  • The Gerbing gear provides conflicting information on the amp draw and which fuse to use depending on what instructions you are looking at. This video tries to explain and simplify what just you should be using based on what gear you are wearing.

Let me ask you. Can't you just hook up into the adaptor that comes with the harley davidson that us used to tend the battery as a hook up

Harley Davidson documents all say NOT to do it. The battery tender harness is fused for low voltage draw and the gear needs to use a fuse up to 20 amps (while wearing everything). You could fry components of the bike or cause some electrical fire while wearing the gear, which Harley states "can cause serious injury or even death." I wouldn't do it. Technically "can you?" Sure...I'm reading lots of folks who have done it and continue to do it. Since I value my life and follow manufacturer warnings, I installed the separate heated gear fuse kit/cables. It was very simple to do and ensures I am using only the amps I need for any configuration of gear I'm wearing.
