David Gilmour is undoubtedly one of the best guitarists ever! Thank you so much dude for breaking it down and helping me learn one of my favorite solos from him!
Papastache you are my God! you know what i am great fan of Gilmour for over 3 decades but only after i turned 52 did i actually pick up a guitar and started to learn to play. always wanted to play this intro solo and watched your this video and practiced for over 2 months and now finally i am able to play this reasonably well. today my son heard me play and said Dad that sounds pretty close and wow i felt thrilled to my gills. thanks a ton Papstache.... may God bbless you.......
Awesome. Think you are the best guitar lesson guider particularly in this song. Slow and step by step pattern of yours wins it all. Great going buddy, appreciate.
Man. This video is awesome. This is my favorite song. I have no normal guitar training. I learned to play by ear learning the pentatonic scale but know it has hurt my ability in long run. I had a strater caster and a Gretch hollow body but had to sell for rent. Playing guitar can make 8 hrs go by like 15 min. I will get another guitar and learn this amazing song and watch your video hundreds of times to get there. Thank you for helping others learn, amaze and improve in their play.
what i like you about the most is that you not only play good.. you teach good.. \ when my girlfriend married a another man and i was sitting alone at my room thinking about it .. and then this track randomly played on my music player heard it first time .. i felt like this song was made for me .. since then whoever plays this song and feel like they're part of my life too.. Amazing song ... And thanks for your great lesson.. god bless man .. never mind about my English thou..
The best tutorial I've ever Heard and seen. Not so fast than other tutorials. Step by Step that everybody can play this. BRAVO! BRILLANT! THANK YOU VERY MUCH🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍👍❤❤❤
I came into guitar playing a lot later in life but having watched a lot of tutors since starting I have to say that your lessons & style of presenting are superior to a lot of the others on You Tube. Helps that you are playing the sort of stuff I like but even so you have to come over well for players like me to progress any further.
I absolutely love that song! It frickin speaks to me! I'm gonna learn this song no matter how long it takes. Gotta do it! Thanks for teaching such soulful music 💖🎸🎶
@@BrettPapa A suggestion for maybe later down the road would be a song by the Scorpions, 'Sails of Charon' the solo by Uli Jon Roth. It's so frickin cool.
Another one of those old dudes finally picking up the guitar (45, but I feel like an old dude). Been picking around playing a lot of scales, learning hardly any chords, and playing little tiny bits of songs. Finally decided to just sit down and learn A song. So many to choose from, but just like you said in the video, this song is a masterpiece of great riffs. I always told myself if I ever had one wish it would be to be able to play guitar like DG. Finally decided to stop waiting for a wish and just do it. I've struggled quite a bit watching a LOT of videos of people walking thru songs, and this video (and the next one) have finally set the hook in me. Don't want to kiss up to ya too much, but your style, tone and your ability to get my brain and fingers to work together are top notch. Only halfway thru getting this one down, but my playing has improved in a BIG way since I started learning this song. Thank you for making my wish become true!
I tried to learn this song when I was first starting to play about 20 years ago and it was way out of my league. Just sat down and learned to play with this video. Thanks for helping me achieve a personal goal of more than two decades.
One of my all timne favourites. There are lots of tabs and vids on how to play this but this seems to be the one that really helps me make progress. Thanks.
papa ur the best man you make seemingly impossible songs playable, and you inspire me to continue playing guitar everyday through your lessons. Thank you so much.
Brett, thank you so much for this, you are a fantastic teacher. Gilmour is the one that I so try to shape my style to and you make it understandable. I’m 64 and never started really understanding leads until about 5 years ago, although I’ve been Cowboy Chording my way through life. I come back to my teacher and say nope that’s not the way you played it. He’s a bit jealous of you, but he’ll get over it. Thank you again!
papastache you're the best. Thank you so much for breaking down such a great song. You've made it easy to understand and learn, even for a 60+ year old man. Keep up the great work and I will continue to learn from you.
I love the way you explain things....I’ve watched a lot of different guys lesson videos on here and by far are you the best teacher hands down! Thank you so much it would be a gift from god if you lived anywhere near Pittsburgh....I’m sure I’m not that lucky.
Nunca escribi un comentario en youtube para nadie. Pero la verdad que te lo mereces!!! Muchas gracias por ese tutorial de esa hermosisima cancion de Floyd.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the 3 lessons you did on this. I love this song and, thanks to the lessons, am now gigging it with my band. Great job, thank you
Hey, it is the best tutorial of coming back to life i have come across....., you made it so easy with your teaching style, simply brilliantly done..great tutorial, great work...
Thanks for the good lesson. I have the tab book but this saved a bunch of time. Only thing I can add is don't be scared to crank a tiny amp clean and add a tiny bit of fuzz. My Mojohand iron bell crushes it.
Thank you for an excellent lesson. Finally, I'm starting to understand how David Gilmour plays it and now I'm training this song slowly. I'm his fan. Do you have a tutorial video, where you explain how to play On The Turning Away? It would be very grateful. Thanks. Hello from Russia.
Thanks Papastache, I could tell you were getting right into the feeling of that solo. David Gilmour, is always the man to study when you need to work on melodic soloing. The guy is a genius! Great lesson once again
Im from NY on a stay at home order and im chilling with my guitar !! im loving it. I learned On the Turning Away, And another brick in the Wall from you this past week. Awesome stuff! love the passion bro!. Can you please do Sorrow the live version from the Pulse album? Def. one of the sickest solos ever laid down .. EVER
Maaaan. Thanks so much. This wouldve taken ALOT longer to do by ear. Ive made a few (small) adjustments to simplify it by leaving out inaudible notes (like the pull-hammer passing notes in the 3rd phrase, by listening to the Division Bell version to see what i can hear, and what i can barely hear (unless it feels natural to put it in) ...im gonna eventually work in my own touch (slightly, like putting vibratos or rakes where they are not, if it feels nice to me) anyway.
you should show us how to play prince's 'computer blue' solo, from the purple rain album. it starts two and a half minutes into the song. words cannot convey the beauty of it.
Hey man, how are you? It has been a good learning experience with your lessons. I would like to request the song the temple of the king by Rainbow so hope you would provide the lessons depending on the situation. Have a good day sir.
Wow! I love this song and you made it so easy to learn. What kind of amp are you playing through? Gilmour is my all time favorite, but Joe Bonamassa is a very close second. Could you do a lesson on Mountain Time?
You always amazed me great job man. I would love to learn, Learning to fly pulse by Pink Floyd. could you look in to that. Thanks man and keep up the good work.
