    Kudos to the stuntmen at 0:52 and 1:00, they earned their money on this film.

    The producer bought the economy size bulk package of ricochet sounds. 😂

    • @LBSOfficialBear
      @LBSOfficialBear 5 місяців тому +4

      That of course was Clint and Malpaso. And of course, the limited sound effects of those richocets were all producers for film, TV and cartoons had to go on. But at least they're classic that we remember them for. And even on occasion they're still used for today's productions believe it or not.

      @@LBSOfficialBearAll they had to go on?? If they had wanted more realism, there were plenty of gun experts they could've consulted. Still a great movie, though.

    High Plains Drifter often flies under the radar compared to Clint Eastwood's other classics like Unforgiven and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, partly because it's in that shadow of Eastwood's larger body of iconic work. It's a unique film, blending traditional Western elements with a supernatural, almost horror-like atmosphere, and Eastwood’s portrayal of "The Stranger" brought a dark, enigmatic edge that influenced later antiheroes in the genre.
    Eastwood also directed the film, and it's among his early directorial work, which set a foundation for the grit and moral ambiguity he would explore in later films. It's likely overlooked because it doesn’t fit neatly into the pure Western or revenge-film mold-its surreal elements and dark, satirical critique of human nature make it a bit more complex than the standard Western. For those who appreciate Westerns with psychological depth and a twist, though, High Plains Drifter really deserves that spotlight.

      Can't leave out *"The Outlaw Josey Wales,"* one of the finest westerns ever made, also directed by Eastwood.
