Thank You for doing what you do. But for me- after a year- I wouldn't let her go. She finally feels that she has a TRUE home and family. And once again she will be sent away from her safe place and forced to adjust yet again. She can never be sure she really has a permanent place.
I agree with you. We have two foster fails. The first one was returned and then came to us. He is adorable and such a beautiful dog. People always coo over him. BUT he didn't trust us for a very long time. I think he was always afraid that he had to go again. His sister is totally different. We had her for a long time and in the end couldn't let her go. After such a long time it would be cruel to put her through that again. She is so trusting and sweet. It would break my heart. On the other hand, if the foster is not really attached to her she might be better off with a family that adores her. If they were attached to her, they couldn't and wouldn't let her go. Not after a year.
Agreed. This didn't make sense. The volunteer said, "She really needs a win," so you give her back? Not a good choice. Texas IS in bad shape, but giving her up doesn't fix that.
I agree, to uproot her again, when she feels like she is in her dream forever home and part of a family would be very traumatising for her.

I think Dixie is already home and adjusted well giving her away to a new family will just open her up again to feeling abandoned again . Dogs dont understand what foster or surrendering means they just feel unloved and like someone just gave up on them again. Please keep her its been over a year and she feels at home already and is happy with u ❤🐶

It's hard to find the rt adopter for many dogs. Many get adopted out and returned thus leaving them scared riddled with anxiety so when a dog has a good home it's best for them to stay versus throwing them around like a ping pong ball no different from kids being bounced from one foster home to another. As far as your question is concerned the weight of the world 🌎 shouldn't be on her shoulders there are many ppl that can foster and help a loving dog💯 There are many ways she can still feel she's making a difference from walking dogs at her local shelter to doing day trips for dogs and take them out of the shelter for a day 💯

Nothing wrong with cats. Maybe they could meet each other. I think animals can read energy. When you get more than 3 together, they tend to pick on each other, not always but sometimes. You should borrow a puppy from a shelter and do a test run. You maybe surprised! 🐾♥️🐾
I'm in the same situation! 3rd floor no elevator & on oxygen 24/7 due to severe COPD! I've been looking for an assisted living place that allows small animals but they're so expensive! 😢 They say it's a fact that you live longer when you have a dog or cat! Growing up we always had a dog! The unconditional love you get from a pet is amazing! 🐾🐶🐾😻💔
Praying you find a ground floor apartment. I’ve noticed here in retirement homes many have resident dogs and cats. They are so therapeutic! One place I visited had parakeets! ♥️

The bed thing was just too cute! Pitties are so loving, and sweet. I have one, who was given up, which no one wanted. I saw his picture on Twitter, with a sign, that said, "condemned to death, by Dec. 24, 2022. I read how no one wanted him, and how he was somewhere in Texas, near the border. I can't drive, but it broke me, to see his sad face. I had lost my black, sweetie, on Jan. 24th, 2022, and my brother in Oct. 2022. I simply broke down, and put in all caps I WANT HIM!! I got a message that day. He needed neutering, and had tested + for heartworm. They did it all, and to get him transported, did a tag team. Took him 8 days of travel. He arrived Jan. 24, 2023, a year after my Chester passed. I was never asked for a penny. I sent a donation.
I had an American bulldog adopted from Baltimore City SPCA that looked just like her. Brown spot in the same spot. She was the best dog and the love of my life(don't tell my other dogs or my husband). Bless you.

Poor baby. Now her foster family can’t keep her so she’s going to go to another home after being with them for one year and being bonded. It sounds like she’s gone through a few homes, and she needs stability and love in her life.

We live in Oregon. Our rescue pittie came from Texas. I'm 45 and had dogs my whole life but she is all around the best dog I've ever had. She's hilarious, a cuddle bug, loves meeting other people, dogs, and she likes the neighborhood cats so much that I want to get one for her. I can't imagine life without her. Please give pitties a chance.

Dixie is a great dog. I laughed out loud when I saw her saving her bed from the Roomba. Fantastic personality. Please be her forever home. I think it would be very difficult and traumatizing for Dixie to lose you and your husband, and the other dogs. Think of it as a foster fail. 🙂

For a dog who's been in and out of the shelter so much, I don't think changing homes on her is really much different. Keep her. Adopt her. Make her not ever have to leave a place she obviously considers home, especially when you've already had her for a year.
