  • Nigeria is our homeland. Regardless of the state of it. Good or bad. There are two main reasons Nigerians in the diaspora are investing in Nigeria, one because it’s our homeland and two this is going to be one of the world’s largest economies in a few short years, and money dey here.
    Nigeria has the most millionaires and billionaires per capita than all of Africa. Period point blank
    So many Nigerians have left for a stable environment and better opportunities. however just because they left doesn’t mean they have cut off all ties to Nigeria. The Nigerian diaspora is one of the greatest assets that Nigeria has. According to Vanguard, The Nigerian diaspora sent 17.2 billion dollars back home during 2020 (the covid year). it’s time to figure out how the Diaspora can play more of a role in the development of Nigeria.
    This diaspora pull isn’t new to the world. Jewish people were investing millions in Israel, Afghans were investing in millions in Afghanistan when no foreign investment was interested, Indian diaspora raised 11 billion dollars for India. The love of homeland is a strong reason to do something. And a lot of these investments were raised when the environment felt hopeless and negative but the diaspora believed and hoped for a better future.
    Right now, a lot of the news about Nigeria isn’t looking good but it’s time for us to be visionaries and double down, just like any other diaspora group. Many of you are watching this platform because you want to seek a connection to Nigeria, so let’s create positive connections.
    Iveoma Media is striving to be that organization that bridges the divide by providing up-to-date realistic information on the Nigerian market and building relationships between the diaspora and vetted organizations/manufacturers/or businesses in Nigeria. With any system of governance, thread with utmost caution, read the fine prints of legal documents, and put under surveillance all peoples, entities, institutions, etc. Study the Nigerian system and do your own due diligence.

    Sis, you're right. I have been saying this to my friends to see the needs to invest at home because nobody is going to do it but us. Imagine if over five millions of us pull our resources together and invest in every sector of the economy, we will dictates policies and influence government decisions. Rather than doing that, we sit back and complain more than foreigners. I love what you are doing. You will look back one day and praise yourself for coming back home. I just loved you ❤. Money dey here, let them hear it. Thank you, Ive.

    There's a need to leverage "Emotional Connections" the Nigerian diaspora has for their motherland,
    and channel it appropriately in the right direction as regards investments. ( "Impact Investing" )
    The Nigerian Diaspora needs access to succinct Data & information,
    + needs to leverage Sincere/Competent "Bridge-builders" (like Iveoma)
    so as to be guided accordingly, in the right direction.
    The Goal is for Diaspora Remittances to evolve into Diaspora Investments,
    which could become the largest source of "Foreign Direct Investment",
    and can ultimately can be used to shape "Public Policy" positively.
    As Oil loses its luster, The Nigerian Government will be forced to undertake "painful but necessary" reforms over the next decade, so that Nigeria can ultimately evolve from an "Oil run state" to a "Tax run state"

    • @IveomaMedia
      @IveomaMedia  2 роки тому +4

      Yes @ impact investing!! The data/information is hard to come by but we absolutely need it. So many organizations and businesses are needed in this space. It's quite exciting!! Fingers crossed we can do this.

    There is only so far private investment can go. .There was a time that Nigeria had postal service, mail was delivered to to your house by the mail man ! There was chlorinated running tap water provided by the Ministry of public works , bore holes were something done in remote villages! People have been investing for DECADES! Since independence and yet here we are .A lack of basic living standards , water ,electricity, good roads, also impacts business and development .Also many of those millionaires and billionaires got rich on Government money .Contracts in the billions awarded without nothing to show for it!! I continue to send dollars to help relatives start businesses, pay school fees because what else to do?

    • @IveomaMedia
      @IveomaMedia  2 роки тому

      Interesting points!! Yes @ Impacts business development. Many of the millionaires and billionaires made money as traders and manufacturers.
      Focusing on your family makes perfect sense. Many Nigerians feel the same way you do but paying for schooling isn’t the investment that this platform is focusing on at all. It’s time to invest with a purpose and with a maintenance plan. But it’s WONDERFUL that you invest so much in your family!!

    Without Diasporan investment, Nigeria would have collapsed by now. Before covid, it was roughly $30billion remittance. Meanwhile, no-traditional remittances are not accounted for, so the remittances will be in the upwards of $70billion annually.

    • @IveomaMedia
      @IveomaMedia  2 роки тому +1

      Great point about no-traditional remittance not being accounted for!!

    • @therealist2866
      @therealist2866 2 роки тому

      @mr wiper, it is nowhere near $70 billion. Like most other Africa/Nigeria-related data, the current remittance figures are estimates, but they include both formal and informal (non-traditional) remittances.
