Just to clarify. If I want to use the battery tender sae route. Does the sae to male adapter just connect to my battery tender and I connect the end of the male adapter into the controller or directly into the jacket? How do I know if the sae batter tender that’s in my bike has a fuse or not?
Doesn't the SAE to male adapter plugged into the fuse adapter just create a loop on the battery? I don't see how that goes to power a device. Am I wrong?
I have your heated jacket & gloves Which worked fine on my zzr1100 connected to the battery.l now have a k1600 connected to the battery but every time the switch calls for power the engine revs reduce slightly up & down. The bmw is fitted with a 12v outlet can the be used instead of connected directly to the battery.
I wish Gerbing would bring back the knob on top style controller. My single temp controller jumped overboard and got run over. Now my option is eBay or Amazon to replace it instead of Revzilla. Grr.
I've got a battery charger & this gerbing connected attached to my battery. Are you suggesting that I should find an adapter for my battery charging cable so I only have one cord dangling?
+TheStudioKidA Yes. If your battery charger has an SAE connector (most do), I recommend this Coax Male to SAE cable, which you'd leave attached to your battery charger cable. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/powerlet-coax-male-to-sae-cable
Quick question, how many thing can you connect directly to the motorcycle battery? Can I install motorcycle phone charger, hand guard light, and heated grips directly to the battery all at once and have it operating?
You will need to calculate the excess electrical capacity of your bike- essentially how much extra juice it puts out after running the essentials). From there, add up the wattage of the accessories you want to add. As long as the total is less than the E.E.C. it shouldn't be an issue. I linked a helpful article from Powerlet below. -TeamZilla AJ *www.powerlet.com/learningCenter/excessCapacity
Weird Lesson: If you have two places and ways to plug in your heated gear on your bike AND one has the polarity flipped, the Gerbing double wired controller with pushbuttons will work fine with correct polarity. If you plug into a socket with opposite polarity the jacket will heat real hot but no remote wireless control, no numbers or letters on your double wired controller, no on/off via buttons.
I have a BMW K75 with an accessory port by the ignition and another on the left besides the battery. Why are you suggesting not plugging heated gear directly into the port?
Those ports may not have a large enough fuse to support the draw of heated gear. That's why we recommend using Gerbing's included fused battery harness. -DrewZilla
I understand from your tutorial that you use the fuse next up from the burden the accessories are pulling. Say you are using gloves all the time and pants occasionally-would you recommend using a 10 amp fuse all the time or keep a smaller fuse more regularly and change it when heating pants?

At 4:26, Anthony talks about a recommended vs unrecommended way to convert from SAE to coax, but I'm not understanding his reasoning. on my bike, I've installed a battery tender pigtail (SAE) and it's already fused. why would I need to bypass that and not use the SAE to female connector? Thanks!
+Dan Fox Gerbing cannot guarantee the quality of the wire used in the Battery Tender SAE harness, so we recommend using the Gerbing harness included with all Gerbing heated garments and adapting your Battery Tender wall charger with an SAE to coax male connector. Gerbing has tested its battery harness with its own garments. They have not tested harnesses from other brands. -DrewZilla
jjchopper02 With the help of a dual temp controller, they sure can. Make sure your bike has enough power to run both liners. RevZilla So your saying,my jacket liner and my wifes jacket liner,we just need one battery connection with the dual controller and check if bike will handle it. Thanks
RevZilla Brian,Just got wifes liner and in user guide. It says "Do not connect clothing for more than one person to a single red female port on the battery harness," "If Gerbings Heated Clothing will be worn by both rider and passenger, install two battery harnesses to the battery terminals." Under the dual temp-controller,it says "Controls heat output for two circuits, Not designed to control heat for two riders." My take of this is, the wife needs her own heat controller.
jjchopper02 You should be fine with one dual temperature controller and battery harness. Running two jackets off of one dual temperature controller and battery harness is no different than running a jacket and a pair of pants. One wiring harness should have no problem handle the power. What I believe Gerbing is stating is to not use a Y cable like the one listed below and try connecting two items to one single red port. Does this make sense? -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/powerlet-coax-y-cable
This video is old. It says the battery harness comes with every product, but on the product page on RZ it says it does not. Might be time to redo this video.
OMG you talk too fast! You lost me at 4:25 with the pigtail thing. I have an optimate cable coming out of my battery. Can I connect Gerbing stuff to this? Can you just tell us which cable we NEED to get and not which stuff we don't want to get? Thanks! Why is this so complicated?!

Great video. I'm just about to order some heated gear so this is helpful to know.

I'm confused on that part, too, given what he quickly said.
You are not wrong.

Technical when you add gloves or other accessories they are added in parallel, and not series.

Does Gerbing also make the gear? If not can do you have a video on heated gear?
Thanks!

Me too
With my jacket liner I just plug the gloves to the jacket sleeves and use a single controller so not sure why you’re using a dual controller for that.
