Hi! Thanks for clicking on my video! Sorry to say it’s not really about anything in particular…. Just me having fun in the woods and showing off some new stuff I got. Check out the description box for links to my friends’ channels. I sure appreciate you taking the time to watch, and commenting if you’d like to. Remember to subscribe so I don’t miss ya on the next one! 👍🏻
Thanks for taking us along Chris. The rain sounded good on your tarp. I've had fried squid and love it. It is easy to over cook it. It becomes rubbery. Nice pack. Your videos always seem calming to me. ✌️💛🌞
Hi C Dubs 🤗
@@tracyphillips3325 HI Tracy 🤗
Nice weather to be out in the woods and cooking some food. The rain is soothing.
Hi Chris. I will have to finish tomorrow, bud👍
I have that same pack, bought a few yrs back, mine came with everything, straps and all, it was the last one HW run that year. Plus I love it.
Yep, I'll eat it but won't go out of my way to eat it 😁
Nice pack 👌
Outstanding time there my friend
Interesting meal, great to get out in Nature. Have a great weekend.
Good to hear of the decaf Chris. I can't drink any other because I'm buzzing otherwise. A decent day camp there. Enjoyed that. Mark
As usual an awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Looks like the foliage is popping out up in the Carolina’s 😊
Awesome video
Any Gear From Malcomb Is Top Notch ! Great Woods Meal Shared, Thanks Chris ! ATB T God Bless
He does a good job Terry. I have a couple smaller items, and finally decided to get the backpack. I’m glad I did... it’s very comfortable 👍🏻
I thought you were going to say it tasted like Chicken!
Just something about that little shelter and a good rain that just feels woodsy.
Nice pack Chris!
Thanks Mike! Yep... if I would’ve brought my bigger tarp I probably would’ve taken a nap in the rain!
Nice job out there firing up the stove and cooking up some great grub. But no Texas Pete almost shut it all down and then it rains. Octopus to me was like eating rubber washers 😁😁
Chris. Excellent video thanks
Lunch in the woods HellToTheYeah rain or shine just nice to get out , nice new HiddenWoodsmen Rucksack
Always a great relaxing time with Chris. Cyu on the next one
Definitely an unusual lunch in the woods Chris! I have eaten fried squid, but never had it that way. Thanks for shouting out the meetup! I appreciate it!
Thanks Chris! Looking forward to camping with y’all in June. I’m going to bring my canoe this time.
Another great video I have a couple of Hidden Woodsmen pouches and the quality is top notch. Best wishes!
Wowww.such a amazing video..keep in touch
Squid is good we alway make fried calamari its great. It was a nice day today here in the Low Country of SC in the 80s. Took the Iron Horse out today went for a nice ride through Francis Marion National Forest. Cool video...
I like fried calamari rings and a cold beer, but canned squid chunks and decaf instant coffee isn’t quite the same! 🤣😂🤣
Thanks for the video brother
I never had can squid before but going to look for them. i like squid but it can't over cooked it goes like leather. i got some big squid in the freezer they are going to be hard to cook. that's a cook pack you got there Chris. thanks for taking us along. take care
The piece I ate before I threw it in the pot was a lot better than after I cooked it with the noodles. I like this new backpack. Thanks for watching Wallace! Cheers🥃👍🏻
Nice time out in the woods. That's cool you switched to decaf. I didn't know caffeine catches up to you. Have a nice Memorial day weekend
Aye Chris, nice time in the woods 😊 Thanks for the acknowledgment😊. Take care.
Thx for taking us along. Like the new pack
Appreciate that Michael... I’m liking the new rucksack
Oh yeah nice having everyone's gear out with you nice shirt HellToTheYeah 😊
Always enjoy your videos good content and some are funny
Squid is chewy. Looked very nice. I've been in N.C. for 7 years now. Same # of years as Vermont. I am definitely a lover of snow & dirt roads =)
My brother turned 60 this year. He gets deer in his back yard...& his two new dogs.
If I go to the SW corner of his property I have a 6' wide lane between his two neighbors, walk 30' with Scarf, then make a sharp left for another 30' on the same little lane, then a quarter mile behind
(less desirable houses, have to keep sharp because a number of houses there have deer towers)
then turn right for an acre which puts me on a road that when it turns to dirt, I'm on the back forest of a _beef on the hoof ranch/farm_ ...but if I stay in the woods there they're cool with me & Scarf.
I can hardly hear any traffic! So nice since I'm the first house after the lights intersection of a 5 & 1/2 lane thorough fair x Highway 50. Everybody has to race off the light & shift up right outside my window.
Thanks!
I like fried “calamari”, but this was definitely different. Be careful walking in those areas during deer hunting season!!!
I would pass on the squid, I think. Thank you for taking us along, Chris. Stay safe and stay dry
They weren’t very good... I’ll donate my other can when the Boy Scouts come around for their annual canned food drive. Thanks for watching Sean!
Will Chris that look like a great time and a questionable meal lol. But you are right just sitting in the woods listening to the rain hit the trees is so relaxing. Thank you for bringing us along
..Heya Chris. The woods. & some rain. Heck yeah. That's a great looking pack. how much weight not including water you think your packing? Just wondering. Thanks for the Shout.Out. good video I enjoyed watching.
Thanks James... Without water, 19 pounds... I did weigh it before I left.
It doesn't have to be about anything. Being in the woods..eating..relaxing.
Sweet backpack, looks great! I've never tried squid before. I'll have to give it a shot. Enjoyed this!
Ummmmmmmmm..... I don’t recommend it. Stick with SPAM and Vienna sausages! 🤣😂🤣
That squid can be some chewy stuff. I still find it fun to try things like that, even if it isn't technically a success. Nice looking pack.
The first piece I tried wasn’t that bad... I think I should not have let it boil. Oh well.... maybe some mustard and saltines next time (if there is a next time) I need to try some Eel 😂🤣😂
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors The eel was good. Tasted like sweet smoked salmon and had a good texture. Kind of like if you left the salmon smoking for too long and it got a bit dry and dense. I need to get more.
I am surprised you haven't tried the squid... I know how you love your canned oddities! Love the little Morakniv necker! Thanks for sharing with us!
Hi CCO, I worked for a great a French cuisine chef for awhile and he made some sort of marinade, soaked those squid for 4 days, then a simple light batter and a quick deep fry. Only time I’ve ever had those things and enjoyed them. Was delicious. Anyways, thanks for the video. My knees got sore just watching 🙂🐕🦺👍🏻
HA! It takes me a day to recover from making a UA-cam video!!!! 🤣😂🤣 I still have all my original bones and joints and they get sore a lot easier than they used to. I’ve had fried calamari in restaurants and I actually like that. I messed up by letting them boil I think. Thanks for watching Carl!👍🏻
Let’s Go ! 🤗
Chris I have that same little case I made into a pocket Fire kit 🔥
That striker fir perfectly 👍🏻
I am sure looking forward to Spring Meet up and seeing everyone, ALWAYS SUCH A GOOD TIME 🤗
I ain’t so sure about squid 🦑🥴
Well tuna doesn’t sound bad I guess 🤔
I got the same experiment going on ☕️ interesting findings you shared 🤔
NO WAY !!! I Can’t believe it either 😳
Way to be prepared 🙌🏻
I think I will pass on Squid completely 😝
Lol! Gotta new little friend I see 😂
Ooohhhh 😍 I sure wouldn’t mind to enjoy that little maple 🍁 goodie 😋
As ALWAYS Chris awesome hanging out in the woods with ya 👍🏻
Best notification I’ve got in a while! New Carolina Chris video 👍🏼 enjoyed it brother!
Great video my friend! Loved it!
Thanks a lot!
You had me at rain
I love the Kentucky Woodsman channel.
Not sure about that lunch 😁 OMG!! No Texas Pete 😳😳. I can’t believe you forgot that.
I really like your backpack. Been looking into something like that.
Thanks Jason... I almost scrapped the whole video since I didn’t have my Texas Pete... 🤣 It definitely would’ve made my lunch a lot better, that’s for sure!!!
Like number 127 my friend. I like tuna noodles 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🇺🇸
Remember Bro, legends were born in "63"
Good video man. I'm with you on the squid. Only had it once didn't care for it. Loved the new pack, looks like a good one. Thumbs up video ~John
Thanks John! ‘63 💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey brother, another relaxing video. I really like being in the woods in the rain and In the snow. Both seem to make it extra peaceful, although I like to be in the woods anytime! Hey that area your in looks a lot like the “low country” , even the stream you crossed. Thanks for bringing us along! 🤠
I like that spot. Lots of ferns and not too many briars. I wish that creek flowed all the time, but is really just a big ol’ ditch that trickles for a few days after it rains... I’m in the upstate... not too far from Greenville.
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors very nice my brother. It looks a lot like the low country. The upstate is my favorite part of the state though, anywhere around Greenville is good. I do like the downtown area, for a down town area if that makes sense, but I’m more talking outside of the big cities of course. I’ve got a small spot up in that area that I camp on, hope to show it one day on this channel soon.
@@357.SwampFox -👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Chris, nice to see another video from you. Nice gifts. I like that little Morakniv neck knife, I don't recall ever seeing that style before. I've had calamari at a restaurant before, it was battered and deep fried I guess and served with cocktail sauce to dip it in. I really liked it. Haven't had it in a long time though. Nice pack, at least that model has somewhere to hang your hatchet or axe. I was about to get the Hidden Woodsmen Tropical Ruck (I think that's what it's called) looks just like a medium Alice pack. But it was a deal breaker when I found out the outside pockets didn't have pass throughs behind them. to carry an axe, hatchet or machete .Really bummed me out. I just turned 60 last October. I still need my caffeine, but I only have about 2 cups a day and about 3 on the weekends. Decaf would be like peeing in the wind or canoeing without a paddle, for me. 😆☕
Tried baby octopus at a seafood buffet and it wasn't my cup of tea , but I like canned sardines , herring and oysters so it's just what tickles your taste buds I guess. Nice cookout in the rainy woods . Sounded good on the tarp . Nice new gear . Thanks for the vid, enjoyed .
Thanks Greg! I like sardines and oysters too but I won’t be eating these again unless it’s an emergency! 😂
I wish I had more vacation time so I could go to some of those meet ups. My new job I only get 10 days but spend that with the wife. My old job I could take off anytime I wanted, I wouldn't get paid but I didn't mind.
I allergic to quid, if I touch it, my hands just breakout and itch like crazy. I heard someone's base in the background.
I got vent shades on my truck, I need to put some on my CX 5. Thanks for sharing.
What a fantastic lunch, Chris. Way to make the best of a rainy day!!
Man you sure have some nice woods to be walking through. I can remember running into those webs.
It takes a lot of work to keep my paths clear but I’m lucky to have permission to “play” there! 😁👍🏻
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors lucky you 👍
I got to give you credit and toughening it out there in the rain. Interesting choice of food for sure but this is CAROLINA CHRIS. I was thinking you would do great on alone. How is your son doing, say hi for me please. I’m very sorry, what is his name again. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Thanks Tony! I don’t think I’d do well an Alone... I’d be fine sleeping and I know I could catch or trap some food, but I’m addicted to Diet Pepsi and Cheetos 😂 Owen is my son, and he is doing well.... thanks for asking about him. 👍🏻
You struck that fire up smooth as butter brother, nice job! Definitely some nice new tools you got, pretty awesome of them. I’ve ate it fried up but man never like that lol.. definitely different! I feel your pain with the caffeine, I stopped drinking soda with the sugar and caffeine a few months ago and after drinking 6-7 cans of the Dew every day for as long as I can think you sure don’t realize how you get addicted to it. Looked like a great day out there brother even if it was little rainy.
Fried squid is definitely the way to go..... I used to “Do The Dew” too, but now I’m a Diet Pepsi guy... I am very fortunate to have some really good UA-cam buddies!!! 👍🏻
Solid video. Great content for the community. I also have had some windows down bail outs haha
Thanks for watching Mathew. Luckily, my truck didn’t get too wet inside... another day like today and it’ll be completely dry... it got hot this afternoon
I once had lobster in the woods. It hit the spot but wasn't enough. I'll have to bring noodules and hot chocolate next time.
Make a dash, when the rain lets up. Hope your truck seat isn't to wet.
mmmmm .. rubber bands soaked in fish oil hahaha Tried it once.. BUT if I was hungry !!!!!
I really like rice noodles but I've only seen the bigger packages. I'll have to look closer
I don’t believe I’ll be buying that anymore.... Vienna sausages, sardines and SPAM from now on! 🤣😂🤣
I'm still hoping to make the meet-up. Got my Vac request turned in. I like the wooden handled Mora, that was really nice. Like the new pack also. Looks really sturdy. I don't have any of his gear, but hear nothing but good stuff about it. Good luck with the caffeine reduction. I haven't heard about long term caffeine intake, gonna have to look that up. I'm just a couple years behind ya. Ever since I was young, I knew I always wanted to smoke, and drink black coffee. I guess it was all the GI and Cowboy movies my dad watched...... Gave up the smoking prob 10 years ago, but I am right there with ya on 4-6 cups a day of coffee. What!? no Texas Pete! I have never seen you miss out on a dash. This is getting written down 😄😄. Interesting lunch. Have never tried squid.
Good seeing ya out again Chris!
Doing without Texas Pete is definitely harder than no caffeine or not smoking! 😂🤣😂 Hope to see you in June!
I'm a T.P. fan too, I can imagine the separation anxiety it musta caused.
I’m just now returning to a somewhat normal state of mind.... it was a traumatic experience, for sure!
Wahoo!!!!
Hidden Woodsman, nice never heard.
We are right with you Chris ❤️
Uh-ohh 🌧
Love the kickstand on the pack
Stump soda time???
On Safari with Calamari. Was it squid, cuttlefish or octopus? I was confused because you were calling it squid and then octopus. Maybe something like that would go good on a cracker . I can’t believe you didn’t have Texas Pete’s. Good to see you out. It’s always interesting to see what you’re going to cook up.
Hi Mark... it was squid. My Calamari Safari lunch was ok, but it would’ve been better with Texas Pete. I think I should not have cooked it at all. Hot sauce and a saltine cracker definitely would be the way to go next time! Thanks for watching!!!
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors I think I did a video on calamari rings. I like to marinate them overnight in teriyaki and cook them on the grill. They can go from tender to rubbery really fast.
I will take your word on the squid I am sure you can get the maple candy i have never looked for it . I have always been involved working around sugaring operations and as part of your pay you have syrup. Growing up my father had a small sugaring operation and then i was involved with another person for many years nights and weekends. I have trucked sap for the huge producers . At present time i am not going to work for some else any more. I hit 65 last year and started ss and with my pension plan things are not bad. I ahave many things i want to do and if your 60you know your not 20 anymore. Wise choice cutting back on the caffeine there are not the choices for coffee but there are some pretty fair teas out there and some leaves make some good hot drinks also raspberry leaves are one
Octopus or squid don't know if there's much difference. No Texas Pete, your meal is incomplete. Need to try some eel, it's not that bad. Like the new pack. I might need to slack off on the caffeine. I'm a year older than you. So maybe it's time, to go caffeine free. Great video Chris. Take care.
HA! It was kinda chewy, that’s for sure! I’m sure it would’ve been better if I could’ve made it “complete”. As far as the caffeine thing goes, I think I’ll probably have a cup of “leaded” first thing, then decaf the rest of the morning from now on. I never would’ve thought you were older than me! I thought you were 49! 😄👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@CarolinaChrisOutdoors , thanks for the kind words. But it's just wishful thinking 🤔. 49 was a long time ago. 🤝
Is there, was there a reason for the switch to Decaf?
I’m kind of doing an experiment... I was starting to have morning time “digestive” issues (more than the regular morning time routine)... I know I drink too much coffee. Drinking the decaf has totally eliminated my morning issues, and I fall asleep a lot easier at night too. Although I’m not suffering from any heart related (as far as I know) issues, I’ve heard too much caffeine can negatively impact heart health.... I just wanted to try the decaf thing for a month to see how I feel.
I see ferns behind you, are there any fiddleheads around?
I’m sure there are, but as far as I know, we don’t have the edible ones like are found up north.... they are pretty to look at though! 👍🏻
That is a niceeee pack. Why is hot sauce so popular in some areas of the USA?
My favorite hot sauce (Texas Pete) isn’t really very hot at all. It is a bit spicy but it really enhances the flavor of food. People who use it don’t use a lot of salt and pepper. I rarely use salt, pepper or ketchup on my food. Some brands are very hot... I don’t care for those. I’m loving my new pack! Thanks for watching!!! 👍🏻
🤔 I suppose you can’t always add chicken to a noodle lunch. You know what they say about variety. 😂
Squid is something you need to cook for 30 seconds or 30 minutes, anytime in between is rubber.
At least you tried it out for us.
Thanks, Chris!
Maybe “Chicken of the Sea”.... but not rubberized tentacle pieces, that’s for sure! 😂🤣😂
Thank goodness for M&Ms .
And maple 🍁 🌰 goodies .
You got that right!
Squid is tricky to cook. You gotta undercook it but once you over cook it, you gotta just keep going.
squid never had it but ill guess its alot like octopus . ive had that its like eating rubber . only way i like that is with bbqed rib bits . but hey it was fun watching you . hey maybe try a cheese burger . lol . good to see ya brother .
First !
Hey Chris, are you okay my friend? I'm very concerned about you after watching this video. 😉 Decaf coffee, and no Texas Pete.....very concerning......I think you need an intervention. 🤣 Yes I hear caffeine is not great for you. I don't drink coffee but I really drink a lot of tea...some would say too much. I'll worry about that later but first I'll have a cup of tea. and think about it.... I only have 8 to 10 cups a day. But i'm only 57. Very cool gifts from your buddies. Cooking lunch on a fire is always awesome. Squid is hard to cook right. Very easy to over cook it. I like squid rings, just like onion rings only with squid. A little rain never hurts but too bad you left the window open. Chris I think I'm going to try to get to the Kentucky spring meet up next year. I'm planning to drive across Canada from west to east so maybe I will go west through the U.S. and then go from west to east across Canada. I may just drive to Kentucky and back as a trial run of my bigger plan. We will see. I said for a while now that I would like to get back down to Kentucky. I must go boil the kettle 😉......Take care, Mike
The decaf was on purpose but eating a meal with no Texas Pete was a dreadful experience. Switching my gear over to the new pack will take a couple outings before I get it all back to normal...
I hope you can make it back down!!!!!
(I haven’t forgotten about your Canteen Cup lid... I still have it. Promise to send it soon!)
Hey Chris. Somehow I was unsubbed to you? I can assure not my doing. Love the sound of rain on the tarp. Creeping up on 60 huh? I ain't far behind you. I like squid in a tin. I think it's first on a bushcraft channel. I think if you try just adding it at the end it would be a 7 instead of a 5. Peace.
Yep... I actually tried the squid again. It’s a lot better NOT cooked.... I just dumped it in after I took it off of the heat to get warm. Solid 7.5. Thanks for the “re-sub” 😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
1st!😉... Er...3rd???🙄
Hey bud! Glad you enjoyed your Nut Goodie.👍🏻. Glad to see ya getting out. We are currently receiving our 4th Winter up here after 3 days of 80s. Only received a couple of inches where there's around us were getting 12-24 inches of the white stuff! Catch ya on the next one.
You need caffiene..no Texas pete..left your window open..NO cook pot. Seriously..are you ok?
The biggest thing I missed was the Texas Pete! 😂
@CarolinaChrisOutdoors lol. Definitely not normal for you. Stay safe.
