The body of the arrangement is down to Avshalom Caspi and there was precious little time to rehearse with the band themselves (only a few days before the concert). Add to that the incompetence of the BBC sound engineering on the night and you have a less than perfect combination. Taking all that into account, I reckon it's still a pretty wonderful thing they came up with :-)
Gotta love the YT algorithm when it makes you stumble upon something like this, I absolutely loved it and can't wait to watch the full gig, cheers for uploading it!
@lalo6437 Check out Doves back catalouge, it's superb. This was and still is truly wonderfull. Sad to see Radio 2 have had to cut the Electric Proms due to funding. It was one one the musical highlights of the year. Still, we have got Elbow's new album to chew over!
Hi 4op! If you want to know what this choir can really do they are going to Bulgaria to tour in August this year (I'm going with them). We'll be at Koprivshtitsa for the festival. If you're at any of the concerts be sure to come up and introduce yourself! Dovizdane! Ivor
firesuit live, unbelievable they pulled it nicely with this choir. Dont expect they play it in original tempo live! that is hard to pull with such a big montage... plus, its a perfect performance! is this presentation available on dvd or blu ray please?
Hi Luis! Thanks for the comment but this performance was a "one-off". It will never be repeated. It was a special collaboration that was broadcast on British Television. Sadly not available anywhere but on here. Best Regards, Ivor
@elchafa It's the same for Snowden when it's played live: always too fast and therefore looses some of the brooding intensity of the song. Still, I suppose it's a fairly cool one-off take on the song, but not a patch on the recorded version (or the Noise Version, for that matter).
@foofighterdaz Listening to it again, I kinda like it a bit more than the first time I commented. But I do find the choir to be kind of interrupting, perhaps it being at a lower volume would have done the trick.
I'm not entirely pleased by either the choir nor the band's version of the song. Its tempo is sped up too much for my taste... I like to think of this song as a slow piece, rather than a fast one. Thanks for uploading anyways.

I agree with most here.I think they destroyed their own song with that choir. And i freaking love this song.
They should come to Mexico!
people say i look like the lead singer from the doves
The only good bit of the choir was the last 20 seconds odd.
