Up here in Canada we had a red banana plant in our goldfish/koi pond in the summer, brought it in with the fish over winter and it did really well in their winter tubs- even with reduced light (still had a shop light on it). Never really stays warm enough for the elephant ears for us... Might be something to try for that bog spot... staying fishy (and warm) 😉

The current 350 actually gives them a bigger footprint and more hiding places then the 500 gallon cube, height might not be as important than floorspace...I love how Josh uses his engineering mind to explain how he calculated the total gallons, you guys rock!

Put good lights on the plants,the elephant ear is the best natural filter ever I had koi pond with 55 big girls and it crystal clear pond with full sun all the year. And grow fast and huge elephant ear it’s beautiful for tropical pond
Looks awesome! You could try a "Peace Lily" in that bare spot. I know a lot of people keep their roots in water and they thrive. They get a decent size so they should grow up to where you want them!
For that spot where you tried elephant ear, you may try a common arrowhead plant. ( what it is called in North Carolina) I have three wired up to the side of the tanks. Wedged around enough rocks to hold it from flopping over, that may work. I think Arrowhead comes in a green. I have the variegated color. Happy rescues🐟🐬🐋
I didn't hear them mention the name of the smallest ones in there, which appear to be Kennyi. The males are yellowish with ~5 faded grey vertical stripes (dominant male is bright yellow), and the females are light blue with ~5 black vertical stripes. Amazing tank, guys! Love your videos!
To prevent the goggles from fogging up, try using baby shampoo or spit into them and rinse them out before putting them on! Something I learnt from scuba diving.
How about plugging the holes up with rocks or gravel to weigh it down and silicone seal, so no other fish can get into the holes? I actually like the middle sloop area it looks like there is a river flowing under the pool

josh elephant ear plants love the bog i had same problom with fiberous elephant they need to be a bit higher out of the water to do well same as the tuber one just set on top of the water and let the roots go down try that new summer i will take a pic or mine for ya they get huge over 8 ft

You could use a anti fog spray on the goggles. Or I know this may seem nasty but you can spit in the goggles and they shouldn't fog up as bad. 🐠

You could try a peace lily, a spiderplant, a flamingo flower, an arrowhead vine, palm trees, or maybe grow an avacodo.

With that new coral tank you could add a ton of large snail shells and if you gte any shell dwellers you can have them breeding in no time.

You should take out all the plastic stuff and make it a natural tank. Maybe with the extra lace rock you have. That tank could be an amazing show tank
