  • HOI4 Beginners Tutorial Ep3 - Today we'll focus on controlling our military during conflicts, as well as supply. Supplies are vital, not just fuel, but ammo, reinforcements and replacing equipment lost due to attrition. Joining Germany in 1939 - we will once again attack Poland, but with a focus on WHAT is actually happening on a step-by-step, click-by-click basis, rather than the wider war itself (aka more micro, less macro).

    Late to this party but I’ve come from other strategy games and was struggling to get to grips with HOI4. This is an excellent resource to get going with battles, just the right amount of detail 👍

    This game caught my attention because i was looking to fill a ww2 gap in my games. I had seen it in videos by a few other people but had shied away from it because of the menu and the complexity of the game. BUT then i found your tutorials watched them thru and convinced me to buy it and play. I have had hoi4 for a few days now.... everything that was keeping buying & playing it before was put away by your tutorials. Thank you....I'm finding hours of fun in hoi4.

    Amazing how simple you make an INCREDIBLY HARD game seem easy. Was nearly giving up out of pure frustration but will persevere and keep watching......GREAT JOB.

      The game has an atrocious tutorial, that killed any momentum I had in playing it. Just got very tired and bored with the lack of explanation of anything, lack of overview, links to the guide not working, just bad all around. After watching hours of these tutorials, I now feel like I'm ready to try the game's tutorial again.

    Awesome mini-series! Binge watched each one as a brand new HoI4 player. On the infantry equipment, troops vs “guns”, thing - I reckon each soldier has a gun. Inf equipment is perhaps specialist equipment for infantry, like, machine guns, bazookas etc

    Love the first two videos they have been so incredibly helpful and I can’t wait to fully dive into this one. Looked through a lot of channels and tutorial videos to find something exactly like this thanks for all the help. I’m sure there’s not a huge request for it but if you made a video with a full dlc game explaining the differences that would be insane! Thanks again for all the effort you put in.

    Thanks a lot for the multiple tutorials! This was great I managed to do most of it and I feel more confident playing now! One weird thing though is that once I invaded Netherlands then Belgium I realized that I was not at war with France because France was guaranteeing Poland and thus I was only in was with UK. I made a war goal in France which I invaded but then I did not get the Vichy France option and I just shared everything with Italy in a conference. Any idea why that happened ?

    5:01 you mention that FM Model only has a 3 on attack...does that include the +1 Attack from "Brilliant Strategist" in his background skills?

    As I watch these great tutorials, and I feel like I'm getting used to the interface and mechanics, I'm realizing I tend to have a very different play style (in these TYPES of games) compared to what is shown here. I always prefer to have everything set up to as close to 100 as you can get, take things slow, plan ahead for supply lines, etc. take breaks between wars to recover the army and build up infrastructure before next attack. Etc. This style is quite different in this tutorial, much more "you'll never be at 100%", much more,"lets just throw a few guys over here". Is it because the way I typically play just doesn't work in this game, or is this just this creator's style? Or is it specific to whatever country you decide to start with?

      @gameswithbrains  4 місяці тому

      Ok I started playing like you, wait to build up stuff to be like the most ready it possibly can be... The problem is that the longer you wait, the more time the enemy has to prepare as well.
      To the best of my knowledge (and using cheats to test things) the enemy/AI appears to play the game "properly" - so it is using the same tools and mechanics that are available to the player. Sometimes it makes silly mistakes, and keeps on making them, but generally it does ok. So if you give your guys an extra couple weeks to plan their attacks, absolutely you will benefit from increased planning bonuses, but the enemy will also gain entrenchment bonuses etc. Talking weeks into months, the enemy will get new equipment, and constantly update their own divisions, meaning they ALWAYS get stronger with time.

    This is a great episode. Thank you. I play the game without any DLC and like to see games without it.
    Edit: It would be helpful if you could name the DLCs or "add-ons" you are mentioning along the way. Otherwise I don't see the point in mentioning them at all. I mean "Oops I cannot block areas for my convoys. There is an add-on for that, but I don't bother to tell you which one it is" made me leave right away and remove my like.

    Each infantry equipment has 10 units, that is why there are 900 per 9,000! 😉

    As someone from Czech Republic, I always get an eye twitch each time you call slovakia Czech Republic xD It was part of Czechoslovakia, but after the split, It's Czech Republic and Slovakia.

      I'm terrible with names, pronunciations, even in my native language. A friend I have from Czech Republic, often complains about "why so many people getting our country's name wrong" and I can only really speak for myself. I suck at geography, and when which country became created, balkanised, renamed, had borders redrawn - hopefully most people know what i'm on about, and gimma a pass for it not being the focus of the video
