I like very much your videos. Your quality of work is top noch. Please consider make a comparison video of gt 7 running on ps4 pro with forza motorsport 7 running on xbox one x! Nobody has done that and is the most curious thing to see.
People should take into account the fact that Ray Tracing mode is only available in Replays, Menus and Car Inspection. Even if you do enable Ray Tracing, it will not be visible in the gameplay part of the game.
Yep, and you could see that the ray tracing that is there is quite low resolution and so contrary to what a lot of people assume, it doesn’t always look better, whatever we mean by “better”. Sometimes it does, but most of the time the performance mode just looked sharper, more detailed and clearly ran smoother. Unfortunately we are a generation or two away from games running ray tracing as a default with the same level of fidelity. Right now it’s in there because there’s this expectation and demand for it. It’s a bit like when game consoles could handle 4K in theory, but in practice it gave with one hand and took with the other. Personally I’d rather not have the option, not on my console games. Being a racer, just make the game run at 60 fps and make it look as good as possible in the different modes. If there’s horsepower left to use some ray tracing to make certain things look better, then great.
The game actually runs smooth on PS4 Pro, makes me think they spent the most time optimizing it for last gen consoles. If you have a PS4 Pro dont worry about performance. It is very similar to GT Sport.
Gt7 was clearly developed completely on PS4 and ported to the PS5 unlike what Sony had stated. There would have been a much greater delta in the visuals and performance from PS4 to PS5. Very disappointing
How is it disappointing your getting a fantastic game across two generations and neither is inferior but the ps5 can run it at it's best overall capability.
yeah i knew the curated videos and cutscenes they were showing weren't actual gameplay but people in the comments swore this was going to be the best graphics we've seen
@@barrie1419 GT7 is really a slight upgrade to sport with the campaign mode and ability to customise cars tagged on. I loved sport though so I’m ok with it.
I feel like shadows are becoming more and more unrealistic with their sharpness. When I see a tree shadow outside its always blurry as hell haha. Also raytracing is freaking insane
I feel like the game could have used RT shadows to get that diffused effect. Probably would also be much less demanding than RT reflections during gameplay
There's a reason for what you're describing. Shadows are dependent on light and an object with high enough opacity to prevent like from passing through it. The size of the object, the height of the sun, moisture in the air and distance the shadow is thrown will affect how diffused a shadow will look. The more light present, the more diffused the shadow will look. The sun is always the same distance so, the size of the object casting a shadow comes into play more often, also why the height of the sun also affects shadow diffusion. The reason we see light as day is because sunlight is reflecting of the water in the atmosphere as well as giving direct sunlight, when the sun is low shadows will be more diffused because more of the light comes from ambient sunlight(reflected off atmosphere and objects) when it gets higher in the sky more direct light happens and shadows are darker, but the light is much stronger and you'll notice depending on the size of the object the shadow will be sharp overall, the smaller the object the more diffused the shadow will look even in direct sunlight. Ray tracing main purpose is to calculate the correct light bounces, which helps illuminate objects correctly based on our physical world, it's why the shadows of parts not in direct light look fuzzy (example in the video it shows it in the Ray tracing bit of the Mustang in the showroom up close) but, the car shadow from direct light is sharp. I'm not sure what they use for the shadow depth calculations but real light and shadow are a pair as long as there is an object which doesn't let light pass through it. Light is a funny topic, but it's interesting how it works as long as there is light there is always shadow.
@@axel8427 Either way, it is a cross-gen game, so GT7 isn’t a game that truly showcases the power of ps5. Though, it’s true that HZFW is still a cross-gen but also a gorgeous game. That aside, the loading time for ps5 is definitely a win:)
@@axel8427 what do you mean am I sure it's pretty clear it was made for ps4 and then improved for ps5 just by looking at it If it was actually made for ps5 it would completely different.
@@floww587 nobody in this particular comment thread said that ray tracing was in gameplay, merely mentioning that for the most part, performance mode looked better and sharper in general, and I would agree. In some instances, like on a black shiny car rotating in a showroom, ray tracing looked better. But, out on track when things aren’t so close up and are moving a lot with plenty of environment to deal with, performance mode tended to look better. At those speeds, nobody is going to know whether a reflection is truly accurate, as long as it appears accurate. What ray tracing is there appears quite low resolution, and the rotating cars didn’t seem as smooth. Certainly without a side-by-side comparison, you’d be hard pushed to spot the difference most of the time, so I’ll be sticking to prioritising FPS regardless.
@@plasticboy81 Taking away the cars with raytracing applied to replay mode, everything else looks like a PS3 game that got a PS4 remaster at the begining of the generation.
I wonder if you could put an ssd with a ps4 if it would load as fast as the ps5. Anyone know if that's possible? With an external ssd at the very least?
@@Trippsy05 you can check for tutorials on installing an ssd on PS4, it does change some loading times but it has limitations due to the cpu being what it is on the ps4
@@Trippsy05 I use an external SSD. It is faster compared to the standard hdd, but it still doesn't touch the ps5's load times. Usually it's about half the time, if not a little more
@@Trippsy05 PS5 has dedicated hardware-accelerated decompression and ultra fast bus which pushes the SSD for all its worth, and of course native PS5 games are also installed way more efficiently. Comparatively, the PS4/Xbox One generation had no dedicated hardware for it, relied on CPU for IO/decompression, and much slower bandwidth, and stuck with HDD install file system. So you use a fast SSD with PS4/Pro you are mostly seeing 'passive' speed increase, an improvement, but very restricted.
Great comparison video! Only thing I would change is how the indicator fir the currently displayed system works. Make it change position as well, so it is easier to see what is shown right now without having to look at it for performance/raytracing-swaps.
what do you expect? its a console, with woefully average hardware, you get what you pay for, now if the ps5 cost upwards of 2000 usd id be disappointed as well
I can't wait until we can drop the cross gen stuff across the board. It looks great, but you know it's being held back to some extent to run on the base PS4.
@ElAnalistaDeBits there's something wrong with the render of this video it looks far lower resolution especially if you look at the PS5 footage at 4k?? Same problem as with your recent Horizon Forbidden West comparison, please can you check? Example from 3:43 look at the quality of the PS5 footage doesn't look right?
Bit bummed out that there's no Ray-Tracing in actual gameplay on ps5 and I do believe that with some optimisation work, the game can run and look better across all platforms. I mean, GTSport looks sharp doesn't it? Edit: I would also like to express my views about the environmental details in this game. It's just... Bland... GTSport did an overall excellent job with its weather system, lighting system and other major things like details and textures. Here, across all platforms I'm seeing textures that look like they are failing to load in fully. Rainy weather looks somewhat OK but in sunny weather it looks... flat... Weather graphics in this game look identical to GT5 and GT6 graphics and GTSport did a way better job at holding high definition graphics regardless of the situation. This game costs over 100 Aussie bucks and I am not spending that much money on something that looks like 30 aussie bucks. Edit2: Considering the shitty port of uncharted 4 and lost legacy to ps5 and Horizon Forbidden West to ps5, I really hoped GT7 was gonna change the usual habits of butchering games by having a performance mode or quality mode. I guessed wrong. It's been over a year and almost a half now and we aren't getting 4K 60FPS on major titles let alone the 4K 120FPS that is advertised on the box!
@@oceanwaves95 all the fancy gameplay trailer footage on the weather and whatnot isn't shown here. The weather along with textures and environment detail is just... bland in this comparison.

It's not when you see them in gameplay. UA-cam never does a decent comparison of stuff like this. I've recently upgraded to a PS5 and the difference is miles apart. Graphics are on a whole new level.
GT Sport looked good in videos too but when I played it on my ps4 it looked way worse than expected. But 60fps is awesome considering the limitations of ps4
Wow ps5 performance is pretty bad and I honestly thought this should have ran smoothly with it being a closed circuit racer forza horizon 5 is an open world racer and it runs way smoother then this
Pretty on point... game seems to look and play great... across all platforms. The ray tracing and 4k create finer details... but it's not anything we can't live without when comparing each platform.
@@floww587 No doubt... even considering how good GT Sport looks on previous gen... seems more like something they did, just because they could. Those PS5 loading times are magnificent but I'm still disappointed this is cross-gen. We're nearly 2 years into the PS5 now and Sony is still making games for the ancient old PS4 which just destroys their potential.
I don't know why the sunlight reflections off the cars are so bright on PS5. Bright to the point of them looking unpleasant and distracting at least in the videos I've seen. Example of this at 9:34.
It's just in game manufacturing. The hardware can take more, look up games that come out when new consoles come out and then look at the games when the console is near it's end, there is a huge difference.

Lol PS4 took like 5 years into to it's lifespan to truly push it's hardware in terms of graphics and performance. Give it some time.. I'm interested to see what happens in the years to come with the ps5
I dont think its the machines. Ps5 had a very strong start with returnal, spiderman remaster, demons souls, ratchet and clank. Horizon forbidden west looks insane as well. But i cant shake the impression that sonys new leadership is compromising quality in favor of quick money lately. Which i think will backfire in the long run as ps subscriptions are where the money is. And those are going to drop
I've been waiting to see this game early footage but man, there's quite some things I don't like really, sometimes the edges even on high resolutions they look a bit crispy like there's no anti-aliasing at all and the Ray Tracing not available for real time gameplay is a shame 😒😒☹️
But you do realize that during gameplay the last thing you are paying attention to are reflections, right? This is a racing game where you are looking to what's coming ahead and not a game like Spiderman where you can sit idle next to a window. Even cutting back on resolution and such to have the in-race headroom to allow for raytracing in-game would be a waste of resources.
@@gamingeuphoria7928 actually, he's got a point, however even though racing here is more intense than on Gta V for example, in Gta (even when playing) you realize or take a look at reflections to see how good the game is when it comes to reality, this is what I mean on real-time gameplay on this new game
Personally I prefer frame rate over pretty reflections especially on racing games. Even on a beefy gaming PC real time ray tracing is seriously expensive performance wise without DLSS or FSR. The PS5 isn't that powerful enough to run ray tracing games at 60 fps with RDNA 2 GPU.

I know that you can't make definitive judgements based off a UA-cam image, but I'm a little disappointed with what I'm seeing here on PS5. Frame-rate drops (in a non open-world), noticeable pop-in, lots of jaggies (poor anti-aliasing), and last gen textures. It looks every bit a cross-gen game, an incremental upgrade from GT:Sport (which still looks very nice) with a sprinkling of ray tracing - not during the races - and faster loading times. When you see the standards that the likes of Insomniac and 4A games have achieved on PS5 with R and C/Metro Exodus - large open worlds, packed with detail and effects, ray tracing, excellent image quality - no jaggies - and very solid frame-rates ..... GT7, in its current state, looks a little underwhelming, at least on a technical level.

The loading speed on PS5 (pretty much ridiculous) makes every element of GT7's 'campaign' and competitive multiplayer just so much smoother to navigate the UI and enter a race rapidly, start playing. Fast-smooth post-race. Very satisfying.💨 Edit: not just loading 20x faster than last-gen, it's doing this with ++higher textures and assets, to a x2 higher memory pool to fill, 20× faster.
@@mauro100 hahaha, so I take it you don’t own a PS5? If you did, maybe you’d know that there is far more to the SSD inside the PS5 than just outright read speed.

I feel like the game could have used RT shadows to get that diffused effect. Probably would also be much less demanding than RT reflections during gameplay
@@teehundeart Only replays are ray traced .
@@jackanderson2773 I think there's an option to allow for ray tracing during races, could be wrong though

There is no raytracing in gameplay it’s only for photo mode or replay , it’s the reflection that see low /blurry

@@soumenkamila92 not sure where I mentioned Forza but you do you.
Best comparison video of GT7. Thank you :)
After playing Forza Horizon 5 nothing about this game impresses me.
Forza Horizon > Grand Turismo
Yeah.
FH5 > GT7
As a ps5 owner i absolutely have to agree. I did bet on the wrong horse this gen i think. Pc it is then.
Great video, PS4 Version will do. I’m GRATEFUL for That 🏆🚀🦍
Wow. This looks bad. No raytracing in game? Seriously? Spiderman depicted a bustling city with glas skyscrapers at 60fps, with raytracing.
No comparison for PS4 pro and PS5 in camera mode??
Its a crossgen game bro..
@@ruan015 y el forza horizon 5 que es?
@@ruan015 FH its cross gen too.
@@mrx2039 yes man, but gt7 has infinite more features, like museum and racing modes. Forza is a great game, but Gran Turismo has always been and is more complete in this regard, making the game heavier.
Very good video!!! Thank you! 👍👍❤️❤️
Waiting for PS5 Pro and the PS5 Pro Version / Update
GT7, in its current state, looks a little underwhelming, at least on a technical level.
game is still early, expect updates for the ps5 version in months to come. by the time the game has a price drop which is when i normally buy the games then the game would have had a couple of updates by then. but to get the game out for launch for all 3 platforms is pretty good.
@@MyRandall10 at this rate i expect absolutely nothing from sony. Maybe a better fully raytraced and cheaper pc port next year.
I’m guessing the ps5 is just underpowered
Playing on your screen and watching a youtube video is totally diffrent...
@@JamieRobert_ not really, ive had ps5 for over a year went from standard ps4 to ps5, played for example uncharted legacy of thieves on ps4 and very good game and graphics, just upgraded to the ps5 version and i see a big difference the graphics are cleaner sharper and gameplay is so smooth at 60fps. as i played on performance, theres also performance plus that runs at 120fps but graphics go down to 1080hd which is ps4 standard but still looks cleaner than the ps4 standard. spiderman remastered on ps5 and miles morales also looked cleaner sharper and smooth. at 1st i was wondering what all the fuss was about with fps, but going from 30 to 60 you see a massive difference. as for gt7 and any game for that matter shown on youtube you cant really tell the difference sometimes, you get an idea of the differences, then when you buy the game on your actual console thats when you see the improvements.
The visual are not ok for a closed game....another thing due to cross genz development i can't wait to see full next gen games.
Kick ass comparison review.
XD? no entendí bien
The loading speed on PS5 (pretty much ridiculous) makes every element of GT7's 'campaign' and competitive multiplayer just so much smoother to navigate the UI and enter a race rapidly, start playing. Fast-smooth post-race. Very satisfying.💨
Edit: not just loading 20x faster than last-gen, it's doing this with ++higher textures and assets, to a x2 higher memory pool to fill, 20× faster.
@@mauro100 hahaha, so I take it you don’t own a PS5? If you did, maybe you’d know that there is far more to the SSD inside the PS5 than just outright read speed. When a game is optimised for PS5 architecture, loading times become orders of magnitude faster. Sure, an SSD will improve performance over standard, but nowhere near the same extent.
All fun and games until you have to wait for other PS4 players online.
@@X22GJP I'm guessing you haven't tried it.. because basically everything loads in 5 secs with an SSD hooked to the PS4
Dissapointed in the graphics forza motorsport 7 and horizon 5 look much better this looks like forza motorsport 6....
T R U E
Holy fck that loading time is insane
The most beautiful thing in the game: The coffee mug. lol
The Real Driving Simulator😎
The real roblox game 😎
Esta horrible
So now after seeing this video, do I buy an external SSD for my PS4 Pro ?
So on the PS5 the spectators go 'Zig Heil' lol
