Guardiola spends weeks on the training ground over the course of the season to work on City’s style of play and recruits players to fit into this mold. Southgate is given a fixed group of players and is forced to create a system around those players. The biggest thing for England is creating a team culture between the players for the tournament month where they can enjoy the pressure that comes with playing for England in a major tournament and Southgate has done a fantastic job to give us fans belief that we can win again.

I think when you get to the tougher games (i.e. France, and Germany) the difference will come from the coaching and the tactics. That is the area that Southgate will most likely fail in.
I think Grealish is key. He’s the only english player with that bit of street fight you need to get you through the days that aren’t going so well. Without him England will roll over a bit too easily when the going gets tough.

Southgate is everything a coach is NOT. He is most definitely NOT a coach. If anything, he is the epitome of what a manager who isnt a coach is. Except he also doesnt have the tactical nous of a pure manager. He is literally just a man-manager. Pats everyone on the back, makes them feel good, but contributes nothing himself. While the feel-good factor in a camp is important especially from the top guy, there is very little difference in output between a feel good factor that is good enough and one that is superb, other than the benefit for the players individually. In international football, especially with the current England team and the individual ability and experience of our players, there is far more benefit in tactical or coaching expertise being the strong point of a coach, as long as he does not make the players feel unhappy. Most of our players know the positional tactics, complexity and dynamics that Pep and Arteta employ and they have experience in adapting to all the little variations in roles that Pep and Arteta demand. Our manager should be exploiting that and trying to implement his influence on role setup and get the players on-board with his ideas. There's none of that from Southgate. You can see in his eyes, his mind is a blank when it comes to tactical details. He just lets the players figure it out for themselves, which thankfully is going alright because our players are very knowledgeable and experienced tactically.
This happens every single international tournament. England fans think they're going to win the whole thing, it's coming home chants are out, then they bottle it somewhere in incredible fashion and they become the world's laughing stock. It's a strong team, but you've only won one major tournament in your history.

That game last night was awful. All the players were drifting into the middle. There was no true wingers on the pitch to provide crosses into the box until Jack Grealish came on the pitch. The left and right backs were crossing over and left the centre backs exposed. If the other team were not so awful in the final third, England would have lost. Southgate is experimenting with the setup. We have attacking galore but defense is suspect.

I look for results and his results are consistently better than usual for England so I’m fine with it.
I think when you get to the tougher games (i.e. France, and Germany) the difference will come from the coaching and the tactics. That is the area that Southgate will most likely fail in.

I think Grealish is key. He’s the only english player with that bit of street fight you need to get you through the days that aren’t going so well. Without him England will roll over a bit too easily when the going gets tough.

Southgate is everything a coach is NOT. He is most definitely NOT a coach. If anything, he is the epitome of what a manager who isnt a coach is. Except he also doesnt have the tactical nous of a pure manager. He is literally just a man-manager. Pats everyone on the back, makes them feel good, but contributes nothing himself. While the feel-good factor in a camp is important especially from the top guy, there is very little difference in output between a feel good factor that is good enough and one that is superb, other than the benefit for the players individually. In international football, especially with the current England team and the individual ability and experience of our players, there is far more benefit in tactical or coaching expertise being the strong point of a coach, as long as he does not make the players feel unhappy.
Most of our players know the positional tactics, complexity and dynamics that Pep and Arteta employ and they have experience in adapting to all the little variations in roles that Pep and Arteta demand. Our manager should be exploiting that and trying to implement his influence on role setup and get the players on-board with his ideas. There's none of that from Southgate. You can see in his eyes, his mind is a blank when it comes to tactical details. He just lets the players figure it out for themselves, which thankfully is going alright because our players are very knowledgeable and experienced

That game last night was awful. All the players were drifting into the middle. There was no true wingers on the pitch to provide crosses into the box until Jack Grealish came on the pitch. The left and right backs were crossing over and left the centre backs exposed. If the other team were not so awful in the final third, England would have lost. Southgate is experimenting with the setup. We have attacking galore but defense is suspect.
