      There is no way to return your nails to good standing. All you can do is let them grow and not damage the new growth. It's a process cause they break and chip so easily until the healthy nail is at the free edge. It took myself 6 months to get my nails in a healthy state. I now take product off when and how I'm supposed. I also don't file and buff so aggressively like I did when I was learning. Another key thing to do is to moisturize since nail plates are 25% water. If they hand the correct amount of moisture, nails will bend and flex instead of snap and break.

    • @everythingbuthair
      @everythingbuthair 5 років тому +1

      @@BestNailTech Yes I understand there's no way to fix it, I meant purely to ask how to protect them until the new growth arrives. Aside from lots of moisturizing, I read/hear a lot of contradictory information on what product is best to protect them with from more damage in the mean time and was looking for more insight.

    Hi, I love your videos! So informative and detailed. Your husband is such a good sport letting you use his hands for demo. I must say he has very clean and nicely manicured nails thanks to you. I think more guys should get their nails manicured as part of their regular grooming. It looks so much nicer than hang nails or dirt under their nails which is so unsightly. I give my husband manicures and pedicures and he loves the extra attention. Plus his nails look clean and professional when he goes to work. Thank you!

Your style of teaching is very detailed and I am able to easily follow you because you take the time to define and elaborate on what you are doing. I am so grateful for your educational videos and taking the time to teach us these important steps in nail care.💅I just purchased my first efile from Makartt. I've been hand filing to remove topcoat to soak my gels every 3 weeks or so for a couple years now. It takes so long and thought I should finally take the plunge and buy an e-file. I'll be sure to be careful, practice, and follow your instructions. Purchased a flexifinger to practice on too.

    I can’t tell you how excited I get when I see a new video of yours pop up...like a kid on Christmas morning, lol. I grab a coffee, pop in my ear pods, and if hubby is around, he receives strict instructions to only interrupt if there’s a die emergency. Soak-offs for me used to be a big headache. My daughter can have hers off in 10 minutes, and it’d take me an hour. Whether it be prep, less-oily nail beds, whatever the cause, gels really adhere to my nails. So, I finally broke down and bought an acetone steamer. Wow! What a difference. Gels pop right off! What are your thoughts on steamers?

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  5 років тому +1

      Yes I have tried those as well and they do work well but only for some gel. I still prefer the wrap method for in the salon setting, but the steamers are good!

      We all make mistakes. Best thing to do is pay close attention while working and if you accidentally cause some damage just leave it alone. For example sometimes I have given myself a ring of fire on my right hand because my left hand isn't as good at efiling. Once I notice I've filed a bit too much I leave that spot alone and let it grow out. Hope that makes sense

    Funny thing, I'm not used to using the soak off method. When I was getting gel manicures 5-6 years ago, my nail gal would e-file the gel polish off, and leave the base. (Luckily, I had an e-file from a long time ago, and slowly and carefully, e-filed the color off, when my schedule got too busy to make gel manicure appointments. Those gel manicures literally would not chip off. They basically lasted until the nail completely grew out.)

    Love your videos. They are so informative. Do you plan doing a removal of gel as well? I strugle with that since I do not see the diference in color of gel and nail bed. A few times I overfiled my nails. Now usualy I leave a layer of gel on the nails rather then hurting nail bed. But I'd love to learn see the diference for those persons who want to remove everything off

      Hi, I have tried numerous peel off base coats and they all seem to pull on the nail a bit. I much prefer to leave a protective layer of gel on my nails (aka overlay) and I work on top of that. Constantly touching or natural nails can wear them out.

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  5 років тому +1

      Yes absolutely as long as it's not a hybrid gel base. For example CND, Gelish, or Essie base wouldn't work long term because they aren't meant to last that long. I would recommend making sure the base you use is something that can be with long term. Anything that's more like nail polish won't be good.

    I've heard that acetone is not good for the nails... Is that true? Anyone?

    • @TheNailHub
      @TheNailHub  4 роки тому

      Carolina Araújo acetone can be very drying and it also strips oils including natural oils. However it doesn’t actually damage the nail or eat it away or anything. One of the downsides of soaking off gel every time with acetone is you’re stripping the skin’s natural barrier oils which can irritate the skin and it makes nails dry. Check out my overlay tutorials to see me recommended method.
