the entire message into the subject line.

    OMG. They're called P A R A G R A P H S. Separate thoughts into paragraphs. It makes the email MUCH easier to read.

  • @sehyunkim4736
    @sehyunkim4736 7 років тому

    Summary:
    Think the goal of the email and it would be understandable.
    Keep in mind sending email officially and practically. Don't write friendly expression, like lol, emojis, slang.
    Modify your draft by checking spelling, content's length and so on.
    CC is Carbon Copy for who can reference an email. ex) I sent my professor an email. My team members can see it due to CC.
    BCC is 'Blind' Carbon Copy for who don't know each other or protecting privacy.
    Last but not least, you can have undo send time for preventing your mistake. How? See between 5:40 ~ 5:51 :p

    Thanks for making this video cherish. Quick question, are there certain protocols when working with child actors? For example I heard you need to make sure they have work permits as well as hire a studio teacher for the shoot. Anything else I'm missing?

    This is why things like Slack got popular, Email becomes a pretty crappy form of communication when you have to worry about being judged in it

    • @therealpanse
      @therealpanse 7 років тому +3

      crappy form of communication? people who have the attention span of a goldfish are crap at communicating. If you're not able to communicate properly via email or letters, prepare to be judged. You deserve it.

    • @KnownNever
      @KnownNever 7 років тому +2

      I want an answer, time is money, emails generate a huge amount of wasted time from this overhead.

    • @therealpanse
      @therealpanse 7 років тому +1

      well... then leanr how to egt your information in order, so everyone can look up things they need to know. how long does it take for you to scroll through endless chats to get what you need to know? that's useless overhead. Emails can be filtered by subject. everything you need to know in just one page. readable on all your devices.
      Or maybe you want to look at it from another perspective. It's how shit gets done. deal with it, learn how to do it, play with the big boys. If you don't, it's like you try get your point across by inventing new words no one understands. every single time someone has to ask you something is a failure of your communication skills.

    • @KnownNever
      @KnownNever 7 років тому +3

      I stopped reading this after the first line, please comment more, I won't read it neither

    • @karlzone2
      @karlzone2 7 років тому

      I'll completely agree with this. When you want to communicate with someone effectively, you start a conversation. You don't want to spend your time on formalities every time you wish to respond.

    02:27 = *BE CONCISE.* According to RocketJump, this involves mentioning your name at the beginning of an email and filler sentences wishing the audience well. Stating your name at the beginning is not necessary because of signatures. Gosh!

      goodnightvenus And the issue that people have different ways of doing things. What works for one person may not for another due to personality differences and experience. Or just old advise that may not apply any more.
