The creator of Plants vs. Zombies was fired by ElectronicArts for refusing to add microtransactions to the next game. What could they create after that?...
As a games art and animation student, I could literally cry thinking about how much time and effort went into making every model, animating it, adding the nodes, coding, vfx etc to making a fully functioning level. This isn’t much but thank you for making an amazing fan level of one of my favourite childhood games 💜
This is awesome man, incredible remake of a nostalgic game for many people. Keep this up and you’ll blow up in no time, can’t wait to see what’s next and follow along with you
The best fan remake I've ever seen... I propose an update: Once all the front lawn rows are available, the backyard rows start rolling out. Defending both the front and back lawn simultaneously could be very hectic and fun. The pool becoming available could be a tarp being unrolled from on top of it instead of grass rolling out. The aimable plants on the roof could fire on either lawn
i suggested to add the pult plant if there is ever an update aiming peashooter would still have a purpose of saving sun but no longer be forced to be used on the roof
Holy shit this is amazing. This is what happens when a remake is born from passion instead of greed. The gaming industry at large could learn a lot from you, good sir.
I don't mind greed as long as the price pays. PVZ can't even have a "pay to block ads". I would pay subscriptions just for the comfort. Make it the same as UA-cam premium and I won't Care.
@@bmo3778 greed isn't the same as wanting to earn money with a product. This is art. Even if the goal was not to complete the 3d game, the learning process must've been fun. I've tried blender for a bit and had some fun with it. So I can only imagine how difficult (or just a grind for that matter) it must've been at times
well, everything I wanted to say was already in the comment feed. what a brilliant work. also, the yt video itself was masterfully put together. you are very talented indeed. congratulations.
The way you can incorporate the video edits into the gameplay itself is so insane, if there wasn't a playable version I would've thought this whole thing was a blender project
This is AMAZING! I was just expecting one video about a lifeless 3D remake of PvZ, like other dev channels, but you REALLY did make up for the name of the video, this is radical reimagination of Plants Vs Zombies, you did a great job, hope that you continue this project! 🎉
The funniest thing is, putting aside modeling the new plants and any new zombies, you could very easily make the night, pool, and fog settings with very little else: - Night stage you've already done with the day/night cycle you've implemented - Pool and Fog could have the middle three rows replaced with a water texture, to match the 2-2-2 ratio of the original - Fog could have the fog effect you already implemented moved over the play area Now that being said, I know that the plants and zombies are DEFINITELY the hardest part of actually completely re-creating the game. I just thought I'd remark how relatively simple it'd be to make the backdrops to each stage.
That was a phenomenal video. The editing was one point with the nice b-roll shots, music changing every minute, sound effects, and some other neat stuff going on. Good job!
If he’s going to create updates versions of this - I think making use of the 3D space by making the player fight the pool level from behind and the roof levels at the same time from the side be AWESOME
Then to wrap it all off, add fog when it turns night on the pool side, unlock the rest of the plants via wave progression, and a final 3 waves of it panning to the roof, where the catapults make their debut (albeit without the flower pot) to throw their projectiles over the other side of the roof. Of course add dr zomboss and his zombot.
Update idea: you should add a roguelike mechanic and bosses so if you kill a boss you would get a permanent upgrade or a new plant until the end of the run
Other game devs on UA-cam have done their versions of 3D PvZ, but this is undeniable the best interpretation. 3D but it’s graphical gorgeous (and not just the typical stock 3D assets and RTX on treatment), and it’s faithful to the original game’s look and style. And on top of that it also adds new gameplay elements?!? Its what a true remake should be: updated with better graphics and engine, but different enough from the originals to actually want to play the game again. Absolutely brilliant!

I said it before but i will say it again: Is impressive how you just started as a youtuber but your (only 2) videos have more quality than 98% of youtube videos nowadays 🤙
Instead a peashooters for the rooftop, you could easily implement the corn and melon launchers. Due to them firing in an arc, you don't need to aim them.
4:55 - 5:02 HOLD THE LINE, BROTHERS! The graveyard idea is fantastic and has the potential to double the gameplay. I feel like you should explore it more. I am definitely subscribing!
i adore pvz1, and seeing it faithfully remastered with the original cast of plants, zombies complete with the good ol lawn and an added graveyard is incredible but the best part of this for me has to be that peashooter is the one given a special aiming ability which highly pleases me because hes just my favorite plant (i would use him over plants whenever i played pvz even if it was considered "suboptimal" just because i liked him so much)
This is really well made, it definitely is *very* well polished in the visual aspect and has some very good sound design and is a very good recreation of the original. I'd like to suggest having the rest of the plants or zombies, given that I've found this video six months after its release.
Your motion graphics in this video were top notch dude. Very well presented. I liked the Metroid video, but this new one portrays you as a professional.

True and since they fire at the roof you can set tragetings for them like an mortar with a fix targeting on one plot
aiming is based tho

Bro this guy's is amazing!
the editing is really good and everything you showcase looks amazing
4:55 - 5:02 HOLD THE LINE, BROTHERS!
The graveyard idea is fantastic and has the potential to double the gameplay. I feel like you should explore it more.
I am definitely subscribing!
i adore pvz1, and seeing it faithfully remastered with the original cast of plants, zombies complete with the good ol lawn and an added graveyard is incredible
but the best part of this for me has to be that peashooter is the one given a special aiming ability which highly pleases me because hes just my favorite plant (i would use him over plants whenever i played pvz even if it was considered "suboptimal" just because i liked him so much)
This is probably the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while, everything looks so good. I grew up playing this game, the nostalgia hit hard.
Love the SFX in your video man, great edit!
This is really well made, it definitely is *very* well polished in the visual aspect and has some very good sound design and is a very good recreation of the original.
I'd like to suggest having the rest of the plants or zombies, given that I've found this video six months after its release.
This is awesome. This is probably going to blow up!
Your motion graphics in this video were top notch dude. Very well presented. I liked the Metroid video, but this new one portrays you as a professional.
Bro u earned a new sub. KEEP UP UR WORK 😊❤
How dare you make it look so good. I can't believe this is an actual game and not an animation, outstanding work
I came with the mindset that it's better to leave the masterpiece of a game alone but the amount is effort and love put into the making of this remake and the video is absolutely excellent and incredible. A very well done remake with amazing video. 💛
As a little UA-camr and Unreal Dev myself i have to admit im very impressed by your Videos Quality and Style and what you managed to achive in UE5. Already exited to play the game , and i hope you work a bit more on it.
Props!!
To everyone asking what it's called, it's called Foliage vs. Undead, it's a PC-only game, and the download is in the description of the video.
Bro that is a lot of dedication right there
You are the most dedicated game developer that I have ever seen
You seriously deserve a raise 👏
I can't wait to play it
Keep going
Don't overload yourself and don't destroy your health
Health Is more important then anything
a channel with 2 videos with very good results, I really love the effort you put into making the video apart from making remakes, I hope you can have the recognition you deserve, a new sub reporting here
Miss this first game a lot, my friend and I fell in love with it on our 360’s almost ten years ago. If they did a remake I’d be all over it! Props to you sir!
You are a legend, this is so inspiring and nostalgic, thanks for this masterpiece
I love you man. I loved this game when it came out and its a big part of my childhood. You really did it justice. I wouldve preffered this style of game over the Sequel tbh. Great work, keep it up!
Amazing work! EA should hire you!
Sabes que ver todas las donaciones y no sentirse tan agradecido con ello causa mucha fatiga mental no?
Aun asi no se mucho sobre ello, pero una donación es una donación, bien por eso👍
❤☺️☺️
Ea doesnt deserve him
@@Braian9887opinion raro te lo hubieras quedado
EA don't have a chance to hire him lol
Bro, I would reallly appreciate it if you live stream your process on Twitch or UA-cam.
The way you create such beautiful models, and your thinking process is something that deserves to be seen by thousands live
Just played for a couple of hours with my kids. You have done an exceptional job.
Absolute loving the 3d remake you did, just so good.
With the increased row size, I imagine new plants that are 2x2 squares big. That could be interesting.
The entire creation process looks so beautiful I especially liked when the lawn rolled out.
Dude, this is seriously fucking cool. Love the insight into every aspect of your development process, and hats off to you for replicating every minute detail that was present in the original. Very rarely do you see remakes capture the charm seen in the original, and you nailed it. Feels super personal and well thought out, and you deserve so much more attention for your work. Subbed.
Wow, you ACTUALLY understand what makes PvZ, well... PvZ! There wasn't just effort, but also passion put into this recreation, and damn is it amazing! I hope to see more of your content in the future, great job!
This was so well done! I’m glad I saw it on my feed!
