Greetings from Alabama USA. Thanks for the info. I've been considering getting one. Love Dublin, was there in 2017.

I like how your B&W photos come out. Are you shooting Acros jpegs or doing some post editing?

I'm using my own black and white Lightroom presets on the RAW files (after being converted with the "enhance" process in Lightroom) I used to have these on sale, but they're currently unavailable (I switched store providers a while ago) - I'm in the process of making them available again - I just need to update them for the current version of Lightroom. I do have the capture one version of them available though on my store that gives similar results: gum.co/ZvQAY I'm hoping to have the Lightroom versions available sometime next week

For those interested, the outside pieces to camera were shot on a Sony Z-V1, but the studio shots were actually shot on the XE-4 too - and the video quality is pretty good. You can see some of the photos from this shoot on my blog here too: blog.thomasfitzgeraldphotography.com/blog/2022/4/the-return-of-street-photo-diary-street-photography-with-the-fuji-x-e4

Hi. I just got my x-e4 yesterday and also want it to be the perfect street photography camera - but is also annoyed by that screen thing. I have fixed it by putting a tiny piece of black tepe over the eye sensor. Then it doesn’t turn the picture up side down. Of course the eye sensor doesn’t work at all when you put the eye to it. I have set my fn button to view mode. Unfortunately the refresh rate of the evf goes down put as sone as you press the shutter halfway the rate goes up again to normal. BTW - I love the city you live in 😀

Thanks - yeah, the screen flipping thing is a pain. I read somewhere someone had such with some semi transparent material for making it less sensitive. Not sure why they can't just put an option in the menu to disable it. It's not the best design in an otherwise great little camera

Thanks for doing this, Thomas. Did you not feel the lack of Focus mode switch on the front? That might be the only thing stopping me from swapping my X-E3 for a 4. I have a feeling that the later sensor suits me better (is more forgiving of wide ranges of exposure values), but I do like my Focus mode switch.

I thought I would but it hasn't really bothered me that much. It's quick enough to get to with the q menu

Doesn't using back button focus make the MCS switch largely redundant?

I hated the X-E4 when it was announced. Ended up buying one and it is my FAVORITE Fujifilm camera ever, even topping the X-E1 which is very special to me. I was complaining a lot about losing the focus switch too but I realized that we have a total of 8 custom setting slots available (C1-C7 and OFF) and we can assign any of them to either MF, AF-S, and AF-C! So I set my off to MF raw with AF-ON on the AEL/AFL so I can do AF-S or MF anytime. On C1, I set it to raw AF-C with tracking. While the rest are set to my favorite film recipes JPEGs which has made making images even more fun! I have one of the function buttons assigned to "Select Custom Settings." The beauty of assigning focus modes to the custom settings is you can actually set different AF modes suitable for it. What I mean is, with the old focus switch, if you change between AF-S and AF-C, you are stuck at the AF mode to single point, zone, or tracking you initially set. But by using custom settings, you can switch, for example, AF-S with single point to AF-C with tracking with just a button press and a flick of the dial or the selector nipple.
