Amazing. 👍 We go to the store, choose from products from all over the world & shop without a thought of how complex the industry is. The shipping, rail, trucking, warehouses make life easy for us.
What a massive port. I grew up in Southeastern Houston along the Ship Channel, which is not a small port, but Rotterdam is huge. Houston is all about oil, gas, and chemicals, although it has a couple of pretty good sized container terminals. Nothing compares to the Chinese and other Asian ports for container cargo but still Rotterdam is up there. And it has a lot of oil and chemical terminals too.
@@JeffOnboard I went and looked it up. Houston is an average container port, although the largest on the Gulf Coast. But what it does excel at is that it’s the largest export port in the US by a mile. It’s also huge when you count by tonnage and not TEU. I’ve never been to Asia, although it’s on the list. I was supposed to go for work but that all got blown up by the Pandemic. Not sure when I might get another chance to go on the company dime. I might have to break down and pay for it.
I'm not sure the exact speed but I think just a few knots not very fast. I think at some point in the video you might be able to see the water going by.
@@JeffOnboard Navy , We we’re on the USS INTREPID , I was attached to HS 5 helicopter squadron .spent most of my time on the flight deck. Always enjoy your videos , I can still smell the ocean after all these years haha…..In 69 we were in dry dock across from Norfolk on the Roosevelt . She needed tons of work and retro fit on the catapults and update work on all systems ,she did a tour in Vietnam and was tired .

And the port in Singapore is absolutely huge when the bus takes you back to the ship you get confused where your ship actually is
