Mega Man 7 - Part 5: Come on, Feel the Noise Crush
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 жов 2024
- A video review / walkthrough / showoff video of Mega Man 7 (SNES), with retrospective audio commentary.
Part 5 of 9: Shade Man (continued), Spring Man, and more shopping.
Highlights include one of my favorite video titles yet, a fascinating cutscene glitch, a clever but lame joke that I swear nobody's gotten yet, an interview with the vampire, SO MUCH BOUNCING, goofing around with Spring Man, and probably nothing after the 11 minute mark (but you should keep watching, just in case).

“Why are you in my chair again?”
“Practicing for MegaMan 8?”
“NO! WE DON’T NEED ANY PRACTICE, THEY DIDN’T PRACTICE FOR MEGAMAN8!”
*I died laughing at that*
"They didn't practice for Megaman eight"
Gemini laser has turned into Savage man
If you say so? I live under a moon rock and know not of that to which you refer.
+GeminiLaser As in that was a sweet burn you had there, absolutely savage.
Aaand this has been another episode of Disasterpiece Theatre!
We must get the eight playthrough immediately-whoop
I heard him make the fall guy joke and forgot this was recorded like 6 years ago
You're the only let's player I've seen get VOICE ACTORS for their LP's.
I figure, my friends and I do this anyhow when we're playing a game together, so why not? :)
You mean besides all those horrible one-man voice crews you get on UA-cam?
Do you like earthbound, if yes, then go type angelarts.
Burrito Burner.
Genius.
:)
Now that the Mega Man 8 videos are on the horizon, I'm binging these (again). Now, here in 2021, I have to ask: IS fighting Spring Man actually better than Fall Guys?
6:04 Missed opportunity, totally should've been an L-Tank from Mega Man 5.
That cutscene glitch is quite interesting, but I think the most notable part of it is that Treble hurt you at the end, implying that he has damage detection even during a cutscene.
Which is funny, because I can’t remember if there is any point in a normal playthrough where treble can hurt you either.
Well, Spring Man's in a toy factory, right? Then those schematics in the background must be for action figures!
Aw yeah! Now I wish I hadn't blown up all the robots who work there.
+GeminiLaser I think those schematics are for astro man.
I can't believe this wasn't said earlier!
*ahem*
ROCKETO PUUUUUNNCH!!!
Thank you. An important contribution.
God, I love your commentary, and very Informative too :D
Thank you! I aim to please. And also to shoot down large robots.
Suppressed memory indeed... good luck with He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named...
Seriously...
***** To this day, he still is the only boss I can't beat w/the Mega Buster.
Threxx1 It's funny for me when I hear everyone's reaction to Slash Man. I've defeated him with the Mega Buster, on the first run. And I was playing it on the phone too (if you've ever tried to play Mega Man on the touch controller, you know how shit it is). Guess I was really lucky. :o
You mean... Voldemort? ( harry potter) (DON' SAY THA NAME!)
Yay! The return of Disasterpiece Theatre! :D
Happy to oblige. :)
Gemini your the best I started playing megaman after I watched your videos
Thanks, and I hope you're enjoying it!
"Yes, but remember to charge the Coils to make them [JUMP! JUMP!] higher. Oh. Oh dear did that come out of MY mouth? Must be some residual Mega Man 8 in here."
XD
Heh.
And I busted out laughing completely right around 3:55, enough that I had to pause the video in order not to miss anything!
I'm glad. :)
Good Vid as always Gemini. I've always had trouble with Shademan but I loved how you don't even take a scratch.
Thanks. Considering I get at least a little scuffed up by practically every other boss in this playthrough, it's nice to have ONE perfect kill on my resume. He's definitely harder than some of the others, though.
Is it weird that the music reference of the title made me think:
"We get WIIIILD WIIIILD WIIIILD... coil"? XD
And wow, Rush in that cutscene... well, that was fun. ^^
That'll do! And yeah, I was completely surprised by that glitch.
I still can't believe you only have 6000+ subscribers. I know that you must not be a fan of numbers, but come on! Videos of this quality and silliness deserve more subscribers. It would be interesting to do kind of a Q&A video (If you haven't done one already) That we can ask all kinds of questions on. I'm sure all of your fans (including me) would love to get to know you better.
Why, thank you! I think the infrequency of my videos is likely the biggest factor keeping my subscriber number from growing more quickly, but I'm happy to have anybody watching these in the first place.
My "Message from Dr. Light" video has a little bit of a Q&A toward the end, but the best place to look if you'd like to get to know me better is my website, which I shall now shamelessly plug:
nathanielhoover.weebly.com/
I've been toying with the idea of a viewer Q&A session, and I'm totally open to questions both in the comments sections and by private message. In the rare instances when I'm livestreaming something, being asked questions is especially welcome!
I love all these references. These videos make my day!
I'm glad!
Looks like Shade Man saw the light. Poor Spring Man, GeminiLaser obviously overstretched him at the end.
Hur hur hur.
Will you showcase in the bonus video that by immediately firing a Noise Crush whilst entering Spring Man or Burrito Man's room, you can kill them before they even get a chance to charge up their health?
That's the plan!
So, fun facts time: Spring Man's stage was originally an abandoned toy factory taken over by Wily, with a bunch of broken-down or otherwise messed up toys and other decorations in the background and walls as well as a bunch of cameo street fighter and breath of fire figures (lost in the redesign) awaiting their burning, all complimented by a huge, imposing Dr. Wily statue to be put in...somewhere...as you fight Spring Man himself in front of a massive furnace.full of burning toys, which appear to be melted down to be converted into metalls. This was likely redesigned completely because, like the inexplicable toy-carrying spaceship it became, Spring Man's stage didn't really have much to do with Spring Man himself or springs in general, but I honestly sort of prefer the old version of the stage, 'cause even though it still doesn't really fit with the whole "Springs" theme, it had a lot more of a cohesive feel and actually felt like, well, a place, rather than whatever crazy his stage is. I would take this time to link to it but the comments section still is very leery about links and calling them spam and it's the first thing you get when you search "Spring Man prototype" anyway.
Not all was lost, though. Junk Man's stage took all the aspects of it, going from just a regular furnace for burning Famicoms in beta to a broken-down looking stage befitting a "junk" man, using a lot of assets and ideas left over from the abandoned toy factory stage.
That makes so much sense, and makes the stage feel all the more disappointing. That would've been perfect! Kids' toys have springs (Slinky, anyone?), so there's totally a connection there.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the instant kill for springman, or are you saving that for the bonus video?
That's a glitch, so I'm saving it for the bonus video. :)
*****
I hope you add the other Noise Crush thingies, like Burst Man's shield when you do it and the other instant kills.
We'll see. I'm sure there's a LOT I'm going to miss.
Come on feel the noise crush!
Girls rock your boys crush!
This video sure was grape, but I'm disappointed you couldn't spring for better voice actors.
HAH! You have no idea how much I appreciate your comment. :D
Enough to start a quiet riot? ;)
Indeed! That kind of thing is good for your metal health, I hear.
Yes, if there's one thing vampires are known for, it's their screaming that makes everyone die.
Yeah, it's probably the whole myth that vampires turn into bats and that Shade Man looks like a bat, but it's weird that the one legit spookybot would just be known for screaming louder than that Roblox guy.
Was the 'practicing for megaman 8' line a jab at megaman's feminine voice in the game? If so, well played!
I love the Doctor Who Reference but that was a pretty good episode of megaman 7
Thanks!
Ah, I thought at first you were trying to fool us for a minute there with that music change in Shade Man's stage...
The effect would've worked better if I could've done all of Shade Man's stage in the same video, but the timing worked out better this way.
wild coil could be better then scorch wheel if it actually controlled well. Just bounces around everywhere.
Also you can slide into noise crush.
Great video as always mr gemini :D
Thank you!
When thinking about it, your wife sure will be good as Mega man in mega Man 8 playthrough
Haven't made up my mind yet about what I want to do with the voice acting there, but she'd certainly fit the part.
Treble even has a hitbox in that cutscene? That is neat. (I certainly hope you include this glitch in the bonus videos.)
If I triggered the glitch the way I think I did, I'm going to have a lot of fun with the cutscenes in the bonus video. :)
***** ..Well, do you know how to trigger it?
10:54 Dont forget about MM5 tricks and glitches reference, JUMP! JUMP! XDDDD
Of course not!
Wait what why do you try make bloopers
Best run ever your my mega man inspiration
Thank you! Glad to be of service. :)
I am getting a little tired of waiting for this guys awesomeness at showing off
Me too. Jeez, that guy.
***** like the inside joke dude
10:17 Did I already mention that Springman got cancled on acount of Snow?
"You will grow a third arm if you try to hit me."
WITCHCRAFT!
I love your videos man. I wish you had a more regular upload schedule, and continue to play other games in the series after the original series. Keep it up man, you really make watching someone play a game very entertaining.
Thanks! I'm trying to get back into a regular recording groove now that I don't have any other major side projects going on, so hopefully you'll see more soon.
Spring Man?
This is Mega Man, not Arms!…
I don't like fighting Shademan too much, but his level is probably the single most favorite level of mine in the whole series...that I've played. I haven't 9 or 10, or III and IV for the GB. Nor have I played them.
But yeah. I not only love Ghost n' Goblins, but I love horror-themed levels in games. Thus why there's actually two worlds with different flavors of horror in a game I'm creating.
I've never been big on horror themes, but they did a very good job with Shade Man's stage.
Mm... vampiric stuffing and turkey with gravy, yum
Hooray, a new video! This reminds me, have you seen The Cutting Room Floor's article on the Mega Man 7 prototype? There's a ROM of the prototype floating around online, and the article there dissects it and talks about difference in how weapons work, stage design, graphics, and other stuff. You should look it up!
I've seen a little bit about it, but I plan to read through the whole thing at some point in the relatively near future.
Your memory was likely repressed due to a past trauma. Like getting separated from you parents and almost getting eaten by a robot stegosaurus.
Also they should have done the second 4 stages kind of like the Wily stages, with set pieces that take of advantage of previously acquired abilities or even require them to advance.
Hah! They definitely do that in MM8, with the earlier weapons being required to complete some of the later Robot Master stages; here, the few weapons that make unique things happen are mostly isolated to the part of the game when you find them, which is a bit of a letdown.
Whooo finally ^^
I really enjoy watching your videos
I like your kind of humor and I can see that you put much time and effort in your videos. Keep it up!
Btw sorry for my grammar mistakes I am a german wiener :/
Thank you! And don't worry; your grammar is a lot better than some of the native English speakers I've seen around here! ;)
On the topic of diminishing replay value of having only 4 robot masters at the get-go, I believe there is a password that unlocks all 8 at the start,
There is! But it gets rid of the intro and mid stages, and it turns out that the second group of bosses is kind of difficult to go without beating the first group anyhow.
Yep yep yep. Completely agree.
I'm kinda surprised that he didn't demonstrate the one-hit kill on Spring Man. O_o
that part of shade man's stage is dark, but your icon is yet darker. very interesting, what do you guys think?
are you ever going to do a mega man 8 let's play?
Workin' on it! I started practicing the gameplay last month, and I'm set to start recording as soon as things calm down a bit.
Ok
+ninja undyne 101 NOW CAN I BE PART OF THE ROYAL GRARD UNDYNE?
+ninja undyne 101 he's releasing it when Half-Life 3 comes out
Now that I think about it, it kind of confounds me how they'd technically put not one but two "barrier" weapons in this game for Mega Man to collect, yet neither of them do a very good job when it comes to protecting the user effectively in general like barrier weapons in the past (Skull Barrier and Star Crash, if you will).
I'm debating as to whether they didn't think of Scorch Wheel as a technical "barrier" due to its small size or make up for the lack of a better barrier weapon with two runner ups if they were to add Junk Shield and Scorch Wheel in this game.
Are you kidding? Junk Shield is one of the best barriers in the series! It doesn't block projectiles, but it'll almost instantly destroy practically every enemy that isn't a miniboss, and possibly leave you with a partial barrier to save you the weapon energy of forming it again. Skull Barrier and Star Crash are only worth a hoot against smaller enemies, though they're still very good.
I doubt the developers really thought about Scorch Wheel as a barrier weapon so much as a rolling weapon you could ready in advance.
Hm... Yeah, I suppose. Thinking about it, they might've just wanted to remove the typical reflective property that most barriers have had to avoid it from being too powerful.
...Then again, if the junk is coming from the outside in towards the user, that could cause some glitches (Nathanial Hoover Bonus Video-Worthy glitches, if you will). Nevertheless, I never meant to belittle Junk Shield. Even though I can't say that I favor it over other barrier weapons, it's definitely up there.
...And speaking of special weapons, while we're (slightly) on the subject of Scorch Wheel, though, I know it's sort of a Mega Man tradition to get a weapon that makes no sense, but that's... Something else.
I used how you say this has been disaster piece theatre as my war cry for dr. light in my playthrough of miitopia with mega man miis
1:55-2:00 YOU JUST ALMOST BROKE THE GAME! GOOD JOB XDDDDD
And completely by accident, at that!
Awesome as always budd ! :) P.S upload more frequently!
Thank you, and workin' on it!
Rush's paws are divided into toes.
Indeed.
GeminiLaser replied to me?! SWOON!
I really want to see you instakill turbo man with the noise crush before the battle even starts in the bonus video, its one of the funniest glitches ever.
You also know that if you slide right after shooting the noise crush, you can slide into the shot and charge it in less than a second:? This makes the weapon go from good to amazing once you get it down.
There will definitely be some of that in the bonus video. :) As for the second part, I discovered that while recording, so I believe you may even see some of that in the next video.
***** Btw, 3:55 LOL
That was completely ad-libbed, and we're really happy with how that turned out.
I love grape flavored challenges!
I have to do it.
**ahem**
12:45 ......... 420.
I'll just hang my head in shame now.
I'm sure I'm missing something here.
+GeminiLaser The amount of bolts/screws you have is "420", also known as the number for smoking pot.
It's ,doh I missed! Not, Oh I missed! But you were close to getting it right.
N64 audio clips are tough to parse. And believe me, I listened to that clip repeatedly to ensure I was hearing it clearly.
That shield is kinda OP. o_o
Also, whaaat! A Doctor Who reference? YAI! Fellow Whovian? ö_ö
The Proto Shield, you mean? It's good, but there's a maneuverability tradeoff I'll talk about later, and positioning yourself to not get hurt by attacks like Spring Man's is tougher than it looks.
My in-laws are HUGE Doctor Who fans, so I've been catching up on the show out of the necessity to communicate with them. Also, I'm a fan of sci-fi in general, so I was going to get around to trying it out eventually. Unfortunately, while I like the concept of Doctor Who, I've had persistent issues with the writing-and that's not unique to any one era of the show, either. I've had at least a small sampling of every Doctor except the Sixth, and I have yet to go more than two or three episodes without sighing and frowning at the content of an episode, so it would be inaccurate to call me a fan, though I have genuinely enjoyed some episodes here and there.
Wait... The wobbly gumballs absorb you?!?!
Yay, guest appearance! And...you have to ask...who the hell builds a Spring Man anyways?
The same guy who builds a Top Man and a Sheep Man!
@@GeminiLaser And as of recently, a Bounce/Rubber Man!
11:40 "Did I mention that this game is japanese?"
Yep, that's a good clue.
YOU GET: A BUNCH OF YELLS!
AAAAAAUUGGHHH!!!
Finally!!! I am dying of waiting :)
Now you can die of excitement!
Well, that's not a threat; just an extra option on the table for you.
Not yet! There are still more to add to that excitement! xD
And... I'm Dying of waiting again. Can't wait for MM&B Right?
Oh wait.
3:46-3:54 who was that
I believe you neglected to address an important question in this video, Mr. Laser: How did Auto's Hyperbolt get lost in a spaceship toy factory?
The only reasonable explanation I can think of is that Auto worked there, but really, as Dr. Light's lab assistant, why would he be? Maybe Light Labs fell on some hard financial times.
Hey, ya gotta go where the money is. Hopefully we won't need to fight Tax Man in the next one.
In Mega Man 8? No, I'm afraid there's a greater foe we're up against in this one. You know who I'm talking about. :P
+gone-sovereign I know you mean clown man, but robots don't have genitals 😝
+gone-sovereign my first one had a typo, what I said was this: you mean W.D.Gaster!?!
Awesome as always GL
Thank you!
finally :'D
i ve been waiting for this part... for an EON ... another awesome
video for the geminilaser .... please dont make us wait this long again :( ...
also i though you would say something about the hard hat couples...
in the foreground of spring man stage ... that could be included in the bunos video :D ...
Believe me, I'm pumping these out as fast as I can! I did acknowledge the Hard Hats, but I don't really have anything more to say than that they're cute.
Dat Doctor Who reference. :D
Happy to oblige. :)
can you play mega man 9
Woo hoo Another awsome video.
Thanks!
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you've killed all the bosses. All though I do have some horrible memory of dinosaurs and near impossible to dodge attacks... nah, I think I'm just thinking about the final boss, as I find that near impossible to dodge...
At least, I hope that's right...
I hope so, too! Definitely remember there being a Dino Wily somewhere.
6:28 - Don't so gleefully knock the Dash Strats...They're Totes Legit :D
Yeah, well. We all know I'm just jealous of the Dash Strats. ;)
yay! its finally here :D
Hooray!
Man, you should to a collaboration with Roahm Mythril. He mentioned you in only one of his videos.
Well, he's recorded playthroughs of a few of my MaGMML levels; does that count?
What would happen if you got a dollar for every death you've ever had on mega man?
I would start dying for a living.
lol
i would have been a millionaire before 9 or 10...
I would love to play farming for Zombies.
Somebody make it happen!
7:10 Actually, Wario speaks german with this sentence. He is saying "So ein Mist!", not "No, I missed!" - which is translated as "Such a crap!".
Yes, but everybody calls it "D'oh I missed!" thanks to Chuggaaconroy.
Well, it's the same essence...
Steven Brewster
Actually Chugga is quoting his fellow runawayguy there; NintendoCapriSun
What!? I can't even see the full conversation for some reason, but I call shenanigans on all of you. I assure you, any German that Wario speaks in the English version of Mario Party is purely coincidental, like the few times people have sworn they caught me cussing in a video. "D'oh, I missed" makes perfect sense, given the context, and it's much more plausible than random German slang.
*****
Trust me. It is german. Wario's voice is done by "Thomas Spindler", a german voiceactor who worked for Nintendo. Look it up.
Do you hate MegaMan 10?
"Hate" is a really strong word. I am frustrated and extremely disappointed with MM10. If you're interested, here's an old review I wrote for GameCola...
gamecola.net/2010/04/mega-man-10-wii-ww/
...and my Series Opinions page with my thoughts about the game, which is really my definitive take on MM10:
nathanielhoover.weebly.com/mega-man-6-10.html
+GeminiLaser
I respect your opinion but I can't get enough of MegaMan 10, I can see why you don't like it though
Superb!
Thank you!
Did he REALLY just say Burrito Burner?
Must've been your imagination.
Sure it was.
It's an ILLUSION! Devisut by Satan!
"Devisut"?
Other character voice's through MEGA!NXD
I have no idea what that is.
i don't like auto. i think anything they had him do should have just been roll.
so you didn't think about TOP SPIN?!
THEY MADE DO WITH THAT S***!
SPRINGS WOULD BE A GOOD WEAPON!
I...don't exactly follow.
top spin + springs = actually decent.
btw...HURRY UP!!!
OHHHHH...yeah, that might just work! ...And speaking of work, I swear I am working on the next video. Just re-recorded the whole first quarter of it, but now I'm properly pleased with what I have. Hopefully more progress this weekend.
00:40 *quality drop ensues*
You are a cool guy GeminiLaser (half too use capital letters and misspell words inside the parentheses) I like you (also my real secret name is bort
Aw, thanks. And I promise I'll keep your secret name a secret.
*STAKE* your reputation.
So you picked up on that, eh?
I love how you react to bass saying "damn!" well if you played the Japanese version
of Mega Man X4 Zero says "くそ!" which means "Shit!" I would LOVE to see you react to that
Probably something like, "I...can't read Japanese!"
Rush has cute toes.
The level of detail in this game is nice, isn't it?
IS DARK.
Yes indeedy.
I sub
You ever try mega man 7 in 8-bit. Pretty nice mod if you're looking for something more challenging
I've played it. Definitely tougher, but in part because it's missing a lot of the nuances with the special weapons that make them so fun and useful.
