The N was probably my favorite channel growing up. I started watching Degrassi TNG when it aired here in 2002, when The N was part of Noggin. I also loved Radio Free Roscoe, South of Nowhere, Instant Star, The Best Years, O'Grady, etc. Btw that clip of Good Charlotte is sending me. My favorite band during that time too lmao.
The N was so much different from every other channel, it was unique and aired a variety of shows like Saved By The Bell, Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide, Unfabulous, About A Girl, Moesha, Zoey 101, iCarly, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Drake and Josh, True Jackson VP, Romeo!, Just Jordan, H20: Just Add Water, Alien Surf Girls, etc. The N and TeenNick(from 2009-2015) is really the only channel I could say that was really aimed towards teenagers and young adults. They even had music videos and did interviews with different artists during The N’s tenure, and the website was a great way to share your opinions and meet new people online. The shows and the promos they aired as well as the commercials was great, now the channel is aimed more for pre-teens with shows like Game Shakers, Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan, The Thundermans, and Henry Danger, while also playing the same reruns of iCarly, Sam and Cat and Victorious for the past 4-5 years. TeenNick is a hollow shell of it’s former self now, sadly.
Thanks for the nostalgia blast that I barely remember existing and would have thought was a fever dream if I hadn't looked it up. I was only a kid in the early 2000s, too old for the stuff on nick jr yet too young to care about teen nick, but I have alot of memories of flicking the channels between Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network and seeing the 6 PM crossover between the two blocks like CN did with Adult Swim, so there's an obscure nostalgia there too. You hit the nail on the head with TV having a different feel back then, in an era where it was still relevant, before the smartphone era replaced it. Maybe that's just my inner boomer talking but there was just something special about TV in the early 2000s, something that can never be replicated, something that's now lost in the sands of time..
when I was in high school, if my TV was on, it was probably on the Teen Nick channel. I loved Radio Free Roscoe and absorbed so much Degrassi even though I didn't actually watch the show, just left it on in the background while I worked on things.Teen Nick would play music videos early in the mornings sometimes, and it introduced me to kpop! they played BoA's English single, as well as f(x)'s Nu Abo, which wasn't initially marketed to foreign audiences. the fact that they played a non-english kpop song was really different for the time (2010!!!) and showed how it used to be a channel that was a bit edgy and trendy. it's a shame how it fell apart.
I really appreciate you taking highlights of the Claire x Eli era of Degrassi, idc how that ages me but those shark in the water days were v formative for me
oh my GOD I got so sick of hearing that song because they played that promo EVERY commercial break!!! I can still remember that ad almost shot for shot lmao
as soon as she said it's time to see what eli and clare are up to on this weeks degrassi i liked lol. i remember literally crying in my room when he was stabbed. and until this moment i completely forgot i used to write stories on quizilla!! one of my favorite things about the n was their original network commercials! not a single person i have ever brought up the n to has had any idea what i was talking about
Ah, Quizilla. Teens seemed so much more creative back then... writing full-length novels about vampires and boarding schools, just for the fun of it. And yeah, the on-air promos from The N were very artful and stylized.
I just wanted to let you know that I thought this was a really good video. I thought I was the only person that remembered The N and while I personally mainly used it to watch shows like Zoey 101 and D&J that it was a really good network and hits different from what TeenNick is now. I do lowkey miss TeenNick Top 10 though.
ZOEY 101 WAS SO GOOD! Especially the shipping between Zoey and Chase! My stubborn self was too into cartoons to even care for Teennick shows. I was obsessed with shows like the Fairly OddParents for a few years, but it wasn't until after iCarly debuted when I started watching more Teennick shows. I was 12 going on 13 at the time. Shows like Drake and Josh and Zoey 101 had already ended, but still aired as reruns. It hasn't been the same since.
Degrassi is my favorite show of all time and I have EXTREME nostalgia for The N as a result. I also freaking loved their website! It was so fun making your avatar look like a Degrassi character. My other favorite shows on the network were South of Nowhere, Queen Bees, and Dance Academy. What a time to be alive! I am so glad I got to be a teen in the 00's.
I freakin' loved this channel in high school! Degrassi, Zoey 101, Ned's Declassified, iCarly. The N was better than TeenNick! I wish they had continued it more just when I started to watch it in 10th and 11th grade.
My child hood right here. This was when tv was great. I remember coming home ready to watch shows. This is exactly where my rock influence had came from. They’d play music videos in between commercials and my lil adolescent brain was just amazed. It’s sad that it ended. I thought ppl had forgot about it. But I’m glad ppl remember it.
Thinking about watching the N late at night in my living room and there was no real commercials.. it gave off weird vibes always to me. Hopefully someone understands what I mean. It’s hard to explain but it was almost like you were watching a channel from a different country
I remember watching the N sign on footage, and I remember seeing the N's Schedule. The whole Thing why Noggin split itself was because of business issues behind the scenes. We don't wanna know.
I’ve been trying to find ANYONE who has recorded the N when it was airing and i can’t find it ANYWHERE. I just wanna watch degrassi with the corny “we’ll be right back” & early 2000’s commercials I want to relive my childhood a smidgennn
I didn't know Noggin and The N were the same channel. I thought that The N was its own channel that got turned into TeenNick and Noggin was its own channel that got turned into Nick Jr. It was so long ago so I can't clearly remember.
Noggin was introduced in 1999 as a channel aiming towards both preschoolers and tweens/teens (essentially a family learning channel). Noggin aired shows like The Electric Company, Bill Nye, Sesame Street, Sponk, A Walking In Your Shoes, etc. But in 2002, the network was split into two separate networks after there was a lack of preschool content, Noggin becoming a daytime pre-schooling network, while The N became a nighttime teen network. When The N was introduced, shows that were targeted towards teens, such as A Walk In Your Shoes and Sponk, were moved over to The N block. In 2007, MTV Networks/Viacom shut down the former Nick GAS channel, and converted that channel slot into a 24/7 version of The N. When The N went 24/7, it shared the channel with the former TEENick block (that was on Nick), and aired its shows in the daytime, and aired The N shows at the nighttime for a more mature audience (like it was when it was on Noggin). In 2009, Nickelodeon rebranded The N into “TeenNick” after merging The N and TEENick blocks into ONE single network.
I came here from another video but as a person that was such a huge degrassi fan. The season 10 degrassi finale really was a TIME the way I cried... look
The N was pretty much the only channel I ever watched when I was around 13-16. The website was everything to me, it was so much fun and you could do so many things, even post pictures a la Myspace. Seeing that the website now is just teennick's tv schedule is just sad.
TeenNick and The N raised me. It was more TeenNick because I was born right around The N’s departure. I more grew up on Seasons 12-14 of Degrassi. I remember that TeenNick did this Summer of You thing in like 2015 and they aired new episodes of Every Witch Way and Degrassi my two favorite TeenNick shows. They also had a series called Open Heart which I really enjoyed. All TeenNick airs now is non stop reruns of iCarly and Victorious. Now don’t get me wrong iCarly and Victorious are both great shows that I love to watch but it doesn’t need to be aired 22/24 hours a day. That’s absurd. I want shows like Degrassi, South of Nowhere, Every Witch Way, True Jackson VP, Alien Surf Girls, Make it Pop, What I Like About You, H20, Gigantic, etc. back!!! But it probably won’t come back. TeenNick died around 2015-16. I just think of The N/TeenNick as discontinued from 2002-2016. It was a great channel to raise me and I thank it but kids today will never know how good it was back in the 2000’s and 2010’s. There is hope for Nickelodeon/TeenNick yet tho, there is this new show out called Drama Club. It’s a mockumentary about a middle school Drama Club. I thought it was pretty funny. But I can only watch all these shows on streaming services and think about the old days.
They still have the rights to Every Witch Way and Gigantic. They own rights to shows like Teen Wolf, Guidance, and T@gged which are all teen-oriented shows but refuse to air them.
The N has been the end to TeenNick. I used to watch it a little bit when I was young after Noggin was over at 6pm and yes I used to watch Nick GaS. It was so fucking cool.
Ahh, the nostalgia. It's so odd that I didn't really **watch** the N. I was a bit too young to be into the shows and it didn't interest me, but my sister would have it on and we'd watch Degrassi together all the time. I was probably still too young to be fully engaged in the content. But somehow I got addicted to playing Avatar High! It was so good. I've been going down a rabbit hole the past week to uncover all I can about Avatar High to make a video on it. It's just interesting to me that the N is simultaneously nostalgic to me and also not my thing. I blame the fact that I really loved the Nick GaS channel and the N replaced it. 😅 Also, I was really into Quizilla in my pre-teen years.
Quizilla! I spent so much time on there as a 12 year old and I couldnt remember the name for the longest time, I was starting to think is was a fever dream. PLEASE make a video about it!
Degrassi, South of Nowhere, Gigantic, Every Witch Way, Open Heart... you just had to be there. Even its more family friendly origjnal shows like Make it Pop were enjoyable. Now its all kiddie trash with Henrh Danger reruns taking up most of the channel. And NickRewind was discontinued but that didnt affect anything much considering they just played Rugrats all night long. I miss the days of back to back Every Witch Way/Talia in the Kitchen/Degrassi new episodes during weeknights in July 2015. Or rooting for your favorite characters in the poorly produced teen dramas that lasted for a season or two. And im most nostalgic for the latter half of good teennick but even The N was revolutionary. RIP The N/TeenNick 2002-2016. Its honestly all due to Brian Robbins the new president of Nickelodeon. He shut all the good stuff down and put NickToons and TeenNick on autopilot of crappy reruns while he tries to revamp a bunch of 90s shows for the main network which isnt working out to well. All these shows will be remembered and thank god for streaming because i can relive my younger years. Also if you want to know where to stream old teennick original shows here you go (USA Edition): Degrassi (HBO Max/Tubi) Every Witch Way (Paramount +) Open Heart (Pluto TV On Demand) House of Anubis (Paramoungt +/Netflix) Make It Pop (Paramount +) Teen Wolf (Hulu/Paramount +) As Told By Ginger (Paramount +) Guidance (Paramount +) I Am Frankie (Paramount +) Alien Surf Girls (Free on UA-cam) H20 (Free on UA-cam) Gigantic, Talia in the Kitchen, Hollywood Heights, South of Nowhere, etc. have to be bought on Amazon/Apple TV or streamed illegally, sorry :/
oh my GOD this just gave me such intense flashbacks. i remember being like 8 or 9 and watching the Noggin end of night song, and then my mom sending me and my sisters out of the room so she could watch degrassi LMAO. def not the target audience but like...
The ending lmaooo y’all don’t understand the chaos and havoc that the promos and lead ups to that episode created💀 I really thought I was gonna lose Eli back then.
Hey, look, no offense but this video wasn't researched that well and contained a lot of misinformation. Half of the shows you talk about weren't even on The N. Unfabulous, Zoey 101, H20, House of Anubis, Hollywood Heights, those never were on The N. They all aired after the network rebranded. With the opening, you mentioned how "it's time to see what Eli and Clare are doing in Degrassi", but, they weren't on the episodes of Degrassi aired on The N, they were on The N as a channel. You never even talked about the seasons of Degrassi aired on The N, period. Moose and Zee never even existed in 1999, nor did The N. The N began in 2002, and Moose and Zee joined the good ship Noggin in 2003. It's like you were writing a video about the history of TeenNick and then changed the focus last minute. Even more true how you state you're covering The Rise and Fall of TeenNick in the intro. Soooooo why'd you cover the N then? To get more views? I dunno, this is just confusing.
For a long time, I've had this memory of laying in bed late at night when I was *really* young, watching TV as I grew tired enough to fall asleep. On the TV was a show of teens in a jungle environment, taking part in a game show like The Hidden Temple (which is something I also watched at the same age-range late at night) but my brain is absolutely certain this was a different show. I remember only parts of a logo in the corner and when I saw the thumbnail, the logo stuck out to me as matching the vague details that have still survived the memory's decay. So when the list of shows went through, I looked it up, and I'm pretty sure the show in that memory was Girls vs Boys. Have no recollection of the other shows said to have been part of the block, though. I'm also 99% sure House of Anubis was a different era and actually aired on regular Nick. I remember in a message board I was into between 2013-2017 (Wikipedia says The N lasted 2002-2009, which fits the timeline for my childhood memory), someone made an RP for that show, and it was still airing (altho I think this was after the reveal the show was canceled). Now, reruns of shows have skewed my memory of a show's age before, so maybe I'm just mistaking a rerun period as it freshly coming out.
The N played so many good international shows too, and at a time when it felt like no other channels were! 24Seven from the UK, Being Eve from New Zealand, Out There from Australia, Instant Star and Radio Free Roscoe from Canada - they felt so cool and I adored them all. I wish those shows were easier to find online these days.
I remember when they used to play stuff like Degrassi. The last time I saw the show lineup, they were playing shit like the Thundermans and that was a few years ago. What? That’s not what teens are going to watch.
Can someone highlight my comment?: For those who wanna watch classic shows again like Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, All That, Rugrats, download the CBS All Access App. It's like Nickelodeon's Netflix.
By the way Noggin was never always for preschoolers. Throughout 1999 and 2002 Noggin was for older kids and preteens. Some of the shows that aired on Noggin during that era also aired on The N.
I don’t know why they don’t just take the cartoon based nickrewind block and put it at the same time but on nicktoons??? That would make more sense and then still show the more “heavy” teen dramas at night or even teen movies!! Just something else to keep the channels original theme and not just watch rugrats reruns on TEENNICK. They’d be better off even showing All Grown Up episodes. So many older live action nick shows (The Troop, Supah Ninjas, True Jackson VP) are being neglected from space being given only to Victorious.
It was 3pm in California when Noggin signed off, which I thought was always unfair for kids in the west (Hawaii and Alaska times are even worse) if think about it 6am - 6pm ET is 3am - 3pm PT tell me how many preschoolers do you know that are up at 3 in the morning?
Random, but I wonder what it would be like if Scout Master Lumpus from Camp Lazlo would replace Moose in Noggin. Considering Lumpus is a Moose as well. With Slinkmen helping.
BRUH. i will always be bitter about Whistler. i got so deep into that show even though it didn’t last long at all. and i still wish i could rewatch it :(

oh my GOD this just gave me such intense flashbacks. i remember being like 8 or 9 and watching the Noggin end of night song, and then my mom sending me and my sisters out of the room so she could watch degrassi LMAO. def not the target audience but like...
2:35 never forgot House of Anubis. Top 10 favorite show of all time for me
This was my channel, the music videos during the breaks, Degrassi, instant star, reruns of the fresh prince .. man
The ending lmaooo y’all don’t understand the chaos and havoc that the promos and lead ups to that episode created💀 I really thought I was gonna lose Eli back then.
Finally someone else who remembers queen bees I remember that show so vividly
Nickelodeon used to be so good but the shows now are so trash.
@Papper Aninate 2004 Nah Glitch Techs saved Nickelodeon The Loud House is pretty dull and overhated
The N is one of the best TV programming blocks of all time! They had the best teen shows.
the n had me in a chokehold i swear
I remember when they used to play stuff like Degrassi. The last time I saw the show lineup, they were playing shit like the Thundermans and that was a few years ago. What? That’s not what teens are going to watch.
That channel is dead
Yo i remember the N and the change to teen nick this is sick great video
as a Kid, I was waiting for my favorite animated cartoons to show up on the N, but i found out that it focused more on Live action shows
Teen Nick is the Match of Nick Rewind, and Noggin Rerun!
The N was the shit. Degrassi, Radio free Roscoe, instant star & South of nowhere was the Shit... (90s babies) we grew up in a distinct era.
I remember The N came on at 5pm Chicago time after Noggin when I was 3-4.
HOUSE OF ANUBIS WAS MY SHIT! I have the whole series on DVD😭
3:23 that was the first thing ever aired on the n’s 24/7 network
Anyone remember the chat rooms they used to have? And they showed movie premieres and shows?
Replace Eli and Clare with Manny and Jay. Because the Eli and Clare generation didn't start until the network became TeenNick
0:00
whats that bumper 🤔
Awesome video
You forgot Twenty-Four-Seven and Just Deal.
Can someone highlight my comment?: For those who wanna watch classic shows again like Drake and Josh, Zoey 101, All That, Rugrats, download the CBS All Access App. It's like Nickelodeon's Netflix.
The N was basically the station to watch Degrassi, and now there’s a whole tv channel dedicated to Degrassi 😅
Oh degrassi I was so obsessed 😩
That was back when Nick was good and the n I miss that
By the way Noggin was never always for preschoolers. Throughout 1999 and 2002 Noggin was for older kids and preteens. Some of the shows that aired on Noggin during that era also aired on The N.
I wish they made more shows with teen focus
0:00-0:06 I can't find the original promo you used anywhere.
O*Grady was such a hidden Gem during The N's runtime
oh my damn!!!!! the memories that came flooded back in!!
OMG I REMEMBER BEYOND THE BREAK!! noggin and the n was my shit!
I wish I was an 2000s kid 😢
@Papper Aninate 2004 Its cool you stills count as a 2000s kid at least you got to grow up with all these awesome shows
Yeah you missed out 😪
I don’t know why they don’t just take the cartoon based nickrewind block and put it at the same time but on nicktoons??? That would make more sense and then still show the more “heavy” teen dramas at night or even teen movies!! Just something else to keep the channels original theme and not just watch rugrats reruns on TEENNICK. They’d be better off even showing All Grown Up episodes. So many older live action nick shows (The Troop, Supah Ninjas, True Jackson VP) are being neglected from space being given only to Victorious.
Inuyasha lemons on quizilla, and playing that Avatar High game on The N website
It was 3pm in California when Noggin signed off, which I thought was always unfair for kids in the west (Hawaii and Alaska times are even worse) if think about it 6am - 6pm ET is 3am - 3pm PT tell me how many preschoolers do you know that are up at 3 in the morning?
Random, but I wonder what it would be like if Scout Master Lumpus from Camp Lazlo would replace Moose in Noggin. Considering Lumpus is a Moose as well. With Slinkmen helping.
I miss the-n. Wish they wouldn’t of ruined it with Nickelodeon trash
BRUH. i will always be bitter about Whistler. i got so deep into that show even though it didn’t last long at all. and i still wish i could rewatch it :(
This video is really good but there's a bunch of misinfo with certain things being in different times.
I missed the experimentation
i don't know why but im watching the video and the mages on screen don't sync with the audio anymore
Miss it
it was a great be pre-teen ( for my memories I made a playlist with all the old shows & commercials
Queen Bees! You unlocked a memory there!
Oh finally someone with similar experiences.
im shocked you didnt do noggin yet the forgotten network
7:07 What was that and why was it familiar?
They need to bring the N back.
Was really a good time to be a kid/teen 😭😭 I miss it haha
