The point is to become aware, allowing the demons, Nixes, or archetypal energies, constellated complexes, and the Gods to come and instruct you. If this bothers you, perhaps it is that to which you should pay attention. Dreams come to those who wait.

Such that, it is not you, but that which you channel thru you, that is the geni, the daemon._ _The Greeks did NOT make the modern distinction we moderns do, automatically. You had to distinguish _*_"good"_*_ (agatha-) daemon or _*_"bad"_*_ (kako-) daemon. We now say "demon" means "bad spirit". And instead use the word "angel" (which is a nice word) for "good spirit".
