I know people are hating on Diageo, and prices are a bit over the top, but I really liked the Roseisle. Seems there's plenty of stock left out there, so seeing a lot of discounted prices about. I'd encourage anyone to give it a try for the right price. Reminds me of a mix of Longmorn and Clynelish somewhat.
Was lucky enough to get a tour of Roseisle during Spirit of Speyside festival a few years ago. The place is massive. An absolute powerhorse of a distillery(factory) pumping out spirit left right and centre. I think i paid £105 for this, over priced? Yes very much so, but I did enjoy this dram. They have just released another version of the 12 for this years 2024 releases, again all over priced. Sadly the 2024 bottle is priced at £135...will see if I can get cheaper in the auctions. Great review!
Roseisle 12 is an inaugural release. Roseisle is located in the north speyside region near the coast. It's a super distillery created by Diageo. As others have said it was designed to be able to reproduce almost any other style. And was designed to be carbon neutral. What that all means remains to be seen.
Nice one Rob, glad you liked it. I think it was a great release as well, I really enjoyed it myself. Great that they release 20ml bottles too. Cheers 🥃
Nice review. Tx! I bought a bottle for one of my boys as a graduation present (I’d never seen roseisle before), along with 4 glencairn glasses. I had seen reviews from others which rated this highly, albeit overpriced. He loved it, as did some of his whiskey-loving buds. I look forward to opening up a bottle I bought for myself at some point. Gotta get through some other bottles first! If I find it on sale, I’ll buy another bottle!
This beauty sounds wonderful Rob! I have to get on the hunt! I'd love to try this lovely scotch! Great thoughts on nosing and the palette! Wow $130 Canadian? That's amazing! I am definitely on the hunt! I'd like to think Diageo doesn't understand their potential but the slightly cynical part of me thinks they believe people will keep buying no matter the cost of so much scotch. I hate that because it means scotch is becoming an elite spirit to buy and take part in and many enthusiasts will miss out. I wish there was an even playing field. Prices are outrageous and it goes beyond Diageo! Great review as always Rob! I hope you and your family are enjoying the summer! Happy Solstice! Cheers! 🙂
Diageo picked a bad time to jack up their prices...I see alot of the 2023 SR's on sale for 20-25% off and I'm still barely interested due to the economic conditions we're experiencing, as you also pointed out. Heads up though: that Glenkinchie 27yr is on deep discount as well! I might have to break my Diageo boycott for that one....what do you think?
This one interests me in that Roseisle was built to try and mimic the other distilleries in Diageo's portfolio for support output. I wonder if that profile going to be typical Roseisle or will it morph constantly. Diageo probably better understands the wax and wane of demand/utility and isnt raiding their stocks like Billy Walker. Not always the best long term plan.
@@WhiskyInThe6 I'm in Ottawa and I checked one local store and there are two on the shelf same price $178. With only 68 bottles left for delivery LCBO upped the price yeah LCBO😠
Sounds interesting BUT even though I was the #6 viewer and I checked moments after your review, LCBO had 69 bottles to ship @ $177.25! Craft Cellars was at $ 149.99 + shog + ON txs!
Makes me wanna try it even more, thanks, Rob !

Agreed! I will always adore Lagavulin and Talisker among others! It’s just a reality.

I definitely should've tried this when I was down for the podcast. You offered, but I had to drive home. It sounds fantastic. Great review Rob!

@@WhiskyInThe6 I found it! Just about to try this tonight with my husband Joel! Excited! Cheers Rob!
I wonder if they picked a few honey barrels for this one
Saw this in Istanbul duty free for 130 euro. Kinda pricey. But for 100usd I wouldn’t hesitate. Ended buying talisker wilder seas. 👍🏻
