I’ve had a bottle of this stuff for no joke, 10 years. Still works. Honestly use it in small amounts, wipe the tire down with a rag after and it will last MONTHS!
I use this all the time. I pour a little at a time into a separate container then use a cheap-o paint bush to apply then give about 10 -15 minutes to dry. This way nothing gets on the wheels and nothing gets on the car's paint...no splatter...no mess! BTW...a lady turned me on to applying any tire dressing with a paint brush.
A word to the wise. Ive used this product for years before watching this very instructive video. After cleaning and application, do not drive the car for a while. Let it sit for at least an hour to promote bonding and as a result no slinging. I did my wife's Tesla Y and it had been sitting for about 20 minutes before she took it to run errands. I checked the side walls and there ws no stickiness, None and they looked slick. So keep this in mind. Put your finger on the side walls to see if there is any stickiness. Then if there is either wipe the tire off with a clean cloth or just let it sit some more. I do like this product. The tires look shiny and slick for weeks. Not months. Then just reapply after washing.
to the best of my limited knowledge, the "fins" you refer to on the wall is to increase surface area for heat loss, thus reducing the risk of tyre wall cracking and splitting. A smooth wall not only retains heat created during use, but also when in direct sunlight, prematurely aging the tyre. Sipes are thin cuts in tread blocks, allowing the blocks to flex, thus maximising tread contact area. Most manufactures are now reducing the amount of sips, as tyre tread design and rubber cconfiguratrion has improved greatly.
The lines on the side are just for decoration, the sipeing is the small lines cut in the tread blocks, those allow the blocks to flex and maintain better traction.
Nice video again, Scott. BTW, tyre sipes refer to the deliberately made cuts on the tyre treads. Their purpose is to increase wet, snow and ice traction by creating extra ridges to bite into the drive surface as the tyre tread block flexes under load. However, they do reduce tread stiffness, hence their absence on tyres that emphasize on road handling. Those ridges on the sidewall are meant for decoration and masking scuff marks, similar to the graining on plastic interior panels.

Patent leather came to mind after my first use, then the slinging aspect as noted by many, but I hung in there and allowed the formula a time to settle on the tires. I haven't really noticed this slinging tendency and the patent leather look has mellowed somewhat, as I have. I do know that it is preferable to no dressing at all, and better than most. Since I have almost a full bottle left, I will slowly use it until empty and then consider my next step. Who knows, maybe brown and dirty tires will become sexy, and the norm we start striving for. If you use this for your tires, you may want to consider cleaning your tires before taking them in for maintenance such as, rotations, or brake jobs. You could find this stuff inside your car where it should not be. Also consider that if you use this stuff and you need your tire repaired, you might run into a tire repairman who doesn't want to deal with a tire that feels slippery like a slick pig and will want to sell you a new tire instead.

Are tyre dressers only to be applied to the SIDE WALLS ? I have seen some detailers apply it to the full tyre as in even the head which contacts the road and inside side wall ... is that advisable ??
Hey Scott you probably won't see this but just curious how long does it take you to do a full detail on a car? Say a sedan clay, compound, polish, wax, interior? Your so detailed on everything wish you were in NY
Been looking for a good product to restore and bring back the deep black color of plastic body trim. I tried products designed for this purpose but have been unhappy with the way they look and last. I accidentally got some Meguiars Endurance Gel on the lower black panel on my Outback and after wiping it off I noticed it stayed on the panel and gave it a dark and shiny finish. I used it on just one panel and after 2 weeks the panel still looked great. Did the rest of the panels and I can't believe that the Endurance Tire gel has lasted longer and looks better than any of the products designed to restore black body trim, including Meguiars products. Maybe you can do a video on using Endurance Gel on black plastic trim
Try Meguiars Black plastic trim restorer, in the aerosol can. Really tape everything up, and wipe any overspray off if it's on anything that isn't the plastic immediately. Do a few coats. Make sure it gets 24 hours to cure before it sees rain. It turned dull gray plastic back to a somewhat shiny black and made it bead water really well, doesn't run or anything. I go over the trim I've done with this with some spray wax or paint sealant that can be used on trim, and it kind of locks in the product and shine and it will last and last. Been 4 months and the trim still looks like the day I applied the product.
I liked the dressing but I have little Pirelli's for my Abarth and it's super difficult to remove the excess, especially in the grooves. Using spray is worse because the tires are so thin. What would be the best tire shine for little tires?
Excellent stuff this is. A bottle will last anyone YEARS (unless you wash your car everyday). It keeps your tires looking black for a good few weeks as well (weather dependent).
Their tire gel is ok, I prefer Turtle Wax jet black because it actually lasts in dry weather, mine usually last about 2-3 weeks also pending on weather because it will wear off with rain later
I love to look & longevity you get with Endurance. But what a PITA to get it washed off. My Michelins look very similar to yours. Those sidewalls are a challenge for me to not leave excess products. I need to revisit hyper dressing.
I don't meant to doubt what you say, but please correct me if I'm wrong.... But dressings are either water or solvent based. Both can have silicones in them. There are no silicone based. How do you clean your applicators and towels that you use on your tires? I would assume you don't ever mix those applicators and those specific microfiber towels with other towels that you would use on the rest of the vehicle. I would love to see a video on how you clean all of these items.
I usually use either "polishing pad cleaner" or microfiber wash concentrate. You can also use Dawn dishwashing liquid as well. If it's good enough to clean oil off baby ducks and not hurt them, it's good enough to clean my tire applicators lol.
I use (cover all), you can find it at O'Reilly's auto parts, its the best stuff out on the market, and its around $10 bucks. That tire gel, I've used that stuff, and its good, but like he said, it slings on your vehicle.
The tire siphening or however it's spelled. I believe it's there for traction purposes, well atleast thats my idea behind it. Helps with side wall traction?
TheMichael408 I use a very thick and stiff brush to highly scrub the tyre i also use a strong apc/degreaser and this gets my tyres upto a great standard
It helps with water "sheding" or "displacement" and it also helps to keep the tires somewhat "cooler" during driving and when the tire expands due to heat buildup while driving. I really enjoy the videos ad the honesty on product reviews and also the detail explanation that you do during your videos. Keep up the outstanding work. From a retired U.S. Navy Special Operations Veteran.
I'd like to know as well. This product is a bit high maintenance. It gets very hot in the Summer. I've zero interest in "spot wiping" whenever the product begins to melt ---> sling.

Have you ever used lemon pledge on detailing the interior of the vehicles. I have a cousin who use it on his old classic vehicles. I thought it would dry out the material of the vehicle.
I've done it as a joke. I've used it on tires compared to water based tire dressing, the pledge got greasy and dirt stuck to it. On the interior, it looked alright for a few days then it discolored the dash I used it on (a Chevy Blazer), made the tan dashboard turn a hazy white color where the pledge was applied. Removed it with APC, left a discolored patch that was somewhat noticeable. There's no point in using it, imo. There's much better products out there that are designed for interiors that work much better.

YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE how does something on the sidewall.. which never touches the roads surface, help with traction?!
If it does it would think it's from allowing the tire's wall to flex better as the tire makes contact with the road, thus increasing surface contact.
I work at Bridgestone. The sidewall indentations, grooves etc., are mostly cosmetic.

I usually use either "polishing pad cleaner" or microfiber wash concentrate. You can also use Dawn dishwashing liquid as well. If it's good enough to clean oil off baby ducks and not hurt them, it's good enough to clean my tire applicators lol.
Going with a blue applicator is like a pro golfer going with blades :)
If this isn't the main product you use, what do you recommend?
I use (cover all), you can find it at O'Reilly's auto parts, its the best stuff out on the market, and its around $10 bucks. That tire gel, I've used that stuff, and its good, but like he said, it slings on your vehicle.
Those groves on the tire are being used more and more because that prevents water and tire shine to slip off the tire
what is the best water based shine?
Water based tire dressing picks up dirt too.
The tire siphening or however it's spelled. I believe it's there for traction purposes, well atleast thats my idea behind it. Helps with side wall traction?
Yes traction, disperses water while moving on a wet surface such as water or snow.
I never have a sling problem. I got a foam applier and I jus make sure I rub that bitch in real good. U gotta take ur time
Thank you!
Good shit man! Thanks
Have you tried eagle one tire shine as a review? I’ve used it
That mug tho. Lol
@@truejey7475 LOL
Thanks Scott!
Smells delicious too!! Just doesn't taste like grapes :(
Where do u get the microfiber applicators?
walmart or a dollor store:)...about 50cents a piece and you can wash them
Love this video! Thank you Scott!
Grooves help tire cooling.
What do you suggest for cleaning my tire and wheel cleaning brushes after I use em?
TheMichael408 I use a very thick and stiff brush to highly scrub the tyre i also use a strong apc/degreaser and this gets my tyres upto a great standard
Have to wipe that stuff in. Also you don't need much. Less is more.
I'm pretty sure tire siping is to improve traction in wet conditions....I watched how it's made on tires
yes siping when found on the treads is for traction...but on the sidewall its for a different purpose
TG Cooper not to keep the sound down?
Is that on a professional level? 😁 😁 😁
Which water based tire gel/shiner will you recommend ?
I'd like to know as well. This product is a bit high maintenance. It gets very hot in the Summer. I've zero interest in "spot wiping" whenever the product begins to melt ---> sling.
Have u ever tried baby oil...or suntan oil...?
actually I have..lol..it brings on ants and things stick to the tire
The problem with this product is when you drive you can see a little bit of this on the paint of the car.
Someone have a idea to prevent that?
After you apply it, wipe excess with a microfiber cloth. Even after few days later.. if is hot like here in Dallas.. I wipe the tires again.
that's purple over here in uk
SUPRAGZAEROTOP it's purple in the US too but occasionally you see a red bottle in the shelves.
1221Ralph strange that! autoglym have just released theyre own tyre gel that was developed with emdurance gel in mind, and strangely enough the autoglym product is red! makes you wonder
I've used that product for many years on plastic and tires and it's never turned my tires brown 🤔
Will the paint prep do the same job as the IPA
I love this stuff but that is because it rains a lot around here.
I use mostly water based tire gel.
