Yea parole, as well as probation, is basically designed for recidivism.
I remember getting out and being in the halfway house on 39th and Grand (4 C's) in the mid 90's. I'd have to meet with one of the onsite parole officers from time to time. We were in his office talking and he could tell by my demeanor that I wasn't intimidated by him - not disrespectful but not intimidated. He told me one day, _"If I sent you back to prison you wouldn't care, would you ?"_ because I wasn't there on some kiss-azz time when someone has that kind of power over you.
It's a messed up feeling to be reduced to fake smiles and laughter to stroke an insecure muhfukaz ego. Personally I wasn't having it at the time. Sh*t, a few months prior I'd just turned 21 on the one-yard at San Quentin.
