Your opinion is very professional! I would like to know which one do you recommend for DJ, the QSC K12.2 or the EV EKX 15p? Thanks, I'm waiting for your answer!
Hey gentleman, I always watch your videos, I switch from ELX115p’s over to the k12.2s and I was VERY VERY impressed with the clarify and the mount of bass coming from the 12. The EV would start to peak and the QSC would just get louder and clearer. I’m a converted QSC guy plus the 6 year warranty. Keep up the good work guys!
EV ETX series by far much better clarity and pounds hard! ETX also has a Delay option, so if you running next set of speakers 50ft further you will balance your sound to eliminate a unwanted echo sound!
I am not a big fan of sound tests on UA-cam because you loose quality during the recording. Both speakers sound great. What I wanted to focus on here are the details that you would consider as a mobile DJ besides sound quality.
I have almost that exact ETX system... 2x ETX-35p, 2x ETX-15p & 4x ETX-18sp... Monster sound for real! I used some ETX-12P as stage monitors for a show last week. I was able to have the monitors super loud (Music and Mics) with no feedback whatsoever.
I ordered 2 k12.2's one of them kept shutting off so I sent it back for a new one. Same result American musical supply told me to contact QSC long story short EV never let me down ever!!
i just bought k12.2 same thing shutting down used the old k12s 6 years never let me down. called qsc he told me they installed a protection mode on the k12.2 thats why the drop audio then have to be powered down and back on again. what a disappointment qsc long time fan looking elsewhere but where to go from here?
Greetings to all.. Friends who recommend me for DJ and live sound the QSC K12, EV, or YAMAHA I want something to hold and with clear sound when you turn up the volume. I will use them with 1 SUB under amplified. I hope you help ME.
Our rock band uses K12.2's for the mains and our singer's floor wedge and I've got a ZLX12 for my floor monitor. There is absolutely zero comparison. The K12 is SO much louder and clearer with seemingly little effort. Huge price difference but the sound quality difference matches.
the k12.2s are the ones ima be rocking, i was torn between EVs and the k.2s but ultimately went with the .2s cant wait to finally get them, keep up the good work, love yall comparison videos, does my boy Big Al have a youtube channel?
Dude WTF is Alex talking about an amp rack, obviously a person buying a powered system would NOT use an amp rack!!!!! & who needs an IPod when your about to do a gig!!! Just Let's you know that the EVs are not for fun!!!! There for the serious sound guy who's ready to ROCK!!!! I've used Both the Ev and k12's..... and By far the EVs kick butt get it Done!
Next time please do your homework on products before posting reviews. It will make you a credible reviewer. This review is absolutly flawed (or false)! 1) Meanwhile, the new QSC K12.2 has exactly the same power as QSC K12. They decided to change the marketing strategy an decided by now adverting the peak instead of the RMS (1000W), previously advertised on the K12. But nothing really changed besides adding a DSP. 2) K12/K12.2 has an SPL of 132db which is equivalent to EV ELX200 (SPL @130db). ZLX (SPL @126db) is far below the K12.2, and ETX (SPL @135) is above K12.2. 3) QSC did not eliminate 15 inch speakers from their product lines. They still make them. They just do not make them in their entry level (K Series) speaker line. You will need to step up to the big boys KW series (wood). 4) QSC 12.2 is a plastic speaker (ABS plastic material to be exact) which is why it weighs less than EKX/ETX (wood). For apple to orange comparison, do the expensive big brother 12inch, QSC KW122 (wood) and EKX12p (wood). Both have similar sounds very warm and pretty consumer-pro level. 5) ZLX and EKX both have AUX inputs for iPOD or whatever you need, just like QSC. I can go on and on calling your bluff but, you get the idea. I suggest people go to any music store and listen to the speakers. However, please make sure you reset the speakers to factory default. I know most stores usually tweak them to sway customers one way or the other. I own both (QSC & EV) and use them for various events, as needed. I am a fan of both, just wanted to set the record straight.
Jerry O and Homemixer Leo D: Since you guys know a lot about QSC and EV ... I am shopping around for a new keyboard amp, and although my band uses a pair of K12.2 for floor monitors, my Kronos sounds great through them as well. But, I am also looking at the QSC CP12. Any feedback on these? And, I'm looking at the EV ZLX-15P and ZLX-12P. Any feedback on these? Thanks!
@@bruin4937The ZLX are ok, they are entry level speakers. I am not sure how committed you are to your band but if your doing gigs on a regular basis you should look at the EV EKX passive if you have an amp to reuse.
@@bruin4937 Sorry for the late response. I feel the sound quality goes this way ZLX12p -> QSC CP12 -> ZLX-15p. So, it depends on what you are trying to do. On paper, the ZLX12p and CP12p have the same SPL (126db). However, imo, the CP12 easily edges out the ZLX when you really push them. The ZLX15p is slightly more powerful than both, maybe, because it is a 15inch speaker. If money isn't an issue and you do live music, I will suggest you stick with the QSC CP12, or pick the ZLX15p if you play Rap/EDM. Luckily, they are all available to demo at most stores. You can test them out to see what works best for you.
John O, I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. The K12 sends 500 continuous watts to the 12" speaker, and 500 continuous watts to the tweeter, in a biamped configuration, whereas the K12.2 sends 900 continuous watts to the 12" speaker and 112 continuous watts to the tweeter in a biamped configuration. While the continuous wattage is roughly the same, there is much more headroom with the K12.2, and it stays cleaner at higher volumes.
I have both the QSC K12.2 and ZLX 12 power speakers. To be honest I like the EVs better they sound deeper on the bass and they cost cheaper. I don't know why they compare the two being that the QSC is 2000w and the EVs are 1000w and EV sound better. QSC rapes you on the price of there generic speakers.
RCF ALL DAY! Since the title has the speakers labeled backwards I thought the RCF's were the EVs and I was thinking that the EV'S sounded the best. At the end of the demo when he announced that the RCF's were the last ones, those were the ones that I thought sounded the best and that explains why I say RCF'S all day. The EV'S sounded the worst!
I don't know why DJ's Glorified these QSC speaker I have them and don't care for them. I purchase the Yamaha 2 DSR-15 and 2 DXS- 18s and they are much louder and fuller deeper Bass. QSC lacks on the Bass. I'm getting rid of my Kw-18
Not a great video. Just a couple of guys getting off on listening to themselves talk like they're authorities. Where was the sound comparison? NONE. probably just as well as it would be another video with hip hop exaggerated bass music for music tasteless people.
Thanks for the heads up. I am an EV guy, I have been for over 20 years now. I like the QSC's but I am pretty invested in EV gear and I am not a fan of mixing up speaker brands.
Nothing wrong with that you buy what you like man i Had the the Peavey Dark Matters Damn they really suck light up all the time so i change over to Qsc K12.2 and just bought 1 KW181 like they say you get what you pay for love my Qsc's they are Bad Azz
I've upgraded to the newer K12.2s and the highs and mids are awesome. Definitely lacking in the bass department compared to the original k12s. I heard QSC has limited the low-end because of all of the blown subwoofers. The sound is great on the k12.2s, but it's a must you have a subwoofer. I like the option to not bring a sub. I want my k12s back :(
If you don't wanna bring sub around consider jbl prx series and up as well mackie HD series. I don't own Mackie HD speakers but those things work like subwoofers. If you manage to get the Mackie hd1531 then you probably would even need pole mount. Those things go down to 38 hz and that's a lot of bass for tops. Unfortunately they weigh like 92 lbs lol. The HD 1521 weighs I think 10 lbs less.
ZLX is just an entry level speaker. That is not an equal comparison dudes! All QSC speakers has never sounded good as far as clarity goes for me. They always sounded muffled. The have good low's on their small boxes but lacking in the mid-high's. The 35 is a very serious box and blows all the small boxes away due to it being a three-way box. You should have played some music through each.
Qsc continues to make crap k series speakers... I think their line array and passive speakers might be good but so far I don't like their k and kW piece of shits. Theyre just defective China products... Qsc k and kw series is deff not for the serious sound guy.. Qsc is a fun lil baby all around speaker for everyone. look at the presets.
