I'm binge watching coop builds and I keep watching yours!! Fantastic job. Thankyou!
Aw thank you so much! I did the same thing before I built mine 😂
I used external screws and joist hangers but my coop was larger. Nailing a frame together by hand can be frustrating because it moves around on you. I'd like to think I'm a skilled carpenter but I'm still learning. Everyday I learn something new. For someone that's never tackled a carpentry project your doing a awesome job.
Well thank you so much Joe! I’m a “follow the plan” kind of girl and the plan said nails only 🫣. I wish I had thought or known to use screws but like you said, still learning everyday!
I just started watching and I have to say I love what I see so far.
So great to see your children helping and linking the 2x4's up for I'm guessing the wall or floor.
Rings tears of joy to see your family working together and even as impressive is you building this prodject !!!!!! Need to see more women doing these things. Very very impressive girl ! Ok back to vid
aw you're going to get me all teary eyed! Thank you for your sweet comment! I try to let them help whenever they want to/I can because that's what my dad did for me and why I love DIY so much now!
I am proud of you! Try wood screws, they're a lot less painful, and lots more fun to use! This looks great!
Aw thank you! And I wish I would have known that at the beginning, the nails were hard!! 😂
Use woodscrews instead of nails, just make sure you get the right bit for the screw head and a battery operated drill
Yes thank you! I followed the plan and it said nails but they were a bugger!
Definitely wood screws, preferably the ones with the star head and the bit is usually included in the box. Less wear and tear on the thumb. Good job. Can't find part 2. Found it!
Mix it up and use both. Wood screws are more expensive and nails are just fine in most areas.
I would set up a gutter rain barrel on the larger side. Then set up an auto water set up for the chickens.
That would have been amazing!
When you said "kiss it" , I laughed out load. Everyone has felt the pain
Hahaha it's true 😂
Before you even said it, I was thinking for that wider space on the window wall you could add a sign or get a stencil and paint something like “the hen house” on it. I think it would look totally fine with something there to fill the space and make it look intentional!
Also you’re obviously going to paint it white 😂😂😂
Haha yes! Thank you Lindsay! It's such a small difference it wasn't worth the torture lol
Hahaha ding ding ding 😂
Not only are you a AMAZING Mother and wife but you are a AMAZING builder 😊❤
Aw thank you Karin!! Love you!
Fix the windows by using a reciprocating saw to cut through nails and remove unwanted studs. Oh and be careful, don't breathe that Chinese air inside the bubble wrap! Lol
Haha thank you!
This is the best video.
You and your kids are so sweet.
Beautiful family.
aw thank you
You did great glad you kept the off center windows it’s character and first project you did great
Aw thank you so much!!
You did a great job
Thank you!
Dont take this wrong but you hitting your finger was the best thing ever ha. Danced it out like a champ. You got a new follower today happened upon your video and your personality very engaging. Have a friend wanting a coop gonna send her the link
Hahahah I’m glad you enjoyed it 😂 is there any other way to help a hurt finger than to dance it out? 💃🏻 so glad you’re here!
I did the same thing recently - the roof and trim were the most unfun for me. Thankful my son climbed up to screw our metal roof panels on!!!
Good for you! I love that your son helped!
Talented persistent and beautiful!! I love your helpers!
Haha thanks mom! Me too!
I'm surprised the plans didnt say to use wood screws. But so far looking at it, it looks good. I built my greenhouse from scratch and it's not perfect, but it is pretty awesome
Right?!? That would have saved me so much time! Thank you! Good for you! It means more when you make it yourself, perfect or not!
Amazing amazing amazing as always! You have done such an amazing job so far!!
Thanks handsome! Couldn't do it without you!
Wonderful job! Keep building things!
Aw thank you Karen! I plan to!
Good job.
Thanks so much!
Love it , show those kids how to use a tape measure. They will be way ahead of the other crowd.
On it!
Go Girl! Awesome, you are doing great.
Woohoo! Thank you so much!
1. You are not afraid to try something new.
2. You are not afraid to make a mistake and admit to it.
3. You are spending quality time with your kids teaching them important life lessons, a sense of accomplishment and fun.
4. You are doing the best thing for your chicken’s physical and mental health.
5. Wabi Sabi is the Japanese art of finding beauty in the imperfections; those are the windows you didn’t think were even.
5. You rock girl, but PLEASE wear proper footwear when building something! Remember how much your finger hurt?
Keep up the good work.
Oh my goodness this is my most favorite comment I have ever received 🥹. Thank you so much for taking the time to share all that with me 🤍. And I promise to wear proper footwork next time! (You are right about the finger hurting 😬)
Love this. Makes me feel sure that I can do it too!
Aw yay! I love that! Yes you can!
Great job! Very gutsy to take that one i I’m build the same right now so I can relate🙌👏
Well thank you very much! Good luck with yours!
Happy to say I helped 💅 but really you are doing an amazing job Courtney!!!
You saved me from burning it down 🤣. But thank you!!
Great job! I'm so impressed that you did it without power tools to speak of. Sorry about your thumb.
Haha thank you! I’m a go by the book girl and this is how the instructions said to do it 🤷🏻♀️. I don’t know why they didn’t say to use wood screws, it would have been so much faster!
So amazing!!
Thank you Clara!
Help her mister 😂😂😂
Who needs help? Keep watching the other two videos 💃🏻
@@HeartandHomeCrew At the beginning of the video, your husband was dressed very amusingly, and I was referring to him to help you. I want videos with chicken's please. I love you're coop. Merry Christmas. Greeting from Romania 🇺🇲🇷🇴
I love you're familly ❤
@@HeartandHomeCrew I watched this video and i love it. In the last message just i joke. Is good job
Hi , enjoying your channel, especially the coop videos. I have decided to make this particular coop for my fluffy butts. Just wondering where you purchased the windows?
Aw yay thank you! You’ve got this! I got them off of Amazon, I should have the link in my description ✨
@@HeartandHomeCrew no can’t see the link. Only the Etsy link is on there
@@jenlaw398 I'm so sorry, let me see if I can find it
@@jenlaw398 amzn.to/3DRzxOF these were the ones I bought but they are currently unavailable!
Use screws instead of nails so that it easier to take it out if there’s mistake.
that's what I wanted to do but the plan I bought said to use these nails and I didn't want to deviate from it. But yes, I would definitely do that next time!
Wood screws and a drill, would save you a ton of time and is less painful.
Yes! I realized that after but it was my first time building and for whatever reason the instructions said to use nails.
You could have used a cordless drill and screws it would have been so much easer.
I know that now! I wish the instructions had included that but it was my first build so I copied it to a T!
What is ur over all measurements on your platform and what is the measurements on your nesting boxes
I followed a plan that I got off Etsy that I linked in my description!
Where did you get the plans from? can you please post? thanks
Yes! I meant to link them, thank you 😊.

How many 2x4s did you need for the coop alone?
I'd have to look back but the plans from Etsy specify exactly how much of everything you need!
👍👍👍👍👍 💯💯💯💯 💯
What size is that window? Would you please share the amazon link with us?
Hi! The window size is 12x18 and I am trying to find the link but it doesn't look like I can find it anymore. I got them on amazon!
@@HeartandHomeCrew Thank you so much. I'll find it or something similar. :) Thanks for the video! :) :)
@@deirdre444 you are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
are those 2x4 or 2x3 looks like a mix...
Yes there is a mix! I used an Etsy plan that had all the needed supplies listed!
I can't find the link to the plans, do you still have that? :)
I'm so sorry, I thought I had linked them! Here they are: www.etsy.com/listing/238472115/chicken-coop-plans-pdf-file-instant?gpla=1&gao=1&&CjwKCAjwg5uZBhATEiwAhhRLHiPRByw6l_B9JRAyBiEtyYKt2y6GEqRkMAI9BJkPYJT60w2ns5XyDhoCpPEQAvD_BwE_k_&gclid=CjwKCAjwg5uZBhATEiwAhhRLHiPRByw6l_B9JRAyBiEtyYKt2y6GEqRkMAI9BJkPYJT60w2ns5XyDhoCpPEQAvD_BwE
What was cost of materials?
Around $1,500. The plans say it averages about $900-$1200 depending on where you live. The price of wood has gone down since I made it so that can make a big difference. And that also includes the price of the run. I had to buy every item on the material list so if you had any extra shingles or screws from another project that could lower the cost as well!
Thought you were having a stroke at the start, great job though
Hahaha when my husband scared me? 😅 thank you!
Can you let us know what the cost of this build was?
It was supposed to be around $900 based on what the plans said but because of the price of wood at the time I built it, it was around 2k
Oh em gee
thank u we
What hight is the wall
I will have to go back and check my measurements but I think about 4ft?
@@HeartandHomeCrew thank you
Oh jiminycrickets that’s why I love a impact screw gun and to me it’s somuch sturdy, ❣️❣️sorry you smooshed your thumb 😞
I just got one for Christmas! Woo!
Aw and thank you! It hurt 😅
build a chicken coop
I sure did
Do you remember how much it cost to build? 😊
Just over 2k with the price of wood that year!
Oh im buying you a nail gun
Haha I have since bought one 😂🙌
Creepy UA-cam tech suggested a construction of a chicken coop when I never looked up such thing other than owning and never searching info related to chickens. Scary stuff people. Btw i did not watch.
#nosycellmiclistening!
Hahaha ok!
How much did it cost you to build it? How many chickens does it fit?
Including the run around 2k and it can hold 12 chickens!
