Doodle, I just had to post because you are like my sister from another mister! Two years ago I took and passed the BRC on a lark. I was hooked, but not ready to ride on my own. So I took the class two more times. I was the only one there who already had the endorsement, lol. I have waaaay overthought the gear and the bike. I also landed on the S40 after sitting on a ton. I drove 2 hours by myself (because my family is seriously concerned about this, lol) to go to the Motrocycle EXPO to sit on bikes and try on gear. And this spring I finally feel ready to take the plunge. I have watched your other videos, but wanted to post on this one. Because at this moment in my life I feel like I'm mirroring this moment in your life, and it's nice to have a little company. Thank you!
This was a fascinating story, Doodle. I enjoy hearing how others have gotten into motorcycling. Your vlogs are always interesting and are presented with wit, style, charm and intelligence.
Loved your video. I bought my first motorcycle since 1974 in July of this year. Like you, I wanted a cruiser because it fits my personality (and age!). I went to WOW Motorcycles in Marietta and fell in love with a 2006 Honda VT750 Shadow Aero. The price was too good to pass up and I would have to get used to the weight. So far, I'm enjoying the heck out of it.
+Terry Sarkel Love your story !~!!! since 1974 has me beat - I set motorcycles aside (for good I thought) in 1980 when I gave up my XS700 for a Fiat .. returned in '15 and it's women like Doodle who inspired me to share with my daughter by way of an MSF course she's taking this weekend.. I'm personally ashamed I didn't while she was growing up, but better late than never.
Hi Doodle, at this moment in time, in your wildest dreams, could you have foreseen yourself with your UA-cam channel and all that it brings in to your life spreading your life, wisdom and thoughts for the world to share, you must have the proudest parents to a great achiever. I feel like a time traveller, travelling back to your beginning and thank you for your future adventures you share with us. John in the UK just beginning another 4 weeks of lockdown!
I delved into Mortacycles years ago and i love 'em =) Great origin story! You may cringe looking back at this video, but it shows the sheer joy and bliss of a new rider finding that passion =) Keep it up!
Doodle On A Motorcycle , yes!! I LOVE your channel!!! Your the best! You have helped me so much!! I got my permit, taking classes now and soon to take the course. Fingers crossed for me please!! Be safe Doodle!!! 🏍😎
I just completed the MSF course and am looking to get my first bike. I’ve been following your video for awhile now but I thought I’d go back and watch all of your videos from oldest to newest. It’s funny how in this video you said you didn’t want a sport bike at first and now you have a Street triple r. Thank you for putting out this content. It has empowered me to just go for it and have fun! 🤗
Have watched several of your videos and this one is especially refreshing as you explain your 1st MC baby steps, lol. I know exactly how you felt when mesmerized by the bike you chose no matter what your research provided. Also got a kick outta you saying only "turned on" my bike instead of started it.
Hey Doodle! MotoKari recommended your channel, and so I thought I'd start from the beginning. I love your deliberate approach in selecting your bike. Even when you found YOUR BIKE, you still did your due diligence. Looking forward to watching more, and I'll be on for the live feed next week! :)
Good morning...I'm not a noob but this came up in my recommendations. What a refreshing look into the beginnings of a new rider. Looking forward to catching up on your series.
I have watched a few of your videos and they have helped boost my confidence. I just got my endorsement in May, AFTER buying my first street bike a 660 Tiger. I have practiced in parking lots and neighborhood roads. I have already considered quitting, but your video on "always a beginner" helped my attitude. Thank you so much!
I’m Gen X age group so I love seeing stuff I love being continued and enjoyed by the next age group to carry on the tradition whether it’s surfing, motorcycles or 80s music . 6 years 👍🏼
Just took the MSF course a couple weeks ago and am going to pick up my Honda Rebel tomorrow!! Parking lots for me for a little, too 😜 did you ever have problems with your family- jk just as I typed this you literally said that in the next sentence, love your videos super relatable and really excites me as a female going into an intimidating hobby!!
I want a Suzuki Savage (Boulevard) as my first bike. They look like so much fun and light weight. I sat on a 2018 model. Same looks. Just felt... right. I’m 6’ about 220 lbs. But some people thought I look too big on an S40. Screw that. I can easily see why that is a good bike to start off with.
Nice! The first video! I’m new to riding. Took the basic rider course the end of December 21, fell in love and got a bike in January. You’re my fav motorcycle creator so far as you share all you successes but also your failures and that gives encouragement 🙏🏾
Just found your channel and binged a few videos through your collection. Soooooo... I came back and watched this video because you said not to in your latest video, "The Real Reason I Started a UA-cam Channel". I simply love your enthusiasm and curiosity. I hope that never dies. Keep kicking ass, Doodle. Later... ~W
I know this is an old video, but For somebody as you who has never even ridden a dirt bike, your whole approach to this seems the best way to proceed. Finding gear that is right for you, and after getting your bike home, how you made yourself familiar with all the controls before even attempting to ride it. That's pretty smart in my opinion.
Great Intuition between power and stability. You have shown good possession of assessment and judgment...safety or capabilities should never be underestimated. 👍😊
I'm talking my msf course next month, just gone through a tough break up and I'm thinking why not try this motorcycle thing out, you only live once, super excited about it
I went for a drive to Vermont to get my first motorcycle, a Kymco Venox 250cc and it had a redline of 10,000 RPM. Oh my god it was so fun, and not fast haha but damn it a fun ride. Bought it before even taking the MSF, about six months later I saved up and got a bigger bike and picked a new leftover 2013 Yamaha Stryker and just over 16,000 miles later falling on love with it more learning the slow speed stuff and uturns. Great video, Suzuki bikes have the most comfy seats I believe, even on the sport bikes theyre soft. My friend and riding buddy early on that got me into motorcycles had an M50 and the seat was like a cloud it was so soft.
Fantastic video for new riders!! Great job and very informative. I am glad you embrace safety! You look fabulous in all your gear!! I know this is only the beginning for gear! Ride and be safe!
I agree with you 100%. I never 2up, I drive. Started in the 70s had my bike delivered and learned to drive in the back yard and and dead end streets etc.
Hey DOODLE, Just became a subscriber to your channel. I'm enjoying following your journey into Motorcycle life. I was given a 2005 Suzuki Boulevard S40 (ls650) for some work I done on a friends house. It has sat in my driveway covered for close to three years now. I recently started repairing/rebuilding the bike. This will be my first motorcycle but I have wanted one for years. Me and some buddies have already planned our first road trip. Going to be a tour of most of the State. Starting with a trip to the Keys and ending up in Orlando. So excited I cant wait. Thanks for the link for MSF will be getting my class in 2 weeks and hopefully will be on the road soon after. Im aiming for a New Years Eve ride. :)
Just watched your April 24th, 2020 video about how you got started on your UA-cam Channel and Motorcycles, and how much you adore the first videos and the comments 😉. Been watching your videos for sometime now, sorry I didn't realize I hadn't Subscribed, well I am now!! Great job on here 😊 thanks
Soooo happy I decided to go back to your day one videos because I had no idea but I bought the exact same bike as you to start!! April of 2020 I bought a 2005, white, Suzuki boulevard and named her Pearl🤍 I’m hoping this is a good omen😂
I've been riding for many, many years and still LOVE riding...The passion only grows! My wife likes riding on the back of my bike and we take many scenic rides together. Last year I threw out the "idea" of Kelly getting her own bike. Her response was one of fear...LOL. Anyway, I've been enjoying your videos for a couple months now (love your attitude and passion) and am contemplating introducing Kelly to your videos in hopes of breaking down her fear of riding. I think the S40 would be perfect for her if she decides to join the passion. If not, that's okay too...
Just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing your adventures and about your bike. Hoping I can come across a cheap 650 for my wife to learn on. She went through the class just to say she has a motorcycle license and I think she is scared to get out on the streets. Hope you enjoy riding for years to come.
Thanks for watching and that's great to hear about your wife!! Can't say I blame her- I didn't leave parking lots for about two months when I first started riding :D
Haha similar to how I started. Did a £20 taster course which was 1 hour on a 125cc in a car park learning the controls and other simple things. Thorght that would be it also figured £20 for an hour on a motorbike would be fun, but Had a huge grin on my face afterwards. Loved it. so booked the weeks fast track course there and then and had a 600cc honda hornet for my first bike. Knew nothing also about bikes also.
The world would be better if everybody rode motorcycles. We would reduce global oil consumption, no need to widen freeways, reduces traffic, and also removes driving & texting?
+J Boy i've been thinking a lot how, like Ms. Doodle, people would be more human, like, you know how we wave to each other? my friend, who doesn't seem to mind being a sheep in traffic, waiting five light changes to get somewhere and enduring all the miscreants out in their bloated machines, counters by saying "at least i'm a dry sheep" . yeah, i've got no answer for that. But there is warmth and dry where i'm going, and if people had to suffer just a little more maybe we'd all be nicer to each other.
Cool -- You posted this almost 5 yrs ago, and created your site 5 yrs ago on my birthday. I feel sorta blessed, Sweetheart. LoL -- I just came across your site by way of 'Her Two Wheel's'. Watching an older video, ya'll was about to embark on a road trip. -- You'll probably never see this comment, as old a post as it is. I was just sayin... anyway
@@DoodleOnAMotorcycle The one with "Her..." wasn't very old. But, I have been watching yourn, from the beginning. Perty cool. Looks like, from your and Jess's ride,"You've Come a Long Way Baby". You handled the Harley Bagger perty damned well!
From experience, a 250 rebel is too slow for the highway. Sure it works but as you said it just can't get out of its own way. Really any 250 is going to feel slow on the highway. I now have a kawa ninja 250, also slow but I like the riding feel better. Will definitely upgrade to something faster in the future.😊
You said you wanted to try a bunch of wild ideas. I don't know if you already own one, but you might look into shooting a gun. You can rent guns at a local gun range to try them out. Its fun. In the movie American Beauty the woman went to a gun range to fire off a few rounds to feel better. Some people hate it and other people like it because it is a little different. like a motorcycle you have to take a basic safety course. you may find out you like a revolvers and not pistols. A police officer once told me if his daughter was going to live on her own she was going to own a gun if she liked it or not. His daughter was coming of age and I guess was talking about moving into a house with her friends and he didn't like the idea.
No need for a motorcycle driver’s license? In Sweden its a few month theory and practice on the bikes followed by a drivers test and written test. It costs about 1000 dollars or more. Well worth it as you learn how to act in all kinds of situations. Its not just to hop on and drive.
Hey!! I’m enjoying your videos! I’m a fellow Ga girl who is looking into getting my first bike and also meeting people who ride. I’ve taken the MSF course already and h e my license. Any good or reputable dealerships around Atlanta?
Nice! Uh… I mean probably a few dozen or so depending on what you’re looking for… not like I’ve bought a bike at all of them but some of the ones I’ve visited- Freedom Powersports, WOW motorcycles, Mountain motorcycles…
Cool! I have looked at each of those and they all seem pretty good. I’m probably going to start out on a sport bike and move in to cruisers when I get older. I’m so freaking excited. I’ve been doing my research and it’s really all I can think about lately! Thanks for the great content.
Great new UA-cam Channel! I think it's awesome that you started to motovlog soon after you started riding (I did the same). My Channel is also relatively new. I found you on Instagram and you now have a new Subscriber! Keep up the great content and ride safe! P.S. I am originally from Georgia :)
I want to learn how to ride and am in the Atlanta area... can we pleaasssee be motorcycle buddies? Hope you're doing okay with the craziness going on in the world, but once everything calms down I'd love to meet!!
You're so cool. I know another girl we call doodle. Love the free spirit jag. Breakup? Eh. Whatever. U r pretty n smart n savvy enuff a smart, sly cat will scoop u up and love to love you. Get it?
You love cruisers because they look like they're from 1985? Don't you mean 1935? When I was looking to buy a bike in 1985, I liked a Harley FLH because it looked like it was from 1935, and many of them still do. (ツ)

You love cruisers because they look like they're from 1985? Don't you mean 1935? When I was looking to buy a bike in 1985, I liked a Harley FLH because it looked like it was from 1935, and many of them still do. (ツ)
