Fermcap is your friend (if you don't mind chemicals in your wort)! A couple of drops and no boil overs. Awesome set of videos thus far!

I’ve never used that yet but I’ve wanted to. Just need to order it.
      Thank you for the feedback!

Pretty much the same method and equipment I use for 10-15 gallon batches. I’ll typically be cheap and only use 1 pack about a week before brew day and build a 3 step starter. You need to get some fermcap-s, boil overs are a thing of the past. Also, 100% silicone gloves are amazing for grabbing a hot flask. The ones people use for grilling or cooking.

You don't NEED any of that fancy stuff. I used to make starters in a glass growler......just gave it a shake every time I past it, works fine. I do use a stir plate (home made) now with and Erlenmeyer flask, which I just broke.......

Great Video! At the end, you said to drain the flask. How do you do that? Do you just pour off the wort into a sink until only yeast remains? Do you leave a little wort? How do you know when to stop pouring?

I take the yeast starter off the stir plate after 24 hours. I place the entire flask into the fridge, 24-48 hours after sitting in the fridge I’ll decant(pour out the wort off the settled yeast) into a sink and thin leave a thin layer of that wort on top just to make it easier to mix the yeast into a slurry.
If you don’t leave that thin layer of wort from the starter in the flask, it makes it a pain to get the yeast into your fermenter. I always remove most of my starter wort because it simply taste bad and you don’t want that in your batch of wort you brewed. It might not be a massive difference but some of my starters are over 4L’s and that’s a lot of nasty tasting wort going into a batch if I didn’t remove it. Cheers Dan O!

Do i have to boil the wart in the Erlenmeyer flask or can I boil it in a pot and fill it into a sanitized flask afterwards

You could boil it in a separate pot for sure. Just sanitize the funnel and flask like you said before transferring it into the flask

Doesn't that happen already during fermentation?

From what I understand, yeast can be stressed if they're constantly creating alcohol and reproducing with a low population, creating off flavors. A starter essentially creates a large population and a stress free ferment for your yeast.
