Had black soot on my glass and in the stove last winter most of the time. Gave my pellet stove the best clean out its had in the 18 years that I've had it. Disconnected it completely took it outside of the house and used my shop vac blower and blew out everything left in it such ash and dust after giving it a full clean out with my shop vac. Cleaned the chimney exhaust vent out and no more black soot anywhere. My pelpro pellet stove runs like new again. I clean my chimney out frequently every winter.
Thank you for the information about cleaning behind the fire brick to prevent the black glass syndrome. That solved my issue without having to call a professional. I will be ordering a new fire brick set as the current set life expectancy is nearing the end. I will order all my pellet stove parts from you, now and in the future. Thanks again!
Yup man wish i new you>>>found out not long ago a bigger issue not just behind the bricks, ther is one panal you take off then the bricks and behind those is another panel with 2 screws on each side you take off that can be very clogged as well
Are you sure it is not the high limit switch in the back? It seems that when the stove gets too hot, the burner blower clicks off, the flame goes lazy, and the glass smokes up. If you turn it on high feed, the blower clicks back on but eventually gets very hot and then clicks off. My stove is about 30 years old and I've replace all the motors at least once and the control panel. Thanks for your video
I have this exact problem to the point that the stove sooted up the cad cell window. The flame was lazy and I could tell right away the exhaust was not pulling enough air through the burn pot. Even adjusting the damper did not affect the flame, pellets won't dance at all. I pulled the exhaust blower of and cleaned the housing and passages. Worked for a few hours with the same result. Ran the motor while it was out (all other devices disconnected) and it seemed very slow while the feed suffer ran and during the ignition cycle then increased in speed. Tried to use the slow motion feature on my phone to calculate the RPM but did not have the ability to adjust the frame rate. Decided to throw some money at it as the stove is 15 years old with very little repair. Purchased an exhaust blower motor waiting on delivery. For gasket is getting fraid and appears to be sealed but I will change that after the motor. Hopefully the motor will take care if things.
I have the exact problem, cleaned it through and paid someone to diagnose mine and he told me I need a new control board.,waiting to see if he is right..
Had my stove "professionally" cleaned this winter. My husband passed 11-21 and he always took care of this. I was not here, I was at work, but my daughter was. The first thing they did was toss the little "eye" saying nof necessary, just controls feed, when dirty won't allow feed and this way the problem is solved. My stove has not ran right this winter at all. The residue all over the window I had to use oven cleaner on to clean it should have been my first clue. Now I can turn it on, it smokes up my house before it ignites and sometimes builds up to much back pressure inside the box. That can be scary when if finally ignites. Today it will drop pellets but only if I manually do a restart. But will not automatically drop them. I'm afraid to us it now. And it's my only source of heat. HELP
They may have not cleaned the heat exchanger doors when they serviced the stove. That will usually cause the stove to back up into the house when starting it, especially if ash packs in the areas behind the 2 heat exchanger doors. Even if the rest of the stove was cleaned . That was my problem on several occasions.
My stove is brand about a week old, first time with a pellet stove and the glass is getting black quickly and the pellets are piling up an not getting burned off. What’s my issue?
Hello, I have a Stove that was gifted to me. It appears to be in great shape. All the motors and fans and the control board lights work. I was told that it would need and ignitor so I didn't have to manually light it. I purchased a Whitfield & Lennox H8127 Igniter, AMP20115 which is supposed to replace the 12150213 ignitor. I looked in my manual and I looked in the stove and I do not see anywhere where it might connect to in or near the pellet burn area. My Stove is a Whitfield Free Standing Model Advantage II-T C INS Model. The ONLY model/serial numbers I see is WP-2. Did I waste $50 on an ignitor I don't need? Any ideas suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
Jenny, it's not that easy. If your control board is broken so that it will only run at one setting then that could cause your problem. But if you can increase and decrease your feed rate and you still have the problem then it is not the control board. Most likely cause is just cleaning. Next most likely cause is the exhaust motor.. If you have a Profile series you could have a bad photo eye.

Simple but effective. Glad you got it fixed.
It was poor quality pellets for me and my Whitfield Advantage 2. I adjusted the damper to let more air in and it’s all good now.

Is the problem resolved with exhaust blower motor replacement?
I had to change exhaust motor and fan.took care of many problems

If it's a new stove my first guess would be your damper needs to be opened up to allow more airflow.

You can usually see the igniter when you take the burn pot out? If you don't see it, it may not have been an option on that stove.
Guess I just bought an $80 dollar paper weight. sigh. Thanks for the info though!
I wish you can show what your are talking about
I have a America harvest stove 6041 and it will not come on how can I get it to come on check the fuses check the plugin it still will not come on
If it's totally dead it may be a bad control board.
