Excellent video, Faizal! Such a beautiful short film vibe that really captures what you do and how this camera works for you. I found your channel a long while back when I first got the X100V. But I have really grown to just love your style and the methodology behind how you see things and shoot. Such an inspiration to me. Take care, my friend!
That was the clearest explanation of back button focus I've heard. Now I get it! And I've had my XE4 for several month now and never noticed the P or A settings. I'm going to try them out and see how it works for me and the way I shoot.
You are a blessing. I got mine today and I am already in love. Thank you for bringing us together. Came from analog fotography so adjusting was rather easy for me... therefore I adore your slow street fotography approach. Keep up the good work!
I need to admit, the big influence that make me sure to buy a camera and going for a walk, taking pictures, and to continue my hobby is this channel. Thanks Faizal 🖤
Thanks for all the hard work Faizal. This was super beautiful. Love all the static sequences. I could honestly watch this over and over. Hope you are well.
You just explained to me how to use Metering Mode in the simplest way possible. I've watched countless videos and every single one left me with unanswered questions. Thank you.
The video I've been waiting on! I have serious interest in purchasing this camera. Especially for EDC carry. Thanks so much for diving into the details and sharing your experience!
@@FaizalWestcott it really shows! I think the opening song created the right mood and sets it apart from the previous videos. It reminded me a lot of your chinatown video, which is one of my favorites.
Nice review, I’m old school though and still use the focus and shutter button for what it’s always been set at. If I’m doing some fixed shots, I can just turn the focus to manual. But whatever works for each individual. Never cared much for the 35 mm range, but love the 50 F2, 75 mm equivalent. 🖖
I bought the Fuji XE-4 yesterday I have to say that you videos of this camera were helpful. You talked about technical stuff but really I enjoyed more your approach as a photographer what the camera makes you feel and how do you feel when you get out with this camera. I wish everybody can talk from the photographer’s perspective more.
I share a lot of your thoughts about this camera. A lot of people complaining about the missing switch button for af mode and the "over" minimalist took compared to the X-E3. I come from the Canon world, with an old trusty / heavy / chonky 5DMKII. When i've choosen to switch to Fuji, it was so "refreshing" (not sure if this is the right expression in english). I rediscovered the joy to shoot with a simple camera, like i did it with all my old film cameras. I don't really need that much, aperture / shuttering speed / exposure compensation and that's all ! Then just go shoot ! No overthinking, complicated workflow or whatsoever. And as many, it was hard to choose between the X-E4 and the X100V. But to not limit my "vision", to be able to change lenses was the good reason that i choose the X-E4. And finally, it's one of the cheapest camera from fuji and in that specific range compared to other brand. But you keep all the advanced technology from the flagship. That's just amazing ! As usual Faizal, you make really good content. I really like what you share and the way you doing it. Keep it up ! (greeting from France)
Nice video Faizel, thanks for making it. Speaking as somebody who owns an X100V, I have a sneaky suspicion the X-E4 offers better value for money and added versatility. But for my own day to day I opt for the V 90% of the time, I also have an X-T3 with a few lenses. Ease of use and portability are huge factors in people's decision making when out using their cameras. Good things come in small packages!
I am a retired senior & hobby photographer, & first time watching your excellent video presentation. Recently purchased a X-E4 a few months ago & enjoy it's simplicity. I robbed the Fuji 18-55 & 70-300 lens from my 2 1/2 year old X-T3 which is in dire need of some use, but the X-E4 has taken precedence. My new 23 mm f1.4 WR LM Fuji came in a few days ago & looking forward to some prime shooting with it. That's about as far as I intend to go with lens acquisitions. I reviewed dozens of my photos & found my fl was closer to 23 than 35, hence the choice. The 70-300 is getting a major workout with the local breakfast club squirrels & birds at my feeder. Am also a new subscriber.
I just received a rental X-E4 this afternoon. I immediately put the 35mm f/2 on it as that seems like a perfect match. I came by to see how you set your camera up and you provided some good insight. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this great feedback and tips and experience sharing. I’m a Fuji user (XPro2/ X100t / XT20…) and I was hesitating between X100V and X-E4 for daily photography. I love X100 serie but I guess X-E4 with 35 and 23 F2 lenses can be a great deal too. Your video was very helpful. Congrats from Paris 🇫🇷 for your great photography work too.
Wonderful job on the video! This camera as such a vibe to it, I'd love to test it! It seems like the perfect camera for a family: user friendly enough for the beginner, while maintening that Fuji high quality for more experienced users
I've had the Fuji xt1 and xt10, and now have a Fujifilm xe3 with 23mm f2 - it has definitely become my favourite combination for pretty much everything. Prior to that, the Lumix GX80 with 25mm was my main camera for years.
Man you’re a god of street photography, don’t listen to the hate. Every photo you take is complete in itself, we don’t need a back story to understand your pictures. They speak for themselves. I just wanna say that whatever you’re doing its working. Keep up the good work.
Fuji cameras are such a beast when it comes to photography. I am seriously very impressed with the images the Fuji line of camera captures. Keep up the good work with the informative videos.
Really appreciate the effort you put in to make this video informational while artistically pleasing! And can we talk about the recent upload frequency🤨 keep ‘em coming man!
Hi. Best how to and beginner setup and choices explanation I've seen so far. I'll still keep my Sony A7 R3 but I've chosen this little XE4 and the 35 mm F2 to get lighter when traveling.
For you making a one year “Experience” video I do appreciate. For anything gear or tech related a lot of people will do 1 week, 1 month of 3 month video over using gear for that duration of time. Which I think is ridiculous since that’s not enough time really to fine tune your likes and dislikes since things can change. Where a one year review overview can speak volumes on what the gear was like to use/own and how your likes can become dislikes and vice versa with the dislikes to likes. Top-notch as always! Fuji film really is one of those brands everyone should at least one point try to test out and own👌🏼
If you want the ultimate lens combination for the X-E4 to be compact and stealthy, you should look at the XF27mmF2.8 R WR, which is a pancake lens that is the equivalent of a 40mm lens. It's a good compromise focal lengthwise and a good choice for street work too. Great video 👍
@@worldseries1998 the new one isn't, but its optics and mechanics (including the slightly dodgy autofocus, unfortunately!) are exactly the same as the old version and those are really easy to find used for less than half the SRP of the new version. You don't get weather sealing or a dedicated aperture ring on the old ones though, so it's definitely a trade-off.
@Mac Jim how do you find the 27mm compares to other lenses like the 35mm or 23mm f/2's? I'm currently looking at these lenses and trying to weigh up which will suit me best. I like the idea of the focal length of the 27mm as a goldilocks between the two f/2 lenses, and the tiny form factor is definitely a big plus, but I don't just shoot street and I'm worried the f/2.8 isn't going to be fast enough for shooting indoors in lower light. How do you find it? Do you think I could I get away with it as my main lens or is it more of a specialised street lens that needs something else in the bag to supplement it?
Oddly enough I was able to pick up my Xe4 with this specific lens in a kit for 1499 AUD ($1032) which is gladly $100 bucks off retail for the body and lens kit). I'm also about to attain a 35mm f1.4 over the f2 variant for better lower light performance as I find the 27mm f2.8 slightly lacking in the low-light department. (also I'm no expert as I am new to photography, but I tried out a 35mm f1.4 in comparison to my 27mm f2.8 and the differences in low light performance was night and day haha).

I’ve really enjoyed the cinematography of your recent videos. All of the shots have been really gorgeous! Kind of a dumb question but what good are you using on your 35mm f2? I shoot with the OVF on my X-Pro3 pretty frequently and I like that the hood you use has the cutout for the viewfinder.

Hi there, good honest user video. I am actually in the market to purchase either the XE4 or possibly an older X Pro 2. Plus there is a cost consideration as well. If you have any additional pointers please feel free to let me hear. thank you!
Thanks for the content! 1. What kind of gloves are you using with your camera? (Finding it hard lately to shoot on cold days!) 2. After you lock your exposure, can you manually adjust (with your focus lever) your focus point? I know on the X-E3 you couldn't do that, but they had firmware released for the X-T4 to allow the focus point to move. Just wondering if that ported over in a firmware update for the X-E4.
