    I need one of these things like a hole in the head, but I'm getting more and more tempted. The FX ballistic radar is the one I'm following to see if early reports hold in more hands. It's pricey now, but it's one of those things that look tailor made to drop in price once the newness fades.
    I have my most recent experience with a magnetospeed, luckily someone else's that they don't particularly like as much as myself, so I get to use it about as much as I want. Thanks for the review, I should have grabbed one when they were far sub five hundred.

      I love that there are more options coming so hopefully that does drive down the price. I went this route because I got used to using my buddy’s. Then he moved and I needed one! So he really is to blame for my spending this much on this!!

      Thanks my friend for watching! Hope it helps! Not sure if I would if I had my own range and was as good a shot as you!

    I have not seen anyone that has used this at an indoor range with shooters in next stalls on either/both sides. Would love to know if they go afoul in those conditions. Everyone I've seen is out on their own, typically. Must be nice!!
    You certainly mentioned plenty of advantages. So those are good to hear.
    I bought the Magneto Sporter so I could work on loads at the nearby indoor-range. I haven't done a ton of testing with POI shift, but I did do an initial test with .223 @ 100 yards, and I didn't see anything significant change with my already sad groups. I would imagine some loads could shift, though or even affect groups if a person is at that level of precision. I'll eventually do more testing to verify if/how much might be impacted.
    Just like everything in shooting, it seems it's always nothing but trade-offs. Each for sure has some quirks.
    Radar might be a bit cumbersome for me to use at indoor range given small area in stall
    I've only grazed a DLX once but didn't hurt it.
    I wish these radars weren't so expensive. I was going to buy one before I got the 1st Magneto but were OOS everywhere. So I did get two Magneto (sporter & V3) for about the same cost.

      Thanks Shasta, as always top notch input, data and expertise. I’ve not seen a poi shift with the magneto, it might just be myth. I have used my lab radar with people two stalls down on one side and it worked fine. But I agree, probably the magneto is better for that environment. Thanks again!!

      @@triggerbarPhDactually, I lied...it was a group of .308 PMC Bronze 147 grain, with & w/o the Magneto attached that I used to see if anything really obvious and not .223. I just wanted to see if it turned things to a 5" group and moved the POI from high/right to low/left or something crazy. What I saw was..
      w/MS: - 2.1" group
      .6" low/1.8"left
      w/o MS - 1.9" group
      .5" low/1.9"left
      ...so, to use a quote, "you be the judge?"
      I doubt that it's a myth. It would seem that something on the barrel HAS to affect harmonics in some way. But I suspect a person has to probably be sub-MOA with whatever load they are comparing to isolate any difference. Or one gun might be affected differently than some other one. I intentionally chose a very basic factory round for that 1st comparison just to know if I could put ANY confidence into firings while wearing that thing on the barrel of a budget rifle. I can say w/o a doubt that it's "good enough" to do (my) load work, but also w/o a doubt that I'd be doing some groups & zero'ing without it on there before taking a shot at some game at 800 yards or stumbling into some F-class competition with my T/C Compass. haha.

      @@triggerbarPhD ok, DANGIT! See? This is WHY I make videos! I can't remember things that happened unless I do!!!! I DID shoot some .223 with & w/o, also.
      And that DID have a considerable shift in POI:
      w/MS: -3.7" group
      1.2 HIGH / .2 " left
      w/o MS - 2.2" group
      1.3" LOW / .2 " left
      so, a 2.5" change in elevation at 100 yards!!
      I will do an actual better test with some match ammo, and/or handloads. So my budget .223 with Herters 55 gr FMJ definitely saw a considerable POI shift, but my .308 really didn't. I'm just a treasure-trove of bad info!! haha.

      I have used my Labradar many times at indoor ranges. I don't really experience any issues beyond what I normally have. You may need to tweak the sensitivity settings, which is very easy to do.

    • @ShastaBean
      @ShastaBean Рік тому

      that's good to know @@P0rtScann3r ! There seem to be literally zero videos demonstrating it and I've seen mixed comments on whether they are affected by others' shooting.
      Just watched: X-Ring did a recent video that compares the MagnetoV3, the LRadar & FX True Ballistics...
      Glad I watched it because I was unaware there's a solution to the barrel harmonics concern with the Magneto and able to get an ARCA rail mount, although not cheap. I'll almost certainly be doing that for my two .338 LM. I had not attached the Magneto to either those rifles' barrels, yet, and may never do it if I get that adapter.
      There are no doubt pros v. cons with whatever a person does. Muzzle brakes look to be a factor, for sure. With what he showed, I likely wouldn't be able to use radar on a bench where I shoot, because of not enough room to shoot past the radar.

    Great video. I have a chrono and my biggest fear is hitting it. Also cause I shoot in a field sun light effects it so I have to wait for overcast days to use it. I could never justify the cost of a lab radar but it sounds nice.

      @triggerbarPhD  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Jesse! I get it. But I have seen people shoot 3-4 of them…at that point you are buying a lab radar! 😂🤣. Also as I said a chrono is better with suppressed guns so there are just differences and everyone has their own reasons. You also have your own range. I don’t. I can’t go down range some places I shoot!

    Great review. I have been in the market so great timing on the topic. Curious if this can act as a radar gun for things like pitching or atv/snowmobile drags?

    • @triggerbarPhD
      @triggerbarPhD  Рік тому

      I don't think so. It needs a "bang" to activate. Then, I don't think it can measure things as slow as pitches or vehicles. It would need a fourth mode, rifle, pistol, archery, and vehicles and balls. ;-)

      Hi! Thanks for subscribing. So the tricks I’d use: 1) make sure you are at least 16 yards from the target 2) make sure you aren’t in a narrow hall way or other projectiles are being shot at the same time. 3) aim it using the top sights to be at your target 4) use the arrow mode with the velocity on the lowest setting. Hope that helps!
