I have one of these! Mine used to belong to Our Lady Peace's old guitar player Mike Turner. He sold it to me back in 2013, still works like a charm, and beats my whammy 5. Love the glitch and weirdness of it compared to the later models.
The V is way better for lots of things and has a MkI mode, so it’s a no brainier. But the glitches in the MkI are really lovable, like a digital puppy of a pedal.
Am I right in thinking that the Whammy setting shouldn't play the dry signal underneath the pitch-shifted note?? Because I thought that what what the harmony mode did, and my model plays the normal note on top of the pitch shifted note even in Whammy mode
There's a 1 octave up / 1 octave down on the harmony setting (very first setting, 11 o'clock) which plays the original note underneath. On the whammy setting (everything in the right column) there's no underlying note. The video reflects this.
Great review!!! I would really like to buy this fantastic pedal...but what are the main differences between WH1 and the others digitech whammy? Given the fact that I mainly play Pink Floyd, what would you suggest? Thanks in advance
I to am looking into getting a whammy. Ive seen regular DTs go for around 120-150. However the WH1 is a vintage so Ive only seen them around the 300 dollar mark. And only going up. David Gilmour did use a WH1 for the song Marooned so I would imagine hed used the same for other songs.
Hi, i got the question about this whammy wh1. i plugged it into an amp with the original power supply, the LED light was indicated. But there's bunch of weird noise appear, like a ground noise, radio noise sth. At the same time, the original power supply start to burn out with smoke. By then i changed the other power supply that comes with my whammy 4 and plug it in, the LED light is still indicated and there's still the noise...what's going on with the issue? Please kindly help...
how is the lag on this, and the sound is it like way digitized? The video sounds a a bit digitized and bubbly when all up of all down.....its good for a strange techy sound but If looking to replace whammy bar with the pedal.....maybe too unnatural!
the Whammy V sounds better ;) Chords mode is totally smooth...you feed it a clean signal and put the Whammy V before dirt, and it pretty much sounds like a natural extension of the guitar. On settings like 2nd Down, it doesn't really sound like you're using a pitch shifter at all--more like a slide!
The glitchy sound in the WH1 can be used in some contexts and complement the music. However, I still prefer the V over the 1. I just don't get why would anyone say that the 1 is better than 5. It is not.....

I saw your comment on the fender video of game of thrones. Very impressive
@@supremeworlok7631 lol you're welcome 😊
@Gupster 23 true, but it still doesn't quite get the same glitch that the whammy 1 does!
this the one both tom morello and the edge like best.
Wow given the date and tech it tracks really quite well

I miss my whammy 1 ! Killer whammy it has something to its sound I like it the most!
Tom Morello
Joe Perry would give you smashin cash for that. He loves the first model.
Is joe perry katy perry's dad?
@@leonruvalcaba1549 No
Dimebag was one of the greatest to use the WH1
Man, if only he could've used a Whammy V...
tom morello did it a lot better in my opinion
Are there other pedals/effects being used or is this all from the whammy pedal?
I thought everything is better than IV, dut WH1 is the truest

+Jerry L I've read a lot about this pedal not having true bypass and just adding extra noise . . .
To Ezra Blumenfeld, issue fixed already. Thanks for the comment

You're looking for a polyphonic shifter like the whammy 5 or ehx slammi models
For replacing the whammy bar, forget it.
This is totally unnatural. People like it for that, not in spite of it. It’s a new sound, not the one of your guitar’s.

I own both and love them both for their completely different tone / feel, but if I had to keep one it would be the original...got some serious mojo!
Dimebags model
wh-1 is the "one"! the others don't exist....
fatter and warmer than the others
