The allen key to lower the Gocycle seat post isn't really necessary. There's a thumb screw mechanism which is intended to lower the seat post for "folding" purposes--the allen key is for permanent adjustments on the saddle height.

Brilliant - thanks so much. Perfect for our next in-depth review on this wondrous machine.

I enjoyed this test, however the Brompton ebike would be an ideal comparison addition to your next test.
    Looking forward to it.
    Do you dare!?!

I own a Gocycle GX and i love it for my 35 mile return commute which includes a bus journey. Please watch the Gocycle setup video as to use the seat post set up correctly. I have taken off the stock Vredestein tyres which i think are dangerous in the wet and replaced them with Schwalbe Big Ben Tyres which i trust and have on my other bike.

" I have taken off the stock Vredestein tyres which i think are dangerous in the wet"
I'm very curious about your assessment.
I also own a GX (Aug. 2020) and have found the stock set up head and shoulders better than anything else I have in the wet (another folder, roadbike, mountain bike with various tire setups).
My "wet" also includes below freezing temps.
I first ran the bike at max air pressure and have since reduced the pressure and find the tires very good.

@@sissyfus6181 Hi i have been cycling 40 years this year. I am no means maga fit or clame to be a expert but it is how i feel about them. The tyre pressure would have been between 45/50 psi. The bike slid out taking a left hand turn. Second was on a roundabout. third and worst was on a flagstone road where i just about hit a car. All were while cornering. I had lost faith in the bike until I changed the tyres to BIG BENS. I trust them as of previous experiences with them. I can take the same corners faster and safer than with the original tyres. It was the summer so no ice and there was on oil or anything spilt to make the tyres slide. On a straight line they were fine. BIG BENS will pull up in a much shorter distance on a emergency stop. I have complete faith in my bike now. Cornering is now safe and in the six months since fitting i have not had any issues. I run the same tyres on my Giant Quick E for the last three and a half years.

Thanks and we miss the GX. It was great fun to ride. We run tyres softer - 30 psi max and use an anti puncture sealant for our own commuting bikes. The tyres felt fine here, even a well known face playing descent and turn.

I love the Hummingbird and especially in yellow. I have always loved the style of the Gocycle too. However the price is so high on both brands. That’s why I purchased an ex display MiRider for £800. It does the job well too. If money was no object though, I would go for the Hummingbird for its lightness and that great colour.

Hi Christian and many thanks for the thoughts. An update - the Hummingbird, after much use, has a crack in the frame. Hummingbird are on the case and helping James. If you are able to - cycle to work schemes are the way forward for getting these bikes. The relatively light frames and electric motor make them so much fun to use.

They're both supercool bikes. The Gocycle is heavier but with bigger and wider tires, it's a nicer ride than the Hummingbird.

This is a lightest and best ebike I'v seen ever, the only problem is that it's price is not affordable to office workers.

If in the UK, the Cycle to Work scheme is the only way to make it affordable.

Good review but it seems you didn’t fold the GoCycle completely before trying to put it in the boot of your Leaf. The whole seat post structure can be removed and slotted within the frame, secured by that rubber band and with an ingenious clip to secure it to the folded frame. I have a Leaf too (identical to yours) and if you do that it should be possible to store it easily in the boot.

Thanks. Yes, you are right. A very happy New Year, by the way. Whichever way you cut the manner in which the seat post is stored, it’s a weakness of what as a whole is a superb cycle. Really top-notch.

On the G4i what about flat tires I.e. How good are the tires? How prone to get a flat? What

    • @Titaniumgeek
      @Titaniumgeek  2 роки тому

Hi Keith. So sorry about the delay. Tyres - the tyres are spot on. My only addition is to buy a product like the MucOff tyres sealant and to put it into the inner tubes - thus providing an insurance policy against flats.

Hello, I'm interested in getting a Hummingbird e-bike. I live in NYC. Because this bike comes from the UK, there are regulations that limit speed. Is it true that in the UK, the law for a 250 watt motor maximizes at 15.5 mph pedal assisted? If you pedal faster than 15.5 mph, the motor cuts out? This is awful. The motor should stay on and if you pedal faster then you go faster. If the motor cuts out at 15.5 mph that's terrible. There's no way to make the bike go 30 mph. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm thinking of adding a BBS02 to the hummingbird.
    Imagine a mid drive.
I'm just concerned with the rotating nature of the bottom bracket .
