these guys are like military recruiters. they blow a bunch of smoke up your ass to get you to sign up then use you while you're young and discard you when you're 40
funny i heard my local has a 35% to 50% drop out rate. had no interview after the alptitude test I took and probably failed. yet here I am about to start an apprenticeship. lol
Not sure what country, but in Canada, there are too many construction electricians. It was a hot career at one point, but everyone went for it, and now too many. You do not want to go into the field that is too competitive, unless you are literally a genius, and have someone to give you contracts.

you need to have completed high school level or equivalent to join the ibew. you need a grade 12 physics and math course as well i think. however it could vary from place to place, thats just for where i am located. to be a non-unionized electrician i believe you only need grade 10
I just applied and tested for an inside wireman apprenticeship with the Ibew in San Diego. You need to have a high school diploma and proof that you've completed an algebra class with a c or better. You'll have to provide high school transcripts.
do you want a job where you only work 6 months a year? where you have to know somebody to work steady? A JOB THATS FEAST OR FAMINE? then be a union electrician.
I am a union electrician and have been working for the same shop steady for 11 years straight. If you apply yourself and are a motivated person you will work.
I don't think 'Brotherhood' would go down well these days. You have to add the sisterhood in 50/50, then you get 100% equality and we all live happily ever after.
I got no problem with women working, they have the opportunity. But I don't like affirmative action or diversity hiring, everyone should prove that they are competent for the job.

C Takes me around 8 months to earn that in construction(concrete) at $24/hr. Highly considering switching my trade to an electrician
