This was a very interesting video. As a young lad, my father, sailed on the Belgian training ship, L'Avenir, as a maritime cadet. L'Avenir was a four masted Barque. So it was similar to the France (except for one less mast)... If I remember, L'Avenir was built in 1901.. It sailed under the Belgian flag, then was sold to a German owner who renamed her. She was lost in 1938 carrying grain from Australia. A very sad loss indeed....
