Thanks, Chris. Similar sound to my Martin Custom Shop 0000-28e with Engelmann Spruce top & EI Rosewood, but not as much oomph as mine. Also, mine has a pick guard engraved with 2 rose buds that my wife liked.
I've AB'd this next to the 00028 EC and the OM 28. The OMJM has a great presence and more color to the notes. It does top out though compared to the other two listed due to the Engalmann spruce. It is a very nice OM, I enjoyed it more than the OM 28.
Hey Chris. Great demo, as always. Thank you for giving us a heads as to what details we should be listening for. I definitely noticed the enhanced sustain. What are your thoughts on the simple dovetail?
I used the own the OMJM. It is really different from a regular spruce / rosewood OM. the englemann is very sweet indeed, has a lot of harmonics, but it will overdrive quite easily when strummed, which is the reason why after a few years I had to sell it. As for this 20 years re issue it's a bit of a joke honestly, they had years to plan a way to commerate and instead of taking the occasion to offer something more to the buyer, they came out with the same guitar, but uglier. Yet people are going to go crazy just because of the name on it haha
Not that aesthetics should dictate, but the look of the top with the tarditional headstock in brown just looks wrong to me.They seem to be trying too hard to come up with something new looking. Ahhhh the marketing department.
@xArsVivendi thanks. I don't play strays. Martin has at least 12 "standard " neck profiles, 3 different tapers, and a few special necks like the Modern Deluxe that has a cantilevered shape. Nut width is from 1-11/16 up past 1-3/4 for 12-strings. So I asked about the profile on this model. Thanks
In my opinion the OMJM plays really well, and the neck shape is perfect for me. I tested the OMJM and the 000-28 Eric Clapton, and I highly preferred the C-shape to the V-shape of the EC model. But you should probably try it out for yourself, before you buy. :)@@texhaines9957
Not my fav but I don’t mind it and depending on the guitar I agree about sunburst. Some folks don’t like all black but I love ‘em despite not having one.
Beautiful artistry - both your playing and the guitar itself. I have an Engelmann top on my HD28-KM.
This is one of the best guitar reviews I’ve ever seen. The commentary and the playing is top tier 👏👏
Phenomenal playing 🙌❤️
The top is beautiful, it’s what convinced me to buy it!
Thank you Chris. That is a very nice looking, nice sounding guitar. Great to hear it. Thank you
Thank you Chris , as usual you always do a great job on your reviews.
Very nice Chris, awesome review. I think I have the same Taylor 914ce model you have, with Engelmann spruce. It is my favorite finger style guitar.
Very sweet guitar like the tonal balance of course the impressive demo was able to convey the best features of the guitar. Thanks!
Are we ever getting new episodes of the podcast?
Came here specifically to ask that, it’s been a while since the last episode
Ditto
Beautiful guitar! It's been growing on me. Very balanced (with a scoop). Amazing tone.
The engelman top is so nice, awesome guitar.

What song are you playing at about 8:45. I hear you play it a lot. Very beautiful.
I hear that song in all your reviews. I have tried to copy it but if it has a name we would all appreciate it
Nice demo. Beautiful sounding guitar!!
Beautiful sounding guitar and nice demo. I need to find a Sugar Santa so I can request it for Christmas. 😄

Such a beautiful guitar!
I guess I’m one of the only folks that love the gray-burst top 🤷♂️
Chris enjoyed that demo 😁
It sounds freaking amazing!!!
I don’t love the color, though, but the sound makes up for it.
Amazing review and great context. You get an om 45 20th yet? Pls review!
Man that sounds good.
Wonderful playing. Is there any effect of a sound or just a mic?
Out the door already !
Thank you for this great review, are the strings Martin's ?
It’s an odd style, I would not guess I would like its aesthetic but I kind of do, it sounds very sweet when played

Been waiting on mine from Sweetwater
Sound is beautiful on this guitar. Not keen on the looks though. Maybe it looks better in person ?

Agree. Don't like the look at all. I was thinking how the hell did JM approve this?
apparently it was johns idea! @@camhurst5565
black headstock would have been great.
Some are darker at the headstock. It depends. The lighter one does look bad for sure
What is the neck profile? Soft V? Classic?
John Mayer Martins have a 1 1/16 nut width and a C-shape neck, that's almost like a big strat neck in my opinion.

The color looks like a primer:-)
After your video it sold out everywhere!
Sounds awesome in the right hands, should’ve matched the headstock though! Not too worry I’d never spend that amount of money on a guitar!😂😂
I find it very hard to believe that anyone can hear the difference between Engelmann and Sitka.
I have #48 !!
The only thing missing in the guitar is the thing to put the strap
Beard even more beardy than usual Chris?
Sounds great, but such an ugly top! Terrible colour, looks like a kid's toy from the top, but then i dislike sunbursts. Grey and abalone?!
Totally agree. I don't think the colour of that top works at all. I quite like bursts myself, but the colour of this one is so unappealing.
Not my fav but I don’t mind it and depending on the guitar I agree about sunburst. Some folks don’t like all black but I love ‘em despite not having one.
This guitar is just ugly - why is there not a new release of the om-28jm?
Nice demo, thanks. The color of that guitar is ugly IMO.
