Honestly, I don't get the criticisms. I believe the tips shared in this video are very good ones, people saying that bold colours can look expensive may be right, but she is clearly suggesting a safer colour palette which can be used across seasons and match various trends. As for the designer handbags and accessories, she is suggesting to save up for a few pricey accessories which can elevate any outfit and give a more expensive appearance and can be used frequently and interchangeably. In the end, its going to be very difficult to look designer and expensive if your whole outfit was £20 from Primark, she is being realistic.
How to look like luxury without buying Valentino: basics can be natural materials with either beautiful drape or good structure (modal, tencel, silk, cotton, bamboo, linen, etc) that are tailored thoughtfully and in a neutral that suits your undertone. Think back-seam t-shirts - good structure, drape, and tailoring. Buy a pre-loved designer purse for cheap off poshmark or tradesy. Same for shoes. Accessorize at will with whatever. Keep it tidy and don't forget to iron. Most importantly, add your personality and creativity!
Am I the only one who doesn't understand how this is getting the expensive look for less? The jewellery is expensive, sunglasses expensive and Valentino, you guessed it, expensive, plus the Pearl shoes etc.
Guilty! I guess I was trying to share advice for those of us who don't want to spend a bomb on every single designer trend, as I highlighted WHY I chose to invest in those specific pieces and how they elevate all of my high street looks :) x
I think it's all about mixing high end and affordable pieces, that's the main point I think. Some things are worth a little extra money if you can afford them as they are investment pieces like she said rather than splurging hundreds on the Gucci fur loafers, as they may not be quite as fashionable next year. The jewellery isn't too badly priced as there are some cheaper options on Monica Vindader website .
If you buy a handfull of classic fine jewlery pieces they might cost less than buying costume jewlery every year. Just saying. And buying a pair of designer pieces *will* help elevate your style. Sunglasses and jewlery are pieces that could last you 30+ years. They are the best pieces to invest in. I still have my mothers designer sunglasses from the 80s.
Still very possible nonetheless this isn't to be a literally guide just tips on how to shop so visit forever 21 and hm and looks for your neutral colors. Pick up their cheap simple jewelry and aldo sells sunglasses make very trendy designer looking shades for like $50. Even raid tj max, marshalls, Ross for hand bags. All nice quality bags are NOT Valentino or LV. if it's 100% leather you're doing good on quality . I mean I wore a pair of pointy flats from Anne Klein today for work that have this simple bow across, so cute and adds life to my outfit. Simple $60. That's the thing with these UA-cam videos you watch for inspiration not literal. I hope this helped
I think you guys are missing the point. If you invest in one luxury piece that is versatile in the long run it will save you money. When you buy lower quality the duration of the fabric last less and thus you have to buy more. Rather than to spend on multiple items spend on one that will last a long time. Thanks for the great tips!
I beg to differ. Not always will an expensive item, last longer. I have ruined so many expensive cashmere sweaters, and blazers by getting a spot on them, or moth holes in a gorgeous expensive jacket, or my cat snagging an item, or simply spilling my coffee on a beautiful white blouse....UGH! And when you have kids, forget wearing anything nice..........Josie will learn this one day! lol
Good quality doesn't have to mean luxury pieces. You can get a $20-$50 piece that is decent quality and will last longer than Primark or Forever 21 WITHOUT springing for a $100-$500 luxury piece. Besides, some name brand luxury items are not really that awesome quality of craftsmanship or materials.
ingrid those things will ruin cheaper items too. If a car can ruin a cashmere sweater, it will ruin a cheaper sweater. Those problems have to do with how you took care of your more expensive items which apparently wasn't with more care.
🔥🔥🌹🔥🔥🔥 1) always pointy toes !!! 2) neutral wardrobe colour 3) Valentino always !!! 4) neutral make up and neutral nails 5) Ironed !!! crispy ironed or steamed "Booble off " to cut the fuzz from wool And Lint roller 6) Tailored and fitted clothes 💡 7) dupe designer mule shoes and H white sandals (already have)
.....people like this just make me think what happen to their brain cells. you overlooked all the other tips she talked about. classic styles which you could buy from any brand, neutral colour, caring for you clothes etc.
Thats how you get the luxury look for less. A luxury outfit could cost you 6000 pounds, easily. Her method allows you to buy *several outfits* for a lot less. You will never look luxe by wearing Primark.
What a blast from the past! Just got recommended this after watching a new fashion video from Josie, so interesting to see the little changes she made and how they add up to a whole new aesthetic!
Josie, forgive me if I respond to your critics first. I may never be able to afford the brands shown on the video, but I enjoy the challenge of finding new “looks”. I would love 💕 to have that beautiful white Reiss Coat and the long white Reiss skirt. I am determined to find something similar for next winter. I now automatically search for tops in pink or creme (rather than tiresome black I’ve worn for ages). I love the hints about smaller jewelry (very affordable) and rhinestone hair combs on special occasions. The items you choose to wear do not have to be the exact same thing as someone else. They only have to make you feel special. After all, that’s what matters. Thank you Josie for your excellent videos. 💕
You have great fashion ideas but i disagree with you when you mentioned that wearing white and blush pink can make you look more chic and more polished. Victoria Beckham wears beautiful colours, some vibrant, with patterns or no patterns and some neutral but she still looks very elegant, classy and put together. I don't feel this video caters for those that like to explore with their dressing style. White and blush pink are lovely colours but can become boring and plain and doesn't always make you look expensive.
Zaara Dr I mainly agree with her as I look really good in whites and blush pinks! And this is her opinion, you might look best in nudes or blacks, heck you might look amazing in greens! It's all up to your own style and she just thinks she looks best in whites and blushes
I'm no expert but in my experience vibrant colours and patterns can absolutely work if the rest of the outfit is simple/neutrals. Like a vivid patterned shirt with neutral purse, pants, shoes.
Zaara Dr well Victoria Beckham firstly is The Lady herself and she doesn't need to look expensive she is expensive 😂 hope you get what i mean... her colourful stuffs are from High end stores itself. so even if she wears a bath robe, she'll still look classy. 😂 SHE'S VICTORIA BECKHAM AFTERALL.
I fell in love with the tips about having a solid designer bag will up the outfit, and that designer dupe shoes will do the trick, and I was so happying hearing blush is a neutral! I loved the video! I watched it three times lol
Thank you! I think that it makes much more sense making an effort to dress well getting most of it, than making an effort and look frumpy or untidy, etc. So videos like yours are most welcome! And if I may say, you have an exquisite taste with regard to clothes!
I've seen many other videos on the same topic, but none compares to yours, yours is the best! I come back here to take a look at it once in a while and always love it. This was the first of your videos I saw and have been following you since then. Keep up with the great job.
Fortunatly my husband is from morocco. There you can buy lots of "designers" stuff on the market🤣 and i think in many more coutries like bulgaria turkey etc
@@aminast4026 you shouldnt though, the money gets used for nasty things and the workers (often children) are treated terrible. Please don't buy knock offs!!
Love these how to boost your fashion, As a more mature woman, I've been doing this for years and it works! Please do more of these type videos. Thank you.
Really cool tips. Nudes and safer colors do work in all circumstances and investing in some pieces basic is important. Yes, it "feels" a little boring BUT fundamentals are generally just what they are, a foundation you build upon. I absolutely adored the tip to get a bobble off (never heard of it before) and I loved your way to invest in current expensive trends. I see how these tips would work wonderfully for any business setting or any type of environment where you want to look put together, elegant, not attracting too much attention or just nicely blending in. I see nothing wrong with that.
Yes, indeed. You're right! It's a woman's character that makes her luxury. Not what designer duds a woman wears. For you can strip away all the designer clothes some women dress in, (many celebrities too, and vloggers), and they look like a basic tramp.
We have so many styles in common. I have seen some great ideas in items that would work in my wardrobe. Thank you lovely. It was a pleasure to listen to you. I love fashion! And pink! 🥰😊🥂
One thing that sets this vlogger apart, she is real, not copying anyone I love this about her. Her style is her style, white cream, etc. she is knowing herself, and not copying anybody. How refreshing~ Like a glass of lemonade with a little bourban when everyone is serving punch! Thank you so much Josie! You are a breath of fresh air!
Hi Fashion Mumbir. I love your videos, you one of my favourite channels, you are so classy and real. I am 47 years old and you have inspired me to start my own UA-cam channel doing the things I love. I love the way you dress and carry yourself though your daily life, you are such a breath of fresh air. Keep making your inspirational videos, don't ever change. You are so Elegant with a capital " E ". 😘💕
I love the look of pointed toe shoes but I have big feet, UK 8, and they just pinch my toes sooo much and it's really hard to find a size up because a lot of brands drop off around my size. My favorite is designer sunglasses which I've started investing in and just bought a pair of Céline sunnies! An easier/cheaper way of de-pilling is to use a razor. Doesn't work quite as well but it's a pretty quick and easy way to do it in a pinch. Fortunately I know how to sew so I tailor my clothes all the time. Dying over the Chanel shoe dupe!! Love this video/tips!
I looked a bit on a few comments here, and I had to write something. First of all, I would like to say that I disagree with people who say that this video was misleading or not useful. I loved this video. It completely changed my wardrobe. I was struggling for years with nothing to wear, always buying from street fashion brands. After watching this, I picked up on all the tips she mentioned, and assembled a new wardrobe which combined 2-3 investment pieces from REISS and some high street fashion of better quality, and I also avoided patterns and chose colors wisely (so only picked 2-3 colors that can be combined). Now I look like a different person, and i invested 1.250 EUR on my whole wardrobe including shoes, bags, tops, skirts. From that I managed to combine 35 outfits already, but still wiating to combine more... My closet got much smaller, so its easier to find clothes, and I always have what to wear, each day is like a discovery of varoius combinations... So far thanks to Josies advice i always look chic. Actually, this was so helpful, I would like to make a youtube video about my experience how I went from zero wardrobe, although i never made a youtube video before. Anayways, big thank you to Josie, she inspired me with this and other videos to change my looks. I always thought it would cost me a fortune to look like i wanted to look, but its not true.
Wonderful video...learned loads. I have started adopting a few of your suggestions and you know what--your right! I feel like I look so much nicer now. Thank you!
Loved the all simplicity yet stylish and elegant of your wardrobe. I wasn't sure about those sandals with everyone wearing it but I think this ones I might get one.
Your look and thinking is so similar to mine! I very much agree that buying an outfit or accessory is a longterm investment. You don't have to go for the $300 shoes but spending some time to find the right $100-150 shoes will pay off in the long run because you wear them year after year after year. You have a lovely presentation and style and watching you speak and show beautiful items makes me feel posh without being snobby. Slick, simple, refreshing look and comfortable feel/ material is what I love in clothes, not the trend or hype around it. Will subscribe to your channel :)
Excellent video, love the color palette, mine for spring/summer is Navy, gray, white and blush, having several beach vacations throughout the seasons it was a perfect choice, makes packing super easy and mixing and matching while traveling easy and stress free, everything goes with everything else! Love your tips, so on point!
Love this! I really like the format and the way this was filmed. All the tips are great, I think, extending on your neutral colors tips, brighter and/or darker colors can work as long as they're solids, not prints. It's a lot harder to copy a designer print but basic styles can easily be adapted for the high street. And I love that you mentioned basic alterations. I used to be a costume designer, so I know how much alterations can change an outfit but it baffles me that so many people can't even adjust a hem or strap or sew on new buttons. You could buy a cheap button down blouse at Primark and sew on some rose gold buttons and instantly change the look of the item.
Thanks for the beautiful video josie! I understood what you were trying to say, and i also wanted to mention that zara and h&m sell some really beautiful quality pieces. You also just helped me on my latest decision for sunglasses😂. By the way is Freddy filming you because i think i heard her laugh in the background😂❤. Have a nice day!
Great video Josie, I have definitely embraced your more neutral pallete lately and it is much easier when everything works together. I have the Valentino Rockstud shoes in patent and they are worth every penny, I will be wearing them with a blush jumpsuit from TKMaxx and a white jacket from River Island to a wedding this coming weekend and it will look amazing.
Thank you for this video! I see nothing wrong with it, yes these are all designer items but you can get something that looks similar for a cheaper price. Also, not all high street clothes are bad quality. You have to be selective & choose wisely. Personally, I try to have a neutral palette as well, it makes you look so classy & elegant. You can never go wrong with neutral pieces that are timeless & can be styled in various ways. 🤍
Great video Josie! Very happy with content and you are correct about Rayban styles they have kept the Wayfarer and Aviator styles for many years, each year you may be able to get them in a different material colors or the lenses may come in different tints or mirrored looks but they look great on most face shapes and are comfy as well!
Another lovely video! I'm getting to love more neutral colors now as they make me look much younger! Not keen on black that much any more . Thank you so much for the inspiration!
I have similar to those shoes in each white & black & yes, they are very comfy. Not counting my 2 pairs that are open-toe, all my heals are the pointed toe.
Ha, almost all colors and patterns can be styled and worn to look good, elegant and expensive. The key is matching one's personal color palette. Except probably neons and animal print which are cheap already by definition. It just requires a bit more skill than styling all the same colored pieces all year 'round for any possible occasion :D
My color choices also has made it easier to shop!!! Minimalist is the best way to be! I never been one to buy a ton of items even when it comes to makeup! Less is more 😊💅🏾.
Oh and finding great stores like Buffalo Exchange are hidden gems!! I found 2 pairs of Hunter rain boots for $45 and the retail price is $150!! People wear designer once or twice and trade it in to those type of stores all the time! I also found a pair of Tory Burch wedges for $50 and retail price was $275!!! All three items had absolutely no wear and tear!! 😊
I've been watching you a while now Josie and I know how much effort this all is, love this standing up style, you are a very talented lady, never stop ok? 🐼 ps you find the most gorgeous garments girl!
I enjoyed this video. I like your style very much. Absolutely lovely. I would love to wear that color pallet. I am overweight and it is way too obvious if I wear those light colors. I did buy a WHBM white coat that is really really stunning. I really like those white shoes with the pearls! I’m not sure I would really get the value out of them. As I don’t know what I would actually wear with them with! I would need some good suggestions to figure that out. I like the look of the Valentino heals too. I guess I would feel a little self conscious to wear those! That is amazing that you are rocking the so much that the got a little worn out. I’m not sure I can pull that of or afford it. I am also more of a round toe person. I am trying a few that do have a pointy toe. Hoping they are comfortable I can’t handle uncomfortable shoes. Enjoy it while you are young and skinny!! I love your top! I love the pink! I’m also a huge fan!! Please make some suggestions as to how to work that pink into an outfit. I have a pink crossbody that I want to wear but I haven’t taken the time to put that together. Any suggestions on tan or navy suede boots?
Nice video but although the Valentino rockstud shoes are beautiful they retail for over £600, most of your watchers will not have that type of money, even for an investment piece, plus most of their friends wouldn't know a dupe from the real thing in reality so unless they keep the price tag on most people won't recognise their value...we aren't all Sloan rangers with friends who know what's what in designer brands tbh x
I think that us women should think about the women and children that make our cheap clothing. Buying is voting and I cant anymore tell myself that I am so worth it that I will encourage companies to make people work for nothing. We have to have a conscience about what we are wearing. We are just lucky that we where born in one country and not the other.
Still 2 mins left in your video and I have already ordered that sweater defuzzer gadget! Best tip I have seen in a while! I was just looking at some of the sweaters I had with little fuzzies. So glad you mentioned it was on amazon.

When she started talking about the designer bag and shoes I was thinking "that isn't budget friendly"
She speak a lot about cheap shops....You are out...
LOLLL 'how to look expensive' ... buy from fendi, Valentino and Monica Vinader ... soooo buy all designer stuff then?! 😂😂😂
She gave a lot of tips that don't involve buying designer products.

not everything she mentioned was designer,
Yes you can purchase these on ebay auction at a fraction of the original price. I got a few pieces on ebay...chanel and Hermes
Eliz, there were some expensive things that she showed, but there were a ton of tips that people would can't afford luxury could get from this video.

Seeing as she is a fair blonde, white and pink probably works well for her. I suit other colors better because my coloring is different.
Yeah you can't always stick to two colours in your wardrobe, you need a variety depending on what your mood is.

Loved the video Josie, very useful! xx
Standing works. For sure. 👌🏼
Great tips.
Also... that rail. 😍
Robin James thanks babes!!
Loved the all simplicity yet stylish and elegant of your wardrobe. I wasn't sure about those sandals with everyone wearing it but I think this ones I might get one.
Absolutely love the video. You are a very pretty and classy lady as well. Thanks for the upload and the tips!
Thank you! People get very snobby about the dupes! (Fakes right?😊)
Your look and thinking is so similar to mine!
Funny, I Just watched another video published a few days earlier with the exact same tips in the same order!!! I'll have to try some of these
Excellent video, love the color palette, mine for spring/summer is Navy, gray, white and blush, having several beach vacations throughout the seasons it was a perfect choice, makes packing super easy and mixing and matching while traveling easy and stress free, everything goes with everything else! Love your tips, so on point!
That sounds beautiful! Thanks Katy! xxx
Totally agree!!! Glad you like it Andrea! xxx

rose colored buttons to changeva blouse what an awesome idea! thank you for saying this I will try!
Ted Baker store is super expensive here in Canada.
Very classy! Thank you for leaving details of where your audience can purchase the items! I will purchase all of the lower priced shoes! Fabulous!
Loved all the tips, and I always love your videos.
Your style is just fantastique, so "chic" as we say here ! Kind greetings from France !!!!!!!!
Really love all the ideas, great video Josie!
Yes you are my fashion soul mate!!! I invest in my clothes but I still shop at normal stores. My style is definitely classic wear!!! Less is more 😊
Great video Josie! Very happy with content and you are correct about Rayban styles they have kept the Wayfarer and Aviator styles for many years, each year you may be able to get them in a different material colors or the lenses may come in different tints or mirrored looks but they look great on most face shapes and are comfy as well!
Absolutely! Such classics! xxx
Loved all the tips.. thanks hun🌹
You are so right I like all of the pieces you have . I have almost the same timeless pieces only buy classic styles !!!

Love these kinds of videos! And all the pieces were 👌
Another lovely video! I'm getting to love more neutral colors now as they make me look much younger! Not keen on black that much any more . Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Pucci was the king of bold print so tad confused by the reference to simple white dress there... 🤔 On the whole some great tips though...
CBEEBLE r u pucci? only designers can pull it off!
LOVE, love this, such a fab idea! Those pearled shoes are stunning! x
Glad you liked it! Aren't they beautiful! xxx
Are you also British? Because your name sounds really British lol
I have similar to those shoes in each white & black & yes, they are very comfy. Not counting my 2 pairs that are open-toe, all my heals are the pointed toe.
www.isshebad.com shop helps me look luxury
I love your style 🥰
And I love to watching your video
Loved the tongue in cheek, slightly 1950s vibe of parts of this ....brilliant....thanks Josie x
Tiff Aching thanks Tiff glad you liked it!!
Your voice is so soothing! I could listen to you talk forever. I say in the least creepy was possible.
I feel uncomfortable wearing 'entry level designer'. Just the term makes me squeamish. I am also not brand conscious.
Absolutely looooove this video!! I'm going to be putting all of these tips to use xxxx
How to look expensive - buy expensive stuff. Um, thanks???
that's brilliant ! what would you recommend for men as well ??
Thank you for this video.
Is blush pink good on chocolate skin?
Loved the video, very detailed my first one I've watched of you and agree with the tips. :)
Thank you for this video!! You have such beautiful pieces!

Yay glad you found it helpful! xxx
I've been watching you a while now Josie and I know how much effort this all is, love this standing up style, you are a very talented lady, never stop ok? 🐼 ps you find the most gorgeous garments girl!
Thank you!! xxxx
Omg wear did you you get the rose hols rack and the mirror! I'm in love. 😍😍😍
Great items and tips 😍🙌🏽
love these kinds of videos
Thank you soooo much for this video. I needed this. Keep them coming.would love to see a work wear video. 😃👍
Love this vid! Gave me lots of ideas - thank you!
I think that us women should think about the women and children that make our cheap clothing. Buying is voting and I cant anymore tell myself that I am so worth it that I will encourage companies to make people work for nothing. We have to have a conscience about what we are wearing. We are just lucky that we where born in one country and not the other.
Great tips 👍🏽
Still 2 mins left in your video and I have already ordered that sweater defuzzer gadget! Best tip I have seen in a while! I was just looking at some of the sweaters I had with little fuzzies. So glad you mentioned it was on amazon.
Love your wHite and pink color palattes. It is good for your coloring. What would you suggest for those of us who are brunettes? Maybe ivory and ???
