      @KenjiFox 5 днів тому

      You don't need labels when none of it is CGI. Well, except when it was very obvious, such as the training data sets that showed lots of models at once learning movements. The only thing that was not real but could (possibly?) be seen as real was the three doing a dance. That was more animations running on model. The actual robot could potentially play that same animation along with dynamic balance, but I believe the current models actuators may not handle that one as of now.
      Everything else was the real machine running about.

    • @jaredburks2565
      @jaredburks2565 7 днів тому +1

      I emailed unitree and they said you can program custom tasks with the G1 EDU model, which there are several of and range from 35k - 60k, via their SDK, which uses python, c++, or ROS. You need to train motion sequences and tune with feedback from its sensors, like have it move forward then stop when 1ft from this object or obstruction. I assume it'll take some effort but perhaps training can be done via simulation using nvidia's IssacSIM or something. Charge time is approx. 2.5hrs for 3-4hrs of operation.

    $16k for G1 is a high price if it can’t do very many existing jobs so is really just a toy. If can be trained to do factory jobs, it’s a dirt cheap price. Optimus is intended to be a drop in replacement for most human labor - so it’s likely too valuable to be sold at all for a long time when it can be leased for a good fraction of the wages of labor it replaces.

    You guys need to get your facts right, you do these reviews and tout unitree advertising and do no actual journalism lol
    Example
    You mention a 16k price point that could be competitive to teslas Optimus but the model listed at 16k has it specifically listed on the unitree site that it doesn’t include actuated hands.
    So in other words you took both models at face value, did no research and tried to spin it as a real product review when you could have done 15 minutes of research and made a real comparison between each robot. I love the unitree model but seeing all the misinformation about it is painful, just look into it as a normal consumer would.

      Sadly... the answer is yes.
      Either by: having it hold a weapon OR just put a bunch of boom on it, and have it walk in the front door of the target.
      Either way, yes... robots will be used in warfare.

    1. Mechanical robots are already close to maximum dexterity, yet they are still clumsy and/or slow
    2. Robots will always consume more energy than a person. The Brain Operates on Very Little Power. About 20 watts of power. The average trained male cyclist can typically sustain about 3.5 watts per kilogram for an hour. A mechanical robot will always require orders of magnitude more energy to think and to act.
    3. We currently don't have enough energy to power the data centers that will control the robots, or enough energy to power them.
    4. The closest analogy to owning a robot is owning a car. Saying a $16,000 robot will only get cheaper with mass production. Is like saying cars will only get cheaper with mass production. We have been mass producing cars since henry ford and since then the price of a car has gone up. How Much Did Popular Cars Cost Every Year, Price in 2020 Dollars?
    1918 Ford Model T $24,835.00
    1971 Chrysler New Yorker $35,498.00
    2020 Lexus IS $39,050.00
    Don't fall for the hype. There are billions of people in Asia and Africa. Doing Jobs that robots currently can't do for less $2000 a year.
