I've had it for a year now with no problems at all. But only recently realized how to get under HomeKit as a Garage with the plugin.

I have another one on my single car garage and I didn’t have problems with that one. I just can not find one the same I could only find this one with that’s sensor. The old one I have is just an inching board with a box. This might be a server problem with them because I can see the name on my app which means it connected to my WiFi how ever it’s not connecting to the internet.
Just wondering if you know if this works on a two door roller garage? Does the app allow multiple doors if you wired up two doors. Or is it a case where it would just open both and close? Not sure if you know but thought I’d ask.
Nice video.. I have been using sonoff products for a couple years now and love them. I currently have an inching switch on my garage but this product takes it all a step further. My question is, does the ewelink app send constant alerts after the door has been opened? It would be great if I got reminders in case I accidentally left my garage door open!
is it possible to alert you if the door has been opened for more than "x" minutes ? I have a bad habit of leaving my door open by accident and i'm trying to find a way to stop that!
I install one on my garage door. What I don't like about, that it open the garage door by itself after power interruption. It close it after about 3 min. after network is connected. I am wonder if it is the way to disable relay trigger after power is restored.
@@csongorvarga i have it for a few months now and yes i confirm this problem ,it opens the garage door by itself at any time even at night.I notice that when power interruption or lost wifi connection.I had to unistall it ,not so reliable.
Nice product, but how does this integrate with devices like Echo Dots? Does the switch offer any more function in that scenario than a $8 wifi relay? Can this report back thru Alexa that the door is open? "Alexa, is the Garage door open?" "No, the Garage door is closed" ??
@@csongorvarga Thanks. Wanted to use it at an outside gate motor, but unfortunately only have 220V and 12V at the motor. Was hoping it supported 5V/12V like sonoff SV. Would like to see a comparison between the hardware of the 2. Haven't seen any pics op the DG-DC5 opened up.
@@RudolphTerblanche Well, big difference is that DG-DC5 actually reports back the if the gate/garage is open/closed. SV would not be able to do that. I think it is a big advantage if you can't visually verify if the gate is moving. You can also use an LM7805 to reduce 12V to 5V. It is just a small 3 legged linear regulator.
eWeLink does not have a concept of a door, it treats all devices as lamps. Do it would be something like "Alexa turn on the garage". Or turn off the garage to close the garage door.
You set up the unit on one phone, than you can share the unit to another account. Of you can just open the app with the same account on multiple phones as well.
@@csongorvarga thank you for your prompt reply. Would you please answer another question? This unit does not work on 5g? On other videos, it says to use the 2.4ghz. I don't understand what that means. Where would I find the 2.4 ghz? Will it affect my phone if I take it off of 5g? Or am I not understanding anything here? I have at&t internet at home but I'm not sure what it's running. Sorry, computer illiterate!
@@bigrigcook7322 That is different. Wifi (router) works on two different frequencies. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. It is unlikely but possible that your internet wifi router is set to only use the 5 GHz band. In that case your laptop and mobile phone will be able to use the internet (as those devices usually support both 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz), but for these smart devices it would appear that there is no wifi network. It has nothing to do with the 4G, 4G mobile network on the phone.
I have a GD-DC5 Garage door opener device that was working fine for me until a few days ago. When I open the door, the Ewelink APP starts sending open and closed door notifications, even though the door is actually open. Someone to give me an idea of how to solve the problem and what may be causing it.
Disconnect the sensor and see if the notifications go away. If so, most probably there is some defect in the sensor. If the messages remain, the issue is probably in the unit. Not that I can tell anything else from a distance.
I rather think it needs two sensors. Then you get Closed, in motion, Open and Fault! Is it hackable like other Itead products? If it is then adding an additinal input would improve things IMHO? It is advertised here in France at 99 euro, that is very expensive for something that could be hacked out of a standard Sonoff?
I have not taken it apart, but I assume it is also ESP8266 based. It makes sense to have two sensors as you mentioned, but most probably the eWelink app is not designed to handle multiple states. I was thinking about the same, but I don't think it can be hacked from a simple Sonoff. My garage door stops if you send a continuous signal. Unless you click on the device in the eWelink app twice fast it works. But otherwise the continuous signal messes up the garage motor. If you use a different firmware, that it is easy to configure it to only give out a short pulse.
The on/off state in the app will be based on the sensor. You can use it without the sensor, in that case you will not see in the app if the door is open or closed.
mine wont connect. I have a bunch of sonoff switches and they connect fast, this one does not connect to my net work. I can see the device on my app but everything is gray and it does not work.
I am sorry, I have no idea. The unit appears to be working if you managed to pair it. So it could connect to your wireless network during pairing. All I can think of is that the wifi signal is too weak in your garage for this device to connect to. I assume you did the pairing somewhere inside the house and not in the garage.
tried it, nothing. I disabled my 5GHz radio configuration on my wifi to let the 2.4ghz govern my wifi but even then I can't make it work. I would love to be able to use this switch.
according with the ewelink tech I needed to disable my 5ghz radio transmission on my wifi to let the 2.4ghz take over. I did but even then it wouldn't work.
Great review can I use a sonoff product to provide feedback on the state of the door or do I need to buy this?
There is no other product I know of which can do that. So I recommend this one.
So there is no way to display the state of the garage door within the ‘opener’ device just using sonoffs and a reed switch?
