2024 Brisbane NET Patient Forum

On Monday 17th June 2024. NECA facilitated the first NET Forum of the year and the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Queensland.
We had a welcome, introductions and a NECA presentation from our CEO Meredith Cummins, Associate Professor David Wyld, Medical Oncologist at The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital gave an overview of AUSNET/STOPNET trials.
Dr Mark Nalder, Medical Oncologist at The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital gave an overview of Lung NETs and NETs in general.
Associate Professor David Pattison is currently the Deputy Director of the Department of Nuclear Medicine & Specialised PET Services, nuclear medicine lead for The Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital’s radionuclide therapy service, he provided an insightful overview on PRRT (Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy) and nuclear medicine updates.
Dr Lorcan Ruane is a cardiologist with a special interest in Cardio-Oncology and Carcinoid Heat Disease and working at The Prince Charles Hospital who gave an overview of carcinoid heart disease, the effects on the heart and respective treatments.
Meredith then facilitated Q & A time, which included great discussions regarding upcoming treatments, new scanning technology vs the scanning technology, which is commonly used now to diagnose NETs, just to name a few.
